I am what some term a 'hotwife', although that word gives me the ick.

I have sex with people other than my husband, a a friend with benefits whom I'd seen for a over a year, and friends all within the swinging world.

My husband joins socially and for things like a party but isn't so keen on meeting women solo. We've also jointly attended a club, but the dynamic wasn't for us.

Did it require years of training? Are you really athletic with a great sense of balance? Do you have special equipment in your garden? Do you put shows on for the local children?

Well, I knew a swinger once. He was an FWB. I didn't swing with him! But he was not the type of person you're talking about AT ALL. He was British, but head of a division at Deloitte in New York, he was tall and slim, quite good-looking, drove a Porsche, and earned one million dollars a year. House in NYC and in the Hamptons. And he was great in bed. He was a very gentle person, too. A gentle giant. The only part of your prejudice that makes sense is that he was older, but I think he'd always been into an alternative lifestyle. Even if his life was painfully conservative on the outside.

I knew another man who was extremely conservative on the outside. You'd never in a month of Sundays guess how kinky he was. Very preppy, very good-looking - think Ralph Lauren/male model type - and the best I've ever had in bed. (We didn't really do anything kinky.) He was a don at a top university.
Both of these men had early marriages that hadn't worked out but were devoted fathers - the second man had his kids with him full-time.

Some of you really need to examine your preconceptions and prejudices! The people who like a more intense sex life than most are just people, same as you and I, and they're in all walks of life. They have families, careers etc. Judging by my sample size of two (yes, I know!) they are people who are a lot of fun and don't let life or the world get them down. They want to enjoy life. And they're amazing in bed even when not doing their other stuff.

What’s the keen insight? I’ve just said what I suspect is the truth based on having read threads like this on MN over the years. To date, nothing I’ve ever seen written about the swinging scene has convinced me my suspicions are wrong.
