Margaret Hale Academy of Tea-Pouring & Wallpaper Selection at the University of Milton Northern

Welcome to our new common room which, as you would expect, is decorated in impeccable taste (despite the limited choice of wallpapers available in Milton Northern). Above the marble mantelpiece hangs a portrait of the Vice-Chancellor of the University. As we recline elegantly on the chaise longue, we partake of tea and ratafia biscuits and discuss the works of Plato, although in the evening the finest wines and Polish cordials may be served.

He must wax, mustn't he?

I have to admit to being partial to a bit of cheese.

::awaits expulsion on grounds of having No Taste::

TheSmallPrint · 07/07/2011 15:34

No expulsions here Lady D, each to there own and all that. I hope he doesn't wax but I suspect that he does. He is far too baldy in SB and Spooks not to. I'm sure we have seen a photo somewhere with a bit of sproutiness....

TheSmallPrint · 07/07/2011 15:35

evidence!

SupermassiveLBD · 07/07/2011 15:35

Aren't we going to need a new building sometime during the party, I wonder?

What time are we starting btw? I can attend all right but I need to plan it in...

PasstheTwiglets · 07/07/2011 15:41

Sorry Smallio! I know you love Lucas but I thought he was 2nd to JP for you. Oh well, I will share my toys then - espeically as you are the birthday girl :)

LadyDamerel · 07/07/2011 15:42

Is this further evidence? ::employs 400% zoom::

LadyDamerel · 07/07/2011 15:47

No, on close inspection that may be shadow.

We need a closer look.

LadyDamerel · 07/07/2011 15:53

Confession time:

How many of these will you admit to? Grin

(Please will someone explain the peaches thing to me?)

PasstheTwiglets · 07/07/2011 16:47

Ah, peaches. Rather than be crude enough to explain outright, let me simply remind you that it is very important to get your 5 a day and remind you that some fruit comes in more than...

LadyDamerel · 07/07/2011 16:52

Grin. I'm with you. AND I know what you googled to find that pic ::prays LordD doesn't go through the History on the PC::

Also love the origins of your name!

PasstheTwiglets · 07/07/2011 16:53

LOL at some of the items on that lis, LadyD! I especially like no. 34, as I only discovered the term pea coat whilst searching for a Lucas coat for DrTwigs last winter :) No.25 - what is the 2nd line from? whatever it is, I think I need to watch it

PasstheTwiglets · 07/07/2011 16:55

Well it worked for Spiro, LadyD... :o

Also love the origins of your name!

Me too - it still makes me giggle after all this time. I'm thinking it's about time I changed it (for anonymity reasons) but I'm too fond of it to let it go! Also I like being called Twiggy 'cos it makes me feel thin for once :o Maybe I will just alter it slightly....

LadyDamerel · 07/07/2011 16:56

Don't know, but it's going on my Amazon wish list as soon as I find out Grin.

I'm surprised 'Close your eyes' isn't on there too. I always have a little wibble when I say it to the dcs as a certain voice echoes in my head.

Insomnia11 · 07/07/2011 16:57

Sorry I didn't say hello before - Hello! And thanks for welcoming me.

Oh most of those. I liked Marian though. The Guy/Marian scene in series 2 RH were the best!

Peaches I think is a reference to a conversation ostensibly about fruit on a fan site about 4 years ago - I'm sure someone else could explain better than me.

PasstheTwiglets · 07/07/2011 17:03

LadyD, "close your eyes" is what got me hooked on RA in the first place :o I don't so much wibble as collapse in a heap when I hear that.

Insomnia, I always wondered where that came from! Sounds like you are a woman in the know :)

LadyDamerel · 07/07/2011 17:29

I've only ever seen it on the YouTube clip that someone linked to earlier.

To be fair though, he could say 'Put the bin out' in that voice and I'd collapse into a very undignified heap. Especially when he's using his more northern vowels.

We're going to have to move buildings before the party, aren't we? ::passes responsibility to someone far more eloquent and witty::

PasstheTwiglets · 07/07/2011 17:33

LOL at put the bin out :o Oh, LadyD, in context it is... it's just... well, it's....

SupermassiveLBD · 07/07/2011 18:00

Oh, Blush how shame-making! I have to plead guilty to most of those on the list. The one about rubbishing RH and having to eat my words and finding plausible excuses to do so, rings paticularly true.

I have never written him a fan-letter though. Well, not quite.

SupermassiveLBD · 07/07/2011 18:08

Small, a very special pressie for you. Our first proper dwarf pic

But don't faint quite yet, it's not ...Him

LadyDamerel · 07/07/2011 18:33

Massive, I didn't see the second sentence of your last post and thought my RAdar was faulty because none of them looked like him.

SupermassiveLBD · 07/07/2011 18:45

And I bet you thought thank God, when you realised! All three are hardly thud-worthy. But all so different, which means we still have no idea of what Thorin will be like close up. Apart from the black leather, that is.

I bet PJ is toying with us, on purpose Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 07/07/2011 18:48

Eww, yuk, Twiggy, could you perhaps be a bit more selective in where you get your pictures of peaches? There were things in the background of your one variety pic that I really didn't wish to see.

::has dreadful flashback to Donald, his troosers and the kilt::

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 07/07/2011 18:53

I failed dismally at LadyDamerel's quiz.

::waits to be thrown out on the grounds of insufficient devotion to the cause::

OP posts:
SupermassiveLBD · 07/07/2011 18:56

I think the ''Mr Potato-face, peeled'' pic was the worst of all though...

LadyDamerel · 07/07/2011 18:57

I did actually Grin.

Just re-clicked on Twig's one variety link to see what Maud was complaining about.

Eek. How did I not spot all of that earlier? (And why didn't that site come up when I googled exactly what Twigs did, to find that very same picture).

Is someone preparing our new room for later? Decorations, party hats, etc?

To mis-quote the lovely Geraldine Kennedy nee Grainger 'Only 1 hour to get ready Shock?'
