Welcome to the new common room! Grab yourself some Twiglets and a glass of Chateau Gisborne or some Polish Cordial and come on in - the water's lovely!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 03/12/2010 00:43

YOu really shouldn't put so much Polish Cordial in his cocoa.
That is not a bad smile for Guy. He is not a toothpaste ad, FHS. They hadn't invented it yet, had to get the apothecary to make up little potions of his own.

asmallbunchofflowers · 03/12/2010 00:43

Oh bugger Strike Back. Working from photographs is less than ideal. I'd just need to get him to model for me.

I don't the guests would need a twiglet so much as a fire blanket. Although ignoring the food might be a wise tactic.

And totally off topic, but I found this curiosity in the . Come to think of it, maybe not off topic at all.

asmallbunchofflowers · 03/12/2010 00:50

I agree. It's rather a sweet smile for your Guy. Let's not think about the likely state of his teeth, although eating those apples should help, I suppose.

Well, I hadn't realised quite how late it had got. I must lock the door the basement, to avoid any further temptation, and go to bed.

Toodle pip.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 03/12/2010 00:53

Clever lyrics, that's what I like about the standards.

Lookee here, Flowers, what planet are you on? If you got John Porter to model for you I don't think you could keep your mind on the job, you would keep squishing the clay involuntarily and having to start from scratch.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 03/12/2010 00:54

Okay, you to your modelling thoughts and me to mine of Guy and chocolate.

asmallbunchofflowers · 03/12/2010 01:03

Nay, nay and thrice nay, Theresa. I can be trusted with John Porter as it would be All For Art.

StripeyMoon · 03/12/2010 07:59

Morning all. Many thanks for last night's art work. Another heavy work day for me so I will see you all later.

Please don't talk about Strikeback, I am still DVDless Sad.

MrsLucasNorth · 03/12/2010 08:07

Worth the wait Stripey!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 03/12/2010 10:42

Judging from that photo, you have to be right about Strike Back, Mrs LN.
Morning ladies, I hope everything goes like clockwork for you all in RL, so you have the time and energy left for more important things.

PrairieOyster · 03/12/2010 11:04

I really do need to watch De-Lovely (I think that's what it's called) - I adore Cole Porter, don't know why I haven't seen it - must investigate if we have copy of it somewhere (possible as I am pretty sure hubby has watched it).

Strike Back, Strike Back - yes indeed, think I may be due for a re-watch of that soon. I miss JP.

MrsLucasNorth · 03/12/2010 11:31

I think I slightly prefer JP to Lucas tbh. He's a bit more 'real' iykwim?

Bodenbabe · 03/12/2010 12:51

MrsLN! I am shocked, shocked, I tell you! Does this mean a name change is on the cards? :)

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 03/12/2010 12:55

Me too, Boden. I can see what she means, but for me the mystery and unknowableness of Lucas is part of the attraction. Of course I haven't seen series 9 and I expect your opinion on the validity of that will affect your judgement.

So tell us about JP. What's his USP?

MrsLucasNorth · 03/12/2010 13:24

Boden - I am probably swayed by the fact I get more twirting from JP than Lucas on Twitter Grin! Obviously wouldn't say no to either given the opportunity.

Been watching Dibley this week as well, and still recovering from Sparkhouse. An unorthodox choice of character as anyone who has seen it will agree, but John Standring is so shy and sweet and vulnerable and different to the characters RA has played lately that it's really nice to watch.

PrairieOyster · 03/12/2010 13:38

MrsLN

A bit of attention and you switch loyalties - tch tch

Some really excruciating moments in SH for JS - make me squirm (not in a good way)

MrsLucasNorth · 03/12/2010 13:43

Totally agree, Oyster, Sparkhouse is very hard to watch in places (and I don't just mean the obvious bit at the beginning of epsiode two, which I knew about anyway).

It does make you realise what a fantastic actor he is as I find that all the while I'm watching him play one character, I am virtually unable to remember how he plays any of the others.

There's obviously a lot to be said for method acting.

asmallbunchofflowers · 03/12/2010 13:44

Morning all. Grumble, grumble. Weekend booze cruise cultural excursion to the Continong cancelled because of surfeit of snow and lack of means of getting there. Offspring seems to have started watching RH series 1 again from the beginning. I think she over identifies with Marian.

Although I am not qualified to comment, I thought John Porter's USP was his expansive torso?

MrsLucasNorth · 03/12/2010 13:48

Well it helps Flowers, but I think as RA himself has said, it's the dichotomy of someone who is a family man then being able to go into a warzone and kill people that make the character fascinating.

Am not sure what they're planning to do with him as RA is off to Hobbit land. It's a shame as I felt they'd really only scratched the surface of the character and could have developed him a lot further in Series 2.

Since they've already killed off the other lead I really can't see how Series 2 is going to work...?

MrsLucasNorth · 03/12/2010 13:49

I have a relative who was in the same line of work as JP is initially in Strike Back, so for me there's a personal fascination as well.

Bodenbabe · 03/12/2010 13:58

LOL at preferring JP 'cos he twirts more :) He is definitely easier to get a response from...

OP posts:
MrsLucasNorth · 03/12/2010 14:01

Which I guess is true to form. He seems 'warmer' than Lucas too. Ditto I guess.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 03/12/2010 14:37

Naughty Boden, twirting with JP too? Tut.

Bodenbabe · 03/12/2010 15:50

Wrt JP, I tweet but I don't twirt :) I've never seen Strike Back, not even a speaking clip on YT, so I don't fancy him have any opinion about his character yet and therefore don't feel the newed to twirt. I'm sure I will do though :)

Flowers, hard luck about the trip, what a nuisance :( Will you rescedule?

Theresa, it occurs to me that you and I know different Lucases, as you've never seen S9 and I've only seen S9! MrsLN, remind me, have you seen 7 & 8?

Meant to commiserate with Theresa and Stripey about the missing RA discs. These are important set texts so I hope they both turn up soon for you.

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 03/12/2010 16:13

Sorry to get the wrong idea about your Twittering with JT. Boden. It was very bad of me.

TBH re Lucas, I have only seen S7 and the first four episodes of S8. He just seems so sad and broken and fragile, most of the time that I can hardly bring myself to watch further.
Great compliment to the acting again, here. That you can get so involved in it all.

Bodenbabe · 03/12/2010 16:26

You have nothing to apologise for, Theresa! Doesn't matter at all... Some people are very twirty with Lucas but I just do innocent, playful twirting because dh follows me on twitter anything more is most unbecoming :o
