Margaret Hale Academy of Tea-Pouring & Wallpaper Selection at the University of Milton Northern

Welcome to our new common room which, as you would expect, is decorated in impeccable taste (despite the limited choice of wallpapers available in Milton Northern). Above the marble mantelpiece hangs a portrait of the Vice-Chancellor of the University. As we recline elegantly on the chaise longue, we partake of tea and ratafia biscuits and discuss the works of Plato, although in the evening the finest wines and Polish cordials may be served.

Now that's my kind of fancy dress!

Magic Moments was always very popular when I was doing hospital radio for some reason.Confused

SupermassiveLBD · 25/06/2011 12:45

Maybe it was a good incentive to get better, Spiro-- so you could go home and not be forced to listen to it any more Grin

PasstheTwiglets · 25/06/2011 13:24

LOL, Massive!

So I think I need to create a better role model for my children. MissTwigs put on my shoes just now and said "ooooh look at me, I'm Mummy, I'm going to have some wine and then look at Twitter, I wonder if Lucas North will be on there?" :o That's almost as bad as the time both kids were playing Mummies and Daddies and they put a dolly in the pram and said "Come on, let's go to the pub". I wouldn't have minded but we never go to the pub!

DumSpiroSpero · 25/06/2011 16:19

Grin at Miss Twigs! We were in Debenhams earlier when DD saw a mug with 'Dead Handsome' on it and suggested I could get it for daddy, I said 'nah' and she replied "I bet you'd get one for Richard Armitage if you were married to him" Blush

On the upside I did manage to talk Mr S into buying another Porter-esque shirt

PasstheTwiglets · 25/06/2011 16:26

LOL at MissSpiro!

That shirt is nice. For some reason, the rolled-up sleeves always seem to make them look more Porteresque...

PasstheTwiglets · 25/06/2011 16:32

JP, fullinging many fantasies

DumSpiroSpero · 25/06/2011 16:43

LOL!

I think it's this shirt I always have in the back of my mind. Ikwym about the rolled sleeves, and also the fabric - brushed rather than crisp cotton.

As for Miss Spiro - I was very grateful that it wasn't busy and that Mr S was wandering off in the opposite direction at the time!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/06/2011 17:02

I'm afraid, Twigoletto, that the Lav Nacinood cardidgan shots do not float my boat at all. I have very high standards when it comes to gentlemen's attire.

Sorry to hear that Small is having a bad time. Chin up, Small. And what a chin.

Ha! at all these perceptive children.

I always think of that shirt too, Spiro, and I got DrTwigs one almost exactly the same last year - I love it :)

SupermassiveLBD · 25/06/2011 17:37

Thumbs down for the knitwear, thumbs up for the shirts, from the island jury.

And thank goodness for the SB's rutabaga-style emotional intelligence which means I never get zapped with incendiary remarks a la Miss Twigs and Miss Spiro. Yikes and Blush at the thought...

Wot, no new pics today? We were rather spolt, yesterday weren't we? Grin

DumSpiroSpero · 25/06/2011 21:41

Seriously? No-one around and I have a new toy to play with?

Come out, come out wherever you are! Grin

SupermassiveLBD · 25/06/2011 21:58

Hello Spiro, it has been one of those days here. What new toy is this?

DumSpiroSpero · 25/06/2011 22:02

I have a laptop at last! Early birthday pressie from my lovely mum.

DumSpiroSpero · 25/06/2011 22:07

One of those days? How so?

DumSpiroSpero · 25/06/2011 22:11

How about as an Academy theme tune? Grin

Heard it playing in a shop today and thought "Yup!"

SupermassiveLBD · 25/06/2011 22:12

Oh congratulations, how great! For the writing and all. Have you got a memory stick?

I'ts been one of those days when I have felt reall bleurgh all day. Woken up out of a deep sleep by noisy neighbours crashing car doors and shouting in the wee small hours etc and never recovered. Hot and sticky thundery weather hasn't helped.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/06/2011 22:23

::staggers in::

Good evening ladies. I've been to a marvellous party.

Yes - no-one else is getting their hands on this baby - it's mine...all mine!

Weather here has been crap for weeks - one minute it's glorious sunshine, the next it is absolutely tipping down. I went to DD's summer fair last week in sandals, sunglasses and a sodding winter coat - I must have looked a proper numpty!

DumSpiroSpero · 25/06/2011 22:25

Evening Maud! Did you see my previous post or are you psychic? Grin

SupermassiveLBD · 25/06/2011 22:29

Oh, Pet Shop Boys a gogo.

do tell me about your party, Maud and let me live vicariously

Spiro ROFL @ your Academy anthem

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/06/2011 22:32

It was your post that reminded me how much I like the PSBs, Spiro.

A summary of the party for Massive

A garden lit by evening sun
An impromptu barbecue
A bucket of Polish-cordial based cocktail
Convivial company

Was very good.

Sounds lovley maudie.

I suppose if I had to pock my most approprtiate PSB song, it would be

SupermassiveLBD · 25/06/2011 22:59

severe pince-nez mlafunction here btw, it's like a sauna and I can hardly see.

DumSpiroSpero · 25/06/2011 23:00

Am just watching the last episode of Strikeback before starting to write a new story. As much as I appreciate many of the attributes of 'Truce' I have to say I can't really see Porter and Layla getting it on when I watch them on screen.
