Welcome to the new common room! Grab yourself some Twiglets and a glass of Chateau Gisborne or some Polish Cordial and come on in - the water's lovely!

Offspring hasn't so far offered any view on the petulant little person - she is far more engrossed in whether fair Marian will marry gorgeous Guy.

We're back from a shopping trip, watching more of series one. Guy has just shown Marian his chest (the one containing his money, not his muscled torso) and told her that he is a man of substance and can provide for her. Offspring snorted derisively and told Guy "She can provide for herself, you twonk". So I suspect she may have some sympathy for the petulant. But she wants to be one of the tattooed Saracen ninja girls we saw yesterday.

StripeyMoon · 03/12/2010 18:27

Evening scholars. I have now purchased a Lucas jacket from Debs for DH Xmas Grin hope he looks as nice in it as LN.

asmallbunchofflowers · 03/12/2010 18:33

Oh, Stripey, well done. Have you got the jeans and the dark blue shirt, too?

Bodenbabe · 03/12/2010 18:43

Oh Stripey, how fab! Can you surreptitiously post a pic of him in his new jacket when it arrives? :)

We are taking the Minis to London tomorrow to see the Xmas lights (on a Saturday close to Xmas - am I crazy?!) and I want to try and fit in a quick Lucas shopping session for DH if the kids will stand it. I might have to have a quick look at that jacket when we're there :) On shopping list is black shirt, midnight blue shirt and new coat.

Incidentally, the pic of John Porter on his Twitter background is mighty fine. Not sure if this link will work or not

Muy caliente, Boden.

Is there a doctor in the house? I think I'm .

Theresaholeinyourmind · 03/12/2010 20:09

Hi all. loving the vid. Not too sure about some of the comments though. Grin

Grin also at the thought of the prospective Lucas clones, being surruptiously being outfitted. Little do they know it's all a cunning plot.

Nice JP piccie, Boden, thanks for the chance to drool make his better acquaintance.

asmallbunchofflowers · 03/12/2010 20:15

I never dare read the comments, Theresa. Some of them do not, ahem, measure up to our level of erudition and intellectual insight.

But I have an interesting nugget of research to bring you. John Standring is in fact Ralph John Standring, so not really a John at all. Where does that leave our emerging theory?

Theresaholeinyourmind · 03/12/2010 20:21

Fascinating, Flowers. As were some of the shots in that vid But enough of those.. Does your research tell you how his Standring character is addressed in the film? that might be a clue? No.

RH repeat night today. I tried to resist switching it on and ssadly, succumbed-- only to find him Doing the Deed. My own fault of course.

asmallbunchofflowers · 03/12/2010 20:28

Well, based on my in-depth research on YT he is addressed as John. But a rose by any other name, et cetera et cetera et cetera. So do we still accept him as a John? Or do we believe that once a Ralph, always a Ralph? In either case, .

Moments ago we started series two. Guy has just told Marian to b.e.g.

MrsLucasNorth · 03/12/2010 20:28

I am having an evening with Dr Track myself. His colleagues aren't bad either Grin

asmallbunchofflowers · 03/12/2010 20:31
Theresaholeinyourmind · 03/12/2010 20:34

Wouldn't you just, though, Flowers? Or maybe you wouldn't, I know who your heart belongs to.

Mrs LN, I hope you are getting a through MOT from the good doctor.

asmallbunchofflowers · 03/12/2010 20:43

Perhaps MrsLN is, ahem, cheating?

Frankly, Theresa, to judge by the blissed-out look on his face, I thought you'd got there first.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 03/12/2010 20:50

I am a fast little begger, Flowers.

Actually, he is just exasperated at something, more's the pity.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 03/12/2010 20:52

But still

asmallbunchofflowers · 03/12/2010 20:58

Yes, I know. Guy rarely (if ever) attains a state of bliss. Despondency and rage are more his metier. But there was something about that pose (I thought) that looked not unlike bliss, if one did not know the context or chose to ignore it while harbouring naughty thoughts.

But behave yourself. We are under the stern and watchful gaze of one of impeccable morals.

asmallbunchofflowers · 03/12/2010 21:00

As before, Theresa. You can project onto that whatever you wish.

MrsLucasNorth · 03/12/2010 21:00

I know that given the number of 100% 'phwoooar' roles he's played it sounds bonkers but tbh after last night I am ever so slightly in love with Ralph!

MrsLucasNorth · 03/12/2010 21:02

Oh Theresa...yum!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 03/12/2010 21:07

Oh, yes, the fine upstanding Mr Thornton. A towering figure of rectitude.

I wouldn't dare gaze at him all narrow-eyed and speculative, like I was at Guy there.

I have been googling Aphra Behn. Her life would make a good movie, as she seems to have been a spy for Rngland, amongst other things. So it could be a Restoration version of Spooks

Bodenbabe · 03/12/2010 21:07

at 'cheating' clip - a classic of our time, for sure. His short hair is so cute in that programme.

MrsLN, are we referring to the Irish guy? I concur, if so :)

Goodness me, those Guy photos Shock

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 03/12/2010 21:10

His expression in Cheating is just priceless!

I told you Boden, Guy's just annoyed about something!

Sort of FFS, rather than OMG.

asmallbunchofflowers · 03/12/2010 21:14

You see, there is hope for you, MrsLN. Goodness and niceness are eternal, whereas phwooar tends to be short-lived.

Some gentleman, though, do combine all three qualities.

MrsLucasNorth · 03/12/2010 21:15

Speaking of RA and war time spies...

I know I've posted it before but...
