Apart from who my husband is/what team he plays for Grin

(Have set up a whole new username for this so there's no chance of it coming back to me and the Daily Mail can sod off thank you!)

Please could you ask him and all his friends to stop shouting and swearing at the referee

Oh believe me he gets a proper telling off from me if he does that. If he listens carefully he'd probably be able to hear me from the stands shouting "CALLLMMM DOWWWWWN" like a maniac myself Grin.

Also don't love the spitting and clearing of the nostrils on the pitch Envy but DH doesn't tend to do that

Thank you for your answer. You sound fantastically wise and grounded and your DH sounds lovely too. It's nice to know that he remembers being in our shoes and is willing to spare time for fans. We really do appreciate it and talk about such meetings for the rest of our lives!

I have to ask this too: Is your husband aware of or reading this thread? What does he say about our questions if he is?
waves at iam's husband

Thank you.

unicorn56 · 11/07/2018 20:39

Joe Harts wife? I know you said not to ask but I can't help it!!!

iamawagama · 11/07/2018 20:39

What are the perks of being a WAG? Do you get great service, freebies etc.

Great service yes and restaurants always tend to be able to find a table for you even if they were previously full 🙄. I do take advantage of that ashamedly.

We get some good discounts on cars, posh clothes shops, salons etc.

I like you even more now! Start working on those friends of his 😁

Yes he's rolling his eyes at me and saying "they better not guess who I am" GrinBlush eek!

unicorn56 · 11/07/2018 20:42

Damn it, just saw you said he does penalty shoot outs, can't be Joe then!

iamawagama · 11/07/2018 20:42

C'mon England ffs. Can't deal with another penalty shootout

OP posts:
Floradoranora · 11/07/2018 20:47

Does your dh take part in penalty shoot outs?

Don’t they all!

I really did think it was decided who’s turn it was on the day.

Floradoranora · 11/07/2018 20:48

OP, do you understand the offside rule?

Whatever it is.

martinidry · 11/07/2018 20:51

It's ok, iam's lovely husband, I have no idea! Grin

Souledout · 11/07/2018 20:51

Im loving this. Im nosey intrigued. You do genuinely sound lovely.

Haffdonga · 11/07/2018 20:51

It's a young man's job. Do you and your dh plan what you'll do with your lives or your second careers after he retires from football? (Do you worry he'll be a lost soul without the 'job' he has presumably been passionate about since the age of 7)

iamawagama · 11/07/2018 20:52

OP, do you understand the offside rule?

Here is a RIDICULOUSLY sexist version:

_"You're in a shoe shop, second in the queue for the till. Behind the shop assistant on the till is a pair of shoes which you have seen and which you must have.

The female shopper in front of you has seen them also and is eyeing them with desire. Both of you have forgotten your purses.

It would be rude to push in front of the first woman if you had no money to pay for the shoes.

The shop assistant remains at the till waiting.

Your friend is trying on another pair of shoes at the back of the shop and sees your dilemma.

She prepares to throw her purse to you.

If she does so, you can catch the purse, then walk round the other shopper and buy the shoes!

At a pinch she could throw the purse ahead of the other shopper and "whilst it is in flight" you could nip around the other shopper, catch the purse and buy the shoes!

BUT, you must always remember that until the purse has "actually been thrown", it would be plain wrong for you to be in front of the other shopper and you would be OFFSIDE!"_
^

I'm annoyed to say it helped me understand^

What’s the absolutely worst bit? I know you count your blessings but if you could take one bit out what would it be?

MikeUniformMike · 11/07/2018 20:54

You should definitely write a book.
WAG's guide to the Offside Rule by iamawagama
Bestseller!

SittingAround1 · 11/07/2018 20:54

Thank you for answering my questions earlier. I have another....

It's quite an achievement to be a player in the premier league. Is your husband satisfied with his career or is he constantly looking at the next big thing he should achieve, for example winning the league ?

I ask because I've heard top sports people can be quite perfectionist and never happy unless they're constantly at the very top.

is he a bit OCD ( like David Beckham) ? Is this common among top althetes?

iamawagama · 11/07/2018 20:55

Do you worry he'll be a lost soul without the 'job' he has presumably been passionate about since the age of 7

Yes, absolutely !

I think he will always do something connected to football or sports. Whether it's coaching or punditry - though I feel he's a little shy for chatting on the tv

MikeUniformMike · 11/07/2018 20:56

You could call it WhiskeyAlphaGamma because of my encouragement.

iamawagama · 11/07/2018 20:57

What’s the absolutely worst bit? I know you count your blessings but if you could take one bit out what would it be?

The fact that twice a year, regardless of how well DH has played he could be sold/loaned out to another club the other side of the country.
Especially with children. That's difficult!

MadMags · 11/07/2018 20:58

Great thread!

Was he dropped from the international squad this year? Is he pissed off? Is it because he's older? Yer man seems to want a team full of young uns!

iamawagama · 11/07/2018 20:59

Is your husband satisfied with his career or is he constantly looking at the next big thing he should achieve, for example winning the league ?

His dream was to play in PL, he's achieved that so I guess the next would be to win the league but he's realistic Wink

is he a bit OCD ( like David Beckham) ? Is this common among top althetes?

No he's pretty laid back actually! Even if he has a terrible game he doesn't bring that bad energy home Smile

Why don't you have a cleaner?! What do your kids want to do when they're older?
