Margaret Hale Academy of Tea-Pouring & Wallpaper Selection at the University of Milton Northern

Welcome to our new common room which, as you would expect, is decorated in impeccable taste (despite the limited choice of wallpapers available in Milton Northern). Above the marble mantelpiece hangs a portrait of the Vice-Chancellor of the University. As we recline elegantly on the chaise longue, we partake of tea and ratafia biscuits and discuss the works of Plato, although in the evening the finest wines and Polish cordials may be served.

Light is the word, Spiro. At first I thought they had just spelt the first syllable wrong.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 29/06/2011 23:38

The bottle looks like a Newcastle Briwn one that''s been given a makeover by the props department and the beverage in the glass looks like beer but, really, who's looking at the drinks here?

Anyway, I prefer wine.

Well it has mixed reviews if you Google it - one write up described it as high quality and another as 90% water Confused

DumSpiroSpero · 29/06/2011 23:41

Shouldn't have thought you'd be qualified for rolling cigars any longer?

??? Confused

Never mind Camberwell Carrot - I could roll a Peckham Parsnip on my thighs at the very least

SupermassiveLBD · 29/06/2011 23:43

I thought cigars had to be rolled on an unmarried lady's thighs, you see

DumSpiroSpero · 29/06/2011 23:45

If JP was on offer that could be arranged...Wink

SupermassiveLBD · 29/06/2011 23:45

Re the Pivo, may be the ''quality'' review came from across the pond. they like their beer 90% water, don't they?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 29/06/2011 23:58

Meant to say, Spiro, that I am harbouring no thoughts of South Africa. I have been refining my filing system.

And with that, I'm off to bed.

Oh yes, Massive, the credit is all mine. I took that photo myself. Cough.

Absolutely had to post this link to another thread Grin!

PasstheTwiglets · 30/06/2011 08:46

Morning, ladies - well I missed a night and a half here, didn't I?! We need a 'Like' button, a la Facebook, so that I can just go back and marke verything I like that way! Highlights had to be Maud's Lucas in the bar - wowzers, that was some photo. I don't reall seeing that full version before, though I'm sure I must have. And Massive's 'knickers tucked into skirt' vignette made me snort with laughter!

Oh, and very well done to Massive on explaining the cigar thing in such a delicate, ladylike manner :o

Spiro, sorry to hear you aren't getting much you-time at the moment. DrTwigs is out tonight so I am going to watch the last episode of Sense & Sensibility and will be around to play if anybody else is.

Are your teachers on strike today? I'm going to take the kids to the zoo for the day but I bet every other parent has the same idea and it will be packed...

PasstheTwiglets · 30/06/2011 09:04

Have yo useen the MN survey? They asked a question about what you mainly visit Mumsnet for... not quite sure how to describe what we do here but 'lusting' wasn't an option :o

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 30/06/2011 11:40

I know that I have posted that Lucas pic before, Twiggy. Codename: Whistler's Mother

Right. Off to do the MN census.

I will soon be getting some more 'me time' as my Head has just agreed to me changing my hours so I will only be working 4 days a week (same hours - doing 1 long day to make the time up) - yippee!

SupermassiveLBD · 30/06/2011 13:57

Mind you, you will all be ROFL at me when you read the rest of this. but I have just come home from a local shopping mall, all of a doo-dah Grin

I was walking along there, minding my own buisness, when I happened to look up and see the back view of a wide-shouldered, narrow hipped six-footer with third season Gizzy hair. He turned slightly as I got closer so you could just see his jawline. and he had the stubble too.

I expect the rest of him was nothing like, but I couldn't lurk for a surruptitious checking out as Mr M was in attendence. Golly gee, though it didn't half give me a good old lurch in the gut.

How daft can you get?

Btw I have worked out why Maud's show-stopper pic of Lucas last night stirred me so. You usually get a palette of blues in a Spooks still, and this was all dark reds and oranges a la Nottingham Castle. And the stubble seemed a bit longer than usual too. So I could see Gizzy there behind Lucas North and that is something I can't usually see at all.

Spiro, how great that you are going to get a bit more play-time from now on!

PasstheTwiglets · 30/06/2011 15:58

Maud, ah, of course - now that you call it by its codename, I remember it!

Spiro, great news about your 4 day week! So you will have a day to yourself - that will be great for more you-time. Does that mean that your job is safe for now?

Massive, I can just picture your Private Thud there, how funny!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 30/06/2011 16:42

Gizzy lookalikes on the island?

::books flight::

OP posts:
SupermassiveLBD · 30/06/2011 17:23

I bet he looked nothing like, full face on and close up. But from the back at a distance, with just the side of his jaw showing, it was disconcerting enough...
