What do you do with all the unsold stock that's going past its best? I know there's a Greggs outlet shop near me that sells the stuff that's just about to go past its best buy date, do they have lots of these?

billybullshitterz1 · 01/03/2019 19:03

Yes drive through Gregg's exists. ! Live near one Grin

Baconrollandalattee · 01/03/2019 19:03

Sorry domesticslattern I only answered half your question. A sausage roll and a gingerbread man is a better lunch for a child.

I worked in Greggs for 7 years I was at my thinnest due to being on my feet all day. I used to eat pasties for breakfast and lunch as well as cakes and rolls. As soon as I sat down at a desk I became a fat lump 😥

RumpoleoftheBaileys · 01/03/2019 19:06

Do you still do that amazing egg breakfast wrap (pre-made, but then heated up). The stores by me seem to have stopped stocking it Sad

Baconrollandalattee · 01/03/2019 19:13

Mountain, the reason they are cold is because the counter isn't heated so once they've come out of the oven they start cooling down. We are meant to cook little and often so that we don't have loads of cold pasties sat there. If it was heated we would have to charge vat.

The tastiest vegetarian product I think is the cheese and onion bake. I loved the mini ones we used to sell but they've been discontinued. The egg and cheese wrap, Belgian bun with cream and coffee choux buns have also been discontinued due to low sales.

We aren't allowed to take unsold food home. It either gets collected by charities or sent back to the bakery.

Unfortunately running around all day hasn't helped me to not be a fat lump.

Why don't you cut your sausages in your breakfast roll?

SurgeHopper · 01/03/2019 19:26

Best cake /dessert? In your honest opinion?

RumpoleoftheBaileys · 01/03/2019 19:27

Nooooooo

RumpoleoftheBaileys · 01/03/2019 19:27

But probably for the best Blush

Baconrollandalattee · 01/03/2019 19:35

I would imagine the reason we don't cut the sausages in half is we just wouldn't have time.

Rumpole the omlette in the breakfast is the same used for the wraps so if you were to have an omlette roll it would be almost the same.

The best cake is the Belgium bun closely followed by the pink jammie.

Marble11, I used to work for a similar place when I was in my teens and I lost loads of weight. I think the smell of food made me feel as though I'd eaten. I didn't want anything sweet while I was working there - the smell of sugar was really strong and I felt as though I'd eaten it all.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 01/03/2019 20:12

What has my local Greggs closed until further notice ???? Hmm

TopBitchoftheWitches · 01/03/2019 20:12

Ffs...why*

ShadyLady53 · 01/03/2019 20:13

Do the company treat you well? Would you say they’re good employers?

SileneOliveira · 01/03/2019 20:14

Do you really make the sandwiches fresh? (Quite partial to the thai red curry chicken one).

Processedpea · 01/03/2019 20:16

Why do the salad rolls not have butter ?

JRMisOdious · 01/03/2019 20:18

The tomato soup is lovely: is it made by Greggs. If it isn’t, what is it? (it’s definitely not Heinz which is cloyingly sweet)

RumpoleoftheBaileys · 01/03/2019 20:22

It's good, but not the same. I loved the wrap and sweetness of the sauce. Boooooo.

BusySittingDown · 01/03/2019 20:23

I haven't got a question but I just wanted to moan that I was really sad that they didn't do the Festive Flatbread at Christmas. Sad

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 01/03/2019 20:29

Are you still targeted for making all the damned sandwiches in record breaking time? I used to hate it.
How many times a day do people moan that the pastries aren't kept hot?

ryanne · 01/03/2019 20:30

What happened to greggsnuts? Gutted they no long do them.Best cakes ever!

Baconrollandalattee · 01/03/2019 20:32

We have to work really hard, there's so much to do and barely enough time for it all. I think if we could have an extra member of staff at busy times it would make life a lot easier. We get a lot of staff perks like share save, bonuses for mystery shop etc. I do enjoy it so I would say that we are treated well.

Yes the sandwiches are made fresh every morning in store and then whenever we run out we make more.

All products except the soft drinks and crisps are made by Gregg's including the tomato soup.

Has any customer ever referred to the Belgian buns as witches tits? Because my DP calls them that and I'd never heard it until he said he'd had a 'cheeky witches tit at break'. That raised an eyebrow until he explained.

I only ask because I was enquiring after some in Gregg's recently and asked for 'wi-Belgian buns'Blush. I can't guarantee it won't slip out one day and I don't want to upset anyone.
