Welcome to our newest faculty building. Make yourselves comfortable and ignore the smell of paint. We cannot keep up with the demand for new premises.

My knitting skills match yours, Missy! I have never knitted a thing, other than holes.

Ah, turkey and cranbery sauce, another novel experience for Gizzy there, they had to make do with a goose or a couple of capons in his day. It's a thrill a minute for him around us.

And talking of thrills, the nightingale says hello.

What did I miss, here, re pants? I only skimmed that fic, Teri wouldn't lt me get a look-in and I had a houseful to boot.

OP posts:
Theresahollyinyourmind · 21/12/2010 00:08

leather?????? Mon dieu!

OP posts:
MrsLucasNorthPole · 21/12/2010 00:14

But they're woollen in the fanfic. You need to scroll to about halfway down to get to the, ahem, interesting bit Blush

May be a little low-brow for your good self Holly, but am sure Teri would appreciate it!

MrsLucasNorthPole · 21/12/2010 00:17

OMG! Have just found a website with a pattern and instructions for making braies!

Do you think that would be going a bit too far wrt playing DH dress-up? Hmm

Theresahollyinyourmind · 21/12/2010 00:20

That's a relief, Mrs LNP, Actually my reading of trashy historical novels own research bears that out. I had never heard of leather unerpants, eewww.

Honstly all human life is here in the academy...

OP posts:
MrsLucasNorthPole · 21/12/2010 00:24

Dread to think where I'd come on the Academy's evolutionary scale Xmas Grin!

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 21/12/2010 00:26

Mrs LNP - I thought I was on shaky ground saying (repeatedly, oops) that fan fic was derivative (why use someone else's characters instead of your own?), a waste of time, blah blah blah, when I'd never read any. So, in a spirit of intellectual enquiry, I read it. My views are unchanged. But each to their own. And morally upright isn't about what one reads, is it?

MrsLucasNorthPole · 21/12/2010 00:34

I've never read fanfic in my life until the link Oyster sent me a few weeks ago, and the one I linked to.

I can't get my head around it entirely as I would find it harder to write a character someone else had created (I know my boys were based on other characters, but GTN was very much his own person in my head, JL less so which was why he fell by the wayside fairly rapidly).

That said I think it serves its purpose for a bit of escapism, if you stumble across something that appeals. Wouldn't spend hours trawling for it though.

MrsLucasNorthPole · 21/12/2010 00:36

I hope morally upright isn't about what one reads...

Theresahollyinyourmind · 21/12/2010 00:37

Maybe as well Teri wouldn't let me read that.

I meant knowledge of all human life, MrsLNP, sorry to be unclear. You as our resident anatomy expert, hold a respected place, naturally

OP posts:
asmallbunchofmistletoe · 21/12/2010 00:41

Exactly, if it appeals then that's fine and dandy. But, frankly, I think there's more erotic power in Mrs Gaskell's reference to a time of delicious silence. You're right, I think, to want to create your own characters, as that must give you a lot more space for invention.

I really need to get to bed, but shall we have ?

Theresahollyinyourmind · 21/12/2010 00:46

A joy forever, in very truth, no matter what the underwear, Missy. Sigh.
Wishing you a peaceful night.

OP posts:
asmallbunchofmistletoe · 21/12/2010 00:47

Resident anatomy expert?

MrsLucasNorthPole · 21/12/2010 00:50

I have no problems with Mrs Gaskell's 'time of delicious silence', after all, sometimes less is more.

Night, night!

Theresahollyinyourmind · 21/12/2010 00:50

Shades of poor John Porter, trussed up on the barbecue, there, Missy.

OP posts:
Theresahollyinyourmind · 21/12/2010 00:52

And sometimes more is not enough!!!!

Teri! Drink your coffee!

Goodnight MrsLNP

OP posts:
MrsLucasNorthPole · 21/12/2010 00:53

I wouldn't say I'm an anatomy expert, I think I've probably just overdosed on BtS with its sex therapy storyline!

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 21/12/2010 00:54

Oh, do you think so, Holly? I'd never seen anything cruel in it. I think he's making some point about geometry, isn't he?

Theresahollyinyourmind · 21/12/2010 00:56

I don't really think so, don't fret, Missy. I was just being facetious.
Goodnight again.

OP posts:
MrsLucasNorthPole · 21/12/2010 08:01

happy festive Lucas Xmas Grin

bupcakesandcunting · 21/12/2010 10:33

So where are we at with our studies, ladies?

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 21/12/2010 10:42

Oh, cupcakes. How lovely to see you!

As you will see, the august institution which you founded goes from strength to strength. We often raise a glass to you in thanks. Of course, controversy continues to rage about which is the most scrumptious Armitage incarnation and it's probably fair to say that we have mixed feelings about his being a dwarf in the Hobbit. But hey.

Do you ever read the threads?

bupcakesandcunting · 21/12/2010 10:47

Ooooh, that's warmed my cockles up on a winter's day. Ooh la la indeed Grin

I still think about the Sexy Back 2 video at random times and end up shaking with laughter. Best thing ever.

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 21/12/2010 11:19

Yes, even I as a Lucas sceptic can see that that is tres tres ooh la la. Do you only think about SB2? Don't you watch it?
