I work in Gregg's ask me anything.

Having had my first ever sausage roll last week what makes them so damn tasty
Baconrollandalattee · 01/03/2019 18:30
I think it's the 97 layers of pastry that makes the sausage rolls so tasty.
I'm pretty sure the Iceland ones are exactly the same. They come into the shop frozen looking identical.
My favourite food is a sausage, bean and cheese melt or a bacon and cheese wrap.
I can never resist temptation and the 50% staff discount doesn't help.
Autumnchill · 01/03/2019 18:34
No questions but the Gregory Gregory campaign was genius! Actually made me go into one and try a salad (and it was really nice)
Baconrollandalattee · 01/03/2019 18:41
The discount is great but not for my figure.
Baconrollandalattee · 01/03/2019 18:42
Oh yes and that campaign was great. Gregg's do seem to have a great advertising team.

I bloody love Greggs - but since developing an intolerance to yeast a couple of years ago I've not been able to partake 😠Don't suppose you know if any of your pasties/pastries don't contain yeast do you? I've checked the ingredients of the ones that are sold in Iceland - which all do.
Baconrollandalattee · 01/03/2019 18:49
I will have a look at the allergin guide when I'm in work tomorrow Cuppa and see if I can find out.

What is the deal with strawberry tarts? When do they come out, when do they take them away and why do they toy with us like this?
Baconrollandalattee · 01/03/2019 18:55
I don't know about the drive through although I wouldn't be surprised.
We don't have strawberry tarts in our store so I can't answer that but it's probably a special item that comes and goes.
Some shops still sell bread but not ours which is a shame because it was lovely.
Baconrollandalattee · 01/03/2019 18:56
We don't do cheese scones either. I think I need to move and sample some of this stuff.
picklemepopcorn · 01/03/2019 18:57
The shops in Wales sell a much bigger iced slice at the same price as an English one. I think they cut the trays the other way. I only buy them when I'm in Wales, now...
Why is there a difference?
domesticslattern · 01/03/2019 18:57
How many vegan sausage rolls do you actually shift, or was it just a marketing campaign swizz to draw attention to Greggs generally?
Also, the age old MN question, is it acceptable to give a toddler a Greggs sausage roll and a fruit shoot for dinner?
Mountain1234 · 01/03/2019 18:58
Why are they cold 95% of the time. It’s come to the point that when I do actually get a hot one, it doesn’t taste right and I have to wait until it’s almost stone cold.
Also, the sausage and bean melt is my favourite 😬
IamPickleRick · 01/03/2019 18:58
Why did they stop the Belgian bun cakes with real cream? They were my favourite
katienana · 01/03/2019 18:59
I'm in Newcastle and most branches sell bread. There are already a couple of drive throughs I think.
IamPickleRick · 01/03/2019 18:59
Is it true they are going to have drive-through Greggs?
I was actually thinking this today as I drove along and was going to tweet it! EXCELLENT news!
planesinthesky · 01/03/2019 19:00
What’s the tastiest vegetarian option from Greggs? (I haven’t been in there for years, but I’m feeling hungry now reading this thread).
And are you allowed to help yourself to unsold and near it’s expiry date food at the end of the day? Or does it go elsewhere?
Baconrollandalattee · 01/03/2019 19:02
I didn't know there was a different between the custard slices, I'm rubbish at this AMA I keep saying I don't know.
The vegan sausage roll sales were really high at first, then they were launched in all stores and the sales were still high, since it seems now almost everyone has tried it the sales are going down. That's just my opinion from how many I've personally sold in the last few weeks I don't know the official figures.
