Margaret Hale Academy of Tea-Pouring & Wallpaper Selection at the University of Milton Northern

Welcome to our new common room which, as you would expect, is decorated in impeccable taste (despite the limited choice of wallpapers available in Milton Northern). Above the marble mantelpiece hangs a portrait of the Vice-Chancellor of the University. As we recline elegantly on the chaise longue, we partake of tea and ratafia biscuits and discuss the works of Plato, although in the evening the finest wines and Polish cordials may be served.

Me too, Maud. I only had about 3. I'm taking the heartening approach that I am not a completely sad loon with no life have worthier things in my life to attend to (although my ever increasing contributions here may contradict that statement).

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 07/07/2011 19:03

Eww at the recollection of Mr Potato-face, peeled. You must understand, LadyDamerel, that my tastes and sensibilities are so rarefied that the merest glimpse of Mr Thornton's chest hair is enough to send me into a swoon.

I'm going out in a while, but hope to be back in time to join in the wild debauch, err, lewd goings-on and vulgar rompings, err, civilised little soiree.

Gosh Maud, I'm really sorry about that!! I just found the pic on Google Images and copied that link location, I had no idea what sort of site it was from!! Ewww, it was a little off-putting, to say the least. Apologies. I suppose the lesson here is that I should click the link itself, rather than just copying & pasting it!

I got almost 30 on that list

PasstheTwiglets · 07/07/2011 19:04

Re. new premises - who haven't we had yet? Is anybody left?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 07/07/2011 19:04

It's lovely to have you here, LadyDamerel. Had you been lurking or did some kind friend perchance pass the Academy prospectus (aka the most active threads list) to you?

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 07/07/2011 19:06

I think we've had Academies named after everybody apart from the quite obscure ones (the chap in Frozen, who probably nobody's actually seen, for example).

Well speaking as a sad loon with completely no life, I too have to disappear for a short while. But to quote Arnie I'll be beck

Re Potato-face, we could offer that to Lady Gaga for her next song title.

SupermassiveLBD · 07/07/2011 19:16

Uthred's not had one -- we could do all the posts in Anglo -Saxon, how jolly!

LadyDamerel · 07/07/2011 19:20

I have a terrible confession to make.

I've seen the University of Milton Northern in the prospectus so many times and thought it was something to do with those weirdy vampire Twilight films/books so I just -hid them without opening them walked on by. It wasn't until I saw dear Jasper's name in the prospectus that my interest was piqued and I hid in a corner of the common room and watched for a while. But then I was in the library and stumbled across the resources with the Vice Chancellor's dulcet tones available for one's telecommunication device and was thrown into such a fever I had to share it immediately.

And, as they say, the rest is history.

Have you had a course named after Miss Horatia Winwood yet? There may be valuable lessons in card playing and gambling one's curls to a masked stranger.

LadyDamerel · 07/07/2011 19:22

Massive, I hope I haven't offended you. Twas a poor attempt at a joke. Sorry.

TheSmallPrint · 07/07/2011 19:56

Twilight? Shock

JohnBigGunsPorter · 07/07/2011 20:01

I see the party is about to begin, is it being held here?

PasstheTwiglets · 07/07/2011 20:06

LOL, a lot of people seem to think we are Twilight fans! :) So LadyD, have you not been a fan of/aware of The Man until you came here? (Or maybe you did know of the other characters but our titles were too obscure to recognise!)

We haven't had Horry but we did have the Marcus Rule Correctional Facility for Shameless Gamblers (or words to that effect). I know nothing of Uthred, Massive, so you or Spiro will have to do the honours on that one. I am planning to ask Father Christmas to bring it for me, so that I can listen to it on the Hideously Long Plane Journey Of Doom in February... (what sort of story is it, ladies? It's not all war and fighting and testosterone, is it?)

Right, off to iron my party frock and chill the Fizzy Gizzy and will be back in a bit. Oh, quick question - who has RL drinkies at these parties?! I usually do but am doing Proper Dieting this week so trying to avoid. Not quite the same though. Mind you, my parents are here tonight so 1 bottle between 4 people isn't so bad, I guess...

LadyDamerel · 07/07/2011 20:23

I'm nearly ready, just got to get changed. The fizzy water is in the fridge and the ice and lemon are ready.

Twigs, I don't know when I first became aware of the Man. I know I saw VoD but I was 39wks+6 days at the time so he perhaps didn't have the impact on my RAdar that he otherwise might have done. I saw the first couple of episodes of Spooks 7 but wimped out after that. I think it was a thread on here about the most erotic clips from films that brought N&S to my attention and it seems to have spiralled out of control from there. I'm surprised I didn;t recognise the Rule one though. Has there been a Sylvester one that I missed too?

PasstheTwiglets · 07/07/2011 20:31

Well hellooooo, Mr Porter! My, what scary big guns you have :o Do you like my new shoes? I hope they will ok for a dance with you later? Still, mustn't hog you, I think the birthday girl should get first dibs.

I don't think we've had Sylvester, have we?

JohnBigGunsPorter · 07/07/2011 20:36

Where shall I put these?

PasstheTwiglets · 07/07/2011 20:43

This is utter rubbish but I'm panicking at being homeless and without a party frock

Well you can pour the first bottle of Gizzy straight in here you can pour the second over yourself

LadyDamerel · 07/07/2011 20:43

In the other room, please John. We're running out of space in here.

Shall we have a Sylvester themed syllabus then, perhaps covering ways of accomplished flirts making their first proposals? I'm not clever enough to think of the title, plus I still haven't got changed yet.

PasstheTwiglets · 07/07/2011 20:51

Oh, sorry LadyD, crossed posts. I tried to think of a Sylvester one but couldn't. Please feel free to do one though, as my temporary one is rubbish!

GAH, I still can't think of a party frock to wear!!

TheSmallPrintInAPartyFrock · 07/07/2011 20:56

What's going on? Where did the hunk a chunk of burning love John Porter go?

PasstheTwiglets · 07/07/2011 20:57

New thread here, latecomers
