Margaret Hale Academy of Tea-Pouring & Wallpaper Selection at the University of Milton Northern

Welcome to our new common room which, as you would expect, is decorated in impeccable taste (despite the limited choice of wallpapers available in Milton Northern). Above the marble mantelpiece hangs a portrait of the Vice-Chancellor of the University. As we recline elegantly on the chaise longue, we partake of tea and ratafia biscuits and discuss the works of Plato, although in the evening the finest wines and Polish cordials may be served.

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Er... er... er... um.
The End.

TheSmallPrint · 03/07/2011 19:53

Massive, I LOVE my birthday poem! Grin Grin, it's fantastic - including verse 3. I love you ladies!

SupermassiveLBD · 03/07/2011 20:40

Thanks Small. My anal nature is tormenting me for not having a rhyme in verse three

How about

A penthouse in New York.
A villa in Rome.
A bank tower or two
And the odd stately home.

Or howabout:

A penthouse in New York.
A villa in Rome.
A table in the kitchen
And the odd stately home.

Kitchen tables are good! A nice strong one, with sturdy legs, perhaps.

PasstheTwiglets · 03/07/2011 20:57

See, I was just cracking a silly joke but now I've come over all unnecessary...

PasstheTwiglets · 03/07/2011 21:01

What do you think led up to that scene? Do you think it was all tender and lovely and then got a bit more heated, or do you think he stormed into her house and just grabbed her without saying a word? I like to think it's the latter :)

SupermassiveLBD · 03/07/2011 21:19

Twigs, I haven't seen Spooks 9 so I can't help you there I am afraid! Wink

LadyDamerel · 03/07/2011 21:38

Wow, Massive, I am in AWE at Small's poem, it's fantastic (with or without the edits to v3).

Small, Happy Birthday for the appropriate day, here's some more flowers for you.

Twigs, I am firmly an undercover ReseArcher at the moment, although my growing collection of ReseAch mateRiAls may out me fairly soon, particularly as my RH set is due to arrive tomorrow and DH is working from home.......

TheSmallPrint · 03/07/2011 21:45

Hee hee I like Twigs' input there for verse 3.

Twigs wasn't she at his house?

Lady D thank you for my flowers too.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 03/07/2011 21:46

Have invented a new parlour game: Re-invented Classics of Literataure. For example -

By Grand Central Station I Sat Down and Swooned.

Fab poem Massive - well done you!

Am rewatching series 9 at the moment - the kitchen table is what happens after 'Close your eyes' Twigs.

DumSpiroSpero · 03/07/2011 21:48

I'm guessing we may lose Twigs for quite some time at this point...Grin

SupermassiveLBD · 03/07/2011 21:56

hello, Lady D. How exciting for you, RH on its way. I have just remembered I am lacking season 2. But I am thinking of going for something a 'little more covert as I have Mr M working from home a lot too these days.

TheSmallPrint · 03/07/2011 21:57

Maud I would join in your lovely new parlour game but I fear it would reveal my ignorance in the world of classic literature Blush

TheSmallPrint · 03/07/2011 22:01

I wonder if I will be allowed to watch Spooks 9 on the big tele as a birthday treat...

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 03/07/2011 22:01

Small - I think there's a bit of leeway in what counts as classic.

Great game, Maud, You already picked the best one!

Spiro you are really temptimg me to get Spooks 9 too. but how many episodes dare I watch before i have to dissolve in floods of tears?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 03/07/2011 22:11

It's only really the last episode of s9, I think, Massive (although as a Lucas sceptic I am not best placed to judge this).

The idea for the game came to me during a particularly transcendent piece of Schubert.

The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner.

PasstheTwiglets · 03/07/2011 22:16

Massive, the thudding will outweigh the tears, I promise.

Spiro, the table scene was after Close Your Eyes?! I never got that!! Well then, that's me done in forever. As if Close Your Eyes wasn't the thing that got me hooked in the first place, to know what followed is too much for a delicate soul like me to cope with :)

Maud, lovely game! I was too hignorant to know your quote though Blush I may hev been tempted to use another picture for Oranges Are Not... :o

LadyD, I am out to DH but there are certain DVDs which have been sold to him under other purposes. You know, I've always been interested in Impressionist painting, I wish I knew more about it... LOL though, I was listening to Venetia whilst cooking yesterday and DrTwigs commented "I see tonight's dinner was narrated by Richard Armitage..." :o

Once again Maud, I could've used another picture for that one too :o
