Margaret Hale Academy of Tea-Pouring & Wallpaper Selection at the University of Milton Northern

Welcome to our new common room which, as you would expect, is decorated in impeccable taste (despite the limited choice of wallpapers available in Milton Northern). Above the marble mantelpiece hangs a portrait of the Vice-Chancellor of the University. As we recline elegantly on the chaise longue, we partake of tea and ratafia biscuits and discuss the works of Plato, although in the evening the finest wines and Polish cordials may be served.

Oh, had we seen Guy and his Oooh la la before? I thought we had only seen Lucas's, so to speak.

That was supposed to be ::Old and befuddled::

::Even more befuddled::

Oh yes indeedy, Maudie, I had seen Gizzy strut his ooh la la stuff -- the saucy departure angle as he stalks the castle corridors, and the very naughty way they have put the hip action on repeat in the moving picture version of that favourite pic of mine.

Of course, with your mind more on the 19th century rather than medieval shenanigans, it is understandable.

A six story sized 3D advert for a well-known ice cream treat caught my eye, on the way to the costermongers this morning. But who needs a Magnum Temptation when there is a calorie-free alternative?

DumSpiroSpero · 23/06/2011 15:04

Just watched last night's Alejandro/Gizzy vid - phew...I think Season 3 Gizzy is definitely my favourite!

Also came across this - you mught have seen it although I'm pretty sure we've not had it on the thread before. It's not strictly Gizzy but Smile

SupermassiveLBD · 23/06/2011 16:05

Thanks for that, Spiro, I had not seen it myself and it was fun!

Originally I didn't care too much for Season 3 Gizzy but he has grown on me. That Total Meltdown thing he's got going on has me hooked.

PasstheTwiglets · 23/06/2011 16:56

Wine will be had tonight, indeedy it will.

I did have a giggle at the Heinz Ketchup/Kruger comments last night :) I didn't go with Lucas in the end, I went with Captain Wentworth (hi Small!) Well blow me down if old Rupes didn't actually do some acting in that one! I did enjoy it but the story was a bit meh, no? Not sure that one should say such things of Jane Austen but hey ho. The next bit of bonnetage I have sitting on my shelf is Sense & Sensibility. David Morrissey, yum. Actually, perhaps I could get DrTwigs to sit through that one as apparently Claire Skinner is in it and he hearts her :)

Can't believe I still haven't seen S3 Gizzy! I stopped halfway through S2 and haven't found time to watch it since. Or should I say that I haven't prioritised him (sorry, Guy!)

PasstheTwiglets · 23/06/2011 17:14

Maud, did you book your tickets online for the Royal Academy exhibition? (I'm reluctant to call it the RA exhibition, in case it gets people excited :) ) If so, did you find a promo code anywhere? I'm booking a ticket and it's inviting me to enter a promo code, which means that they must exist but Mr Google is refusing to speak on the subject. One of my pet hates is when there's a code box on a website but I can't find a code to put in :)

DumSpiroSpero · 23/06/2011 17:21

At least you're in one piece and have Wine!

I haven't really seen any of the Gizzy's - I got a few episodes from the library but tbh I just didn't have the patience to wade through all the petulant fuckwittage to get to the good bits.

Might give it another go over the 'summer' holidays.

PasstheTwiglets · 23/06/2011 17:35

Our summer holidays are booking up quickly already! (Hence me trying to plan a quiet day for me!) I've decided to have the first day of the hols as Whatever You Want Day - they can do whatever they like and eat whatever they like for one day only. They have already decided on pizza for breakfast and cake for dinner so I'm kind of looking forward to it as well :)

Are people having summer holidays? We aren't going away this year but are having a Staycation with 4 days in London (albeit it in a travelodge who refuses to provide non-allergenic pillows, grrrr...) MissTwigs is very excited at seeing Kate Middleton's wedding dress at Buck Palace!

DumSpiroSpero · 23/06/2011 17:42

I think we'll just be having days out. Have talked about camping in Dorset or Devon but there's quite a lot of work we want to get done on the house. Need to do a rush job on our bedroom before the hols as we've ordered a new bed. Then the dining room and paint job on sitting room, plus have BIL coming down & he and Mr S are going to pull down our dilapidated conservatory (botch job courtesy of previous owners) and build a patio. Am hoping to go away with DD for a few days while that's going on!

PasstheTwiglets · 23/06/2011 17:42

First pic of Thorin!!

PasstheTwiglets · 23/06/2011 17:47

Closer-up pic, though a bit blurry

Well it looks like he isn't going to be hidden under horrid prosthetics after all

DumSpiroSpero · 23/06/2011 17:48

OMG! I though that was going to be a tease and be a garden gnome Grin!

Difficult to give a verdict from that pic, but I guess it must be working on some level as I've just forgotten about the wok and nearly set the kitchen alight!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 23/06/2011 17:49

::polishes pince-nez::

I can't see enough detail in the Thorin pic to reach an opinion but, provisionally, I Am Worried. Where's the cravat, fr'instance?

Twiggy - Because I am a Friend of the RA (which I've been calling the RA for decades so can't break the habit) I get free entry. If you think you might be going regularly, it's worth calculating whether you'd be better off joining, especially as with membership you can take family members in with you.

Tbh I am far too excited about the countdown to Strikeback 2 to be concerned about Thorn at the moment. I actually think he's got potential though and the looks will grow on me as the character develops.

DumSpiroSpero · 23/06/2011 17:56

I am a Friend of the RA

As opposed to being a 'friend' Wink of The RA, Maud?!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 23/06/2011 18:04

Yes, Spiro, it all depends on the punctuation.

PasstheTwiglets · 23/06/2011 19:41

Oh, jolly good show, Spiro!!

Also at the lack of Thorin's cravat :) Ta for the RA info, btw.

So do we have a broadcast (or 'tx' as we used to say in the biz) date for Strike Back 2?

LOL Spiro, how funny would it have been to put a garden gnome pic in there instead? Rats, I wish I'd thought of that :)

SupermassiveLBD · 23/06/2011 20:12

Oh golly, I have missed the important news! So the Face of Thorin will be pretty much Armitage au naturel, that is good to know. How exciting!

Ladies, your summer hols plans sound just a riveting as mine Sad

And what a shame you haven't seen more of Guy than you have -- so to speak. We really could do with a RH special edition, DVD, with just the good bits. I have to laugh, skimming through the fanfic, they don't half give the PLFW a general and unanimous rubbishing.

Finally, a nice gesture from my local costermongers, as I entered their portals today to the tune of Bryan Adams and Everything I do
Wrong Robin Hood version, fellows, but I appreciate the effort.

PasstheTwiglets · 23/06/2011 21:17

Any news on the SuperBoys' summer camp, Massive?

I was halfway through S2 RH, watching it with MissTwigs, but then she went ahead without me which was very irritating as it was a nice easy thing for us to do together but now she's seen them all I have to wait until I have me-time to watch any more.

The PLFW did ok in the 'seamstress' fanfic though!

DumSpiroSpero · 23/06/2011 21:43

The PLFW did ok in the 'seamstress' fanfic though!

Well, yes but...

I'm half filling the loft with junk from the spare room and half watching 'Born to be Different' at the moment - those kids are amazing.

SupermassiveLBD · 23/06/2011 21:51

The PLFW did ok in the 'seamstress' fanfic though!
Hmm I must have fast-forwarded through those bits, I wonder why? Wink

Still waiting on my hopes to get the SBs out from under my feet news of the SB's summer camp. It starts soon too Sad
