Welcome to our new common room which, as you would expect, is decorated in impeccable taste (despite the limited choice of wallpapers available in Milton Northern). Above the marble mantelpiece hangs a portrait of the Vice-Chancellor of the University. As we recline elegantly on the chaise longue, we partake of tea and ratafia biscuits and discuss the works of Plato, although in the evening the finest wines and Polish cordials may be served.

Re Thorin, am I seeing clearly? Lots of long, long hair, and black leather gloves?????

Massive ::shameful admission alert:: I didn't watch Guy and his Ooh la la to the end. Did I miss the saucy shocking and unsuitable for a sensitive type like me bits?

Twigoletto - I don't know about the telly version of Persuasion and dear old Rupey's part therein, but the book is good, I think. La Austen has a lot to say about money, class and sex (in her own restrained way).

Spiro - If it really is junk, then why not just dispose of it instead of stashing it in the loft?

It's a mixture of junk and non-junk Maud, and don't have time at the moment to sort through it as we have DD's godfather staying on Saturday, then we will be moving into spare room for a week so we can get our room decorated before new bed arrives.

I was worried, Massive, that I might have missed something raunchy worthy of serious academic discourse.

I have just found yet another (can you believe it) Period Drama/Fix You vid but it is a very inferior specimen as it contains only Mr Thornton's brief rose-picking moment and then a bit of handholding. Pah!

That is exactly our junk situation too. Bloke has boxes of important things that are so important that he hasn't actually opened those boxes for a decade. Hmm.

And the worst thing is I have no storage space for the stuff we actually use.

YT has been horrendous for me the past few days, in fact so has the whole interweb, must be all the schoolkids descending in droves. sigh. So atm I can't look for some new research material to delight and surprise you in your turn.

Sisters, sisters, sisters... I was once like you. My house was the worst in the world for junk, we couldn't move for it, every cupboard was filled with it and it was on the verge of giving me a small mental episode. Ah, but then I spent a month tackling it, room by room and not moving onto another room until that one was completely dealt with. I eBayed, Freecycled, charity shopped and chucked from dawn 'til dusk and at the end of the month, all the junk was gone... GONE, I tell you!! Mwaahahahahaha

hides the fact that another small pile of junk has accumulated since then and I need to tackle that lot soon

What excitement over the photos, though! It's almost too much at once. First we get a peek at a possibly Gizzy-like Thorin, and then two new Heinz varieties. We do so make passes at villains in glasses, if they look like you, Herr Kruger, so sorry if you felt you were safe from all that nonsense.

Finally... I had a long, long dReAm, last night. Gorblimey, I don't know what happened to my subconscious to make this happen,. Ungrateful though this no doubt is, you know who it would have been, if I had my druthers. But we sat and walked and talked for hours, all in the most relaxed and friendly way. I can't remember anything of what we talked about worse luck. but at least I was unflustered and coherent so I don't have to look back on it with [shame] Very nice!

Thanks you two , I did mean to comment on the Thorin photos and say it looks like it's worth going to see now that we know he isn't mr plastic face.

No, it wasn't just walking and talking, we sat and talked for ages. I wish I could remember what it was about. A hotel person came along at one stage and I just sat back and listened and thudded while he talked to her.
