I work in Gregg's ask me anything.

Yes we still have to make the sandwiches in record breaking time. Some of them are such a faff with so many ingredients. They don't take in account running out of ingredients and having to decant and date them.

Several times a day I have people moaning that they're not hot enough. Can you just microwave it for me?

No one's ever called the Belgium bun that before.

What's the secret behind the tuna crunch baguette? Can never recreate the same taste.

squeefy · 01/03/2019 20:46

WHAT is that true, the fresh cream belgian bun is gone??? thats my fave cream cake!!

Baconrollandalattee · 01/03/2019 20:48

It could come back they sometimes do.

I can't tell you the tuna crunch secret I'm sorry.

According to the Greggs' website, the Tuna Crunch Baguette is:

served in a classic white baguette, it’s crunchy on the outside and wonderfully soft in the middle. Filled with dolphin friendly tuna chunks and red pepper salsa in mayonnaise, sliced red onion and fresh salad leaves.

Do you get deliveries from the one pound bakery?
The Gregg's in my town does ( I have seen them delivery) then sells the sausage rolls at a pound each when you can get two for a 1 at the pound bakery! The same bloody sausage roll.

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 01/03/2019 20:54

Thankyou Bacon - you're a ⭐️

Jaxinthebox · 01/03/2019 20:55

Why is your tomato soup so bloody hot? Grin . It is lovely, but takes forever to cool enough to eat/drink.

Ragwort · 01/03/2019 20:55

Our local Greggs is very generous in giving unsold stock to the local Food Bank the next day, and the products taste just as good. Thank you. When our Greggs was closed for refurbishment for a week we approached a local independent bakery to ask if they would donate unsold stock and they replied ‘no, we prefer to give it to the local pig farm’. Hmm

ChakiraChakra · 01/03/2019 20:57

Can you moan at greggs to get them to make the sausage bean bake gluten free please? I used to love them.

SurgeHopper · 01/03/2019 20:58

I can't believe the soup is homemade Shock

Newbuild · 01/03/2019 20:58

Is it a rule to let emergency services skip the queue? I was in Greggs recently and some paramedics arrived in uniform and were told to go straight to the front, I thought this was lovely and wondered if it was policy?

WithAllIntenseAndPurposes · 01/03/2019 21:00

Does your branch sell London Cheesecake? I am yearning for one and haven't seen one in years

sagradafamiliar · 01/03/2019 21:04

Are the vegan wraps really popular or unpopular? I'm lucky if I get one but I don't know if that's because I'm one of only a few who actually likes them so they don't make many of them. So bloody nice though!

Baconrollandalattee · 01/03/2019 21:05

No we don't get deliveries from any one other than the Gregg's bakery. I can't see Gregg's selling other brand sausage rolls that would be really bad regarding allergin information.

The soup is kept hot, it shouldn't be scalding hot though so maybe they're turning the temperature up too high.

OP posts:
Baconrollandalattee · 01/03/2019 21:11

The soup isn't homemade, it's made in the greggs factory and comes in with Gregg's branding. That's what I meant by Gregg's make everything.

I don't think we've ever had any emergency service personnel in when I've been there so I haven't seen that in practice.

No to London cheesecake.

The vegan wraps are the lowest selling sandwich in my shop so we don't make many. If you ever want one and there's none on the shelf just ask if they can make you one. We do this all the time as long as we have the ingredients in.

sagradafamiliar · 01/03/2019 21:23

I thought so! It's good to know I can ask though, thanks 😀

RainyDaysSunnyNights · 01/03/2019 21:28

I worked at Bakers Oven as a Saturday girl when I was at school - never worked so hard in my life!
There was never any unsold stock when I worked there, we'd all use the 50% discount and take it all home. The joys of being a slim 16 year old!

HollowTalk · 01/03/2019 21:32

Are you OK to eat at Greggs if you have a nut allergy?

Baconrollandalattee · 01/03/2019 21:36

I would check the allergen guide at your local Gregg's Hollow because all shops sell different products and will have different ones.

The Greggs mince pies were the best but they always ran out . Can you have a word that they make more this year please especially near Christmas.

PickAChew · 01/03/2019 21:45

How do you ever get a moment to catch your breath? Our neighbourhood Gregg's only has 2 staff who are almost always run off their feet, being in between an FE college and a hospital.

Baconrollandalattee · 01/03/2019 21:48

The mince pies are the best I agree, they fly out.

OP posts:
Baconrollandalattee · 01/03/2019 21:51

We rarely get a moment to catch our breath even if there are no customers for a few minutes there's 101 other things that need doing.
