Margaret Hale Academy of Tea-Pouring & Wallpaper Selection at the University of Milton Northern

Welcome to our new common room which, as you would expect, is decorated in impeccable taste (despite the limited choice of wallpapers available in Milton Northern). Above the marble mantelpiece hangs a portrait of the Vice-Chancellor of the University. As we recline elegantly on the chaise longue, we partake of tea and ratafia biscuits and discuss the works of Plato, although in the evening the finest wines and Polish cordials may be served.

I really have to go now. too. Rude I know but I have an early start tomorrow. Goodnight, Maud!,

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 03/07/2011 00:08

Mais non. The rugby pic is to illustrate the theme of this sporting life.

All this and speedos too,
Merci beaucoup.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 03/07/2011 00:17

::Looks back at you::

Now, you see, the speedos are the line that I will not cross. So to speak.

Morning, well just to let you know, I did have a dReAm but t was rubbish, it was all about trying to see a new DVD he was in and it turned out to be rubbish! I blame you lot talking about Amazon purchases last night Grin

So have you got my birthday surprises all planned then?

TheSmallPrint · 03/07/2011 06:51

Apologies for the use of rubbish twice, it's early and I was disappointed. Grin

DumSpiroSpero · 03/07/2011 07:09

Is your birthday today then, Small?

Here you go - first pressie from me!

DumSpiroSpero · 03/07/2011 07:13

A strippagram? To Small's house...?

Oh, go on then!

DumSpiroSpero · 03/07/2011 07:18

Mustn't forget the birthday cake

DumSpiroSpero · 03/07/2011 07:20

flowers

TheSmallPrint · 03/07/2011 07:48

Grin thanks Spiro, it's not today, I was just giving a pre birthday warning but I will gratefully accept all those lovely gifts. < grabs stripper Lucas and shoves him upstairs>

I can't seem to open my flowers though?

PasstheTwiglets · 03/07/2011 08:23

Oh I keep missing out on all the evening chat lately!

Smally, are we keeping your birthday secret in case of outing yourself? I will make sure not to mention it here if so. I did thoroughly enjoy your presents from Spiro - hope you didn't mind sharing? That "are you ok, baby?" picture Does Things To Me. It's the caption that does it. I actually blushed when I looked at it just now.

Thanks for the link to the Empire article, LadyD. I experienced a little quickening of the old heartbeat when I read that he seemed to be channelling Viggo Mortensen's Aragorn! I have been in love with Aragorn from the book for years and Viggo's portrayal was rather... alluring. So I'm liking that idea!! I've been meaning to ask yo, LadyD - are you out to your DP, with your research interest, or on undercover operations?

Oh, Maud, not that you were losing any sleep over it but I asked my friend what Spacey play we saw and it wasn't The Iceman Cometh - it was The Philadelphia Story.

Spiro, glad you had a fun night! Episode 9.1 was the first one I saw, and the one that got me into the show - I still think it's one of the best episodes ever, oestrogen aside. And I concur - Lucas at his yummiest. To think, if I hadn't watched that on a whim that night (DrTwigs was out and I was bored) then I'd never have discovered you girls and all this delicious madness we've been having fun with!

Gosh, what a long post. A prize to anyone who's made it this far.

TheSmallPrint · 03/07/2011 08:34

Spot on Twigs with the birthday, although to be fair I have revealed so much about myself anyone who knew me could spot me a mile away! FB has my birthday on.

Just seen the reviews for Richard III and they are all raving about Kevin Spacey. I bet RA will be a bit miffed at not getting there first?

PasstheTwiglets · 03/07/2011 08:40

Do you have an evening when you might be free for a little paaartay, or is it too tricky with work? We can have a late party for you in a few weeks time if not...

I have been thinking the same about me, that anybody who knows me in RL would easily know who I am! I don't really worry though as I'm fairly convinced that we are the only 6 or 7 women in the world who would bother to read this drivel :o

DumSpiroSpero · 03/07/2011 08:56

Drivel? How very dare you! Grin

DD has been introducing me to her current favourite singer via YouTube (she sings the songs in some of the Barbie films).

It's hugely adolescent but the first few lines of made me ROFL!

PasstheTwiglets · 03/07/2011 09:02

LOL, Spiro! Yes, those lyrics do ring a certain bell...

TheSmallPrint · 03/07/2011 11:28

Hahahahahahhahaha Spiro I think you have found our new academy anthem! Grin

SupermassiveLBD · 03/07/2011 16:20

Fond greetings, dear Small.
Happy birthday to you!
I hope this is the year
All your dreams will come true.

May lush design contracts
Be coming your way;
For a pad in Barbados
With an invite to stay.

A penthouse in New York.
A villa in Spain.
Stately homes in the country
A bank tower or two

Your clients will be angels
And bow to your choice
While the Smallboys learn the cello
And pick up their toys.

Serenity will rule
Your days evermore
At your smart Mayfair townhouse
With your Porsche at the door

You?ll spend nights at the theatre
Perhaps Richard the Third?
You have quite a fondness
For Richards, I have heard Wink

Or curled up on the sofa
With some DVD with the Man
Keeping your cool
With your Industrial Fan

And if you are lucky,
John Porter will call
And bring along Lucas
Boy, will you have a ball!

Why even John Thornton
And Gizzy might show.
So you?ll not have much time
To Mumsnet, I know

As you check out the good doctor
And young Lee as well
And perhaps the odd dwarf
From far Rivendell

So fond greetings, dear Small
Happy birthday once more
May your future be golden
With blessings galore!

SupermassiveLBD · 03/07/2011 16:34

To be collected on the appropriate date, naturally.

SupermassiveLBD · 03/07/2011 16:45

Um, slight miscalculation in verse three. Forgive me, I had distractions. As opposed to distRActions.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 03/07/2011 17:39

Wow, how can anyone follow Massive's epic ode?

Let's drink a toast to Small's birthday.

PasstheTwiglets · 03/07/2011 18:04

Wow, Massive, that was amazing.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 03/07/2011 18:14

Thanks ladies, I am still kicking myself over verse three though, can't think how that got past me. Will try to fix it asap Blush
