I used to be a sex worker, ask me anything

For 12 years I worked as an escort, I also did occasional phone & cam work. I varied between working full time and part time, but around half was full time and the other half part time.

I've been put off doing one of these because of how they usually go but I'm always banging on about people making assumptions about sex workers and accepting stereotypes about us so I might as well.

To be clear, this is a thread for people who want to ask questions, not for people who just want to make a point about sex work or sex workers.

Anyway, if anybody cares...ask away Smile

Did you consider that the work made men believe a woman’s body can have a value attached to it?

She did you stop working OP? I was an escort for a few years around 2005ish when it was mostly agency work. Did AW massively change how things worked? I imagine a lot more girls work independently now and I’m curious how that works in terms of safety compared to having an agency.

No, because I didn't sell my body. I sold sexual services, but there are plenty of services which can be bought but also can be free.

If people continue with the idea that sex workers sell their bodies then honestly I think this has a more more detrimental effect on women because our 'value' as humans shouldn't have any connection to what we choose to do sexually.

Did it ever feel 'wrong' and/or upsetting to have to do this for a living or were you mostly able to adopt an it is what it is and I've got to pay the bills approach to your job?

I actually have no idea! The oldest they admitted to was 86 though to the best of my memory.

There are a few ways to tell who's going to push boundaries or otherwise cause harm, but I'm not going to go into details on a public forum. I do recognise your username from olden times though so if you like I'll send a DM with what I used to do. These days there are apps and reporting services too which is a godsend.

I stopped in March because of the pandemic, initially temporarily but I don't think it's likely to be that temporary and I don't like to not be working so I started other work in June.

I did agency work when I first started, absolutely hated it! Independent work was much better for me, in terms of safety I find it much better because I found agencies don't actually bother with it much at all.

AW was a game changer for a couple of years but not so much anymore.

An ignore fetish. Only once in 12 years but it was surprisingly difficult!
