Would you like to kindly donate some money for my house deposit? 😂

Floradoranora · 11/07/2018 21:03

I'm annoyed to say it helped me understand

It was great Grin

And I can now tell my friend, she posts here and is a real football fan, that at last I understand the offside rule because of shoes. And she’ll love it because if there’s one thing she loves more than football it’s shoes.

callmeadoctor · 11/07/2018 21:04

great thread thank you OP xx

iamawagama · 11/07/2018 21:04

Why don't you have a cleaner?! What do your kids want to do when they're older?

No cleaner as the house we are in at the mo is pretty manageable. I wouldn't mind someone to do my ironing though!

One of the boys wants to be a footballer, the eldest has no idea. Grin

God, I've a cleaner for my modest semi-detached lol!

Are you happy for him to be a footballer? Does he have what it takes, do you think?

iamawagama · 11/07/2018 21:06

Flora your friend sounds fab! Grin

He has a natural talent but so do so many youngsters! And so many parents push their kids into it. We just make sure he enjoys it and will support it all the time he's having fun. But the football world is so cut throat it's important not to get his hopes up

You and your dh sound so grounded and what a great approach for your dh to be taking. I can imagine lots of pros can be quite pushy!

Thanks for a great thread!

Summersun111 · 11/07/2018 21:10

Do you get many requests asking for money aka off people that may need money for life saving treatment? If so, how do you feel with that? Do you respond and does it make you feel some what guilty?

Bramble71 · 11/07/2018 21:11

Hi, OP. Fellow handbag fiend here!

If your & your hubby could go to any footie club in the world, which would the two of you choose? Would you pick the same club, or different ones?

SittingAround1 · 11/07/2018 21:13

Did your DH's parents push him or was he self motivated?
Do pushy parents actually make any difference to a footballer's career?

I imagine you have to be pretty mentally resistant to play in the PL as well as talented.

JaniceBattersby · 11/07/2018 21:14

Would you leave him if he cheated, OP?

My friend is a WAG. Her husband has cheated on her three times (that she knows of). It’s been in the papers one of the times.

She stays because she says she can’t bear the thought of going back to ‘normal’ life, and most of the time he’s nice to her and buys her lovely things and he always comes home at night. It’s not so much the money, she says, it’s the status of being ‘someone’. She knows he could snap his fingers and have another wife and she says she couldn’t bear to be replaced. I can see where she’s coming from. Her life and her kids’ life is on a different planet to anything she could achieve.

Grandmaswagsbag · 11/07/2018 21:15

I have a really boring question. Does someone at the club have to wash their kits after each match or do they chuck them and use new ones every time? Those grass stains look stubborn!

I'd choose Barcelona for the sea, sun and food!

He'd prob choose Barcelona for the team Grin

OP, you sound lovely!

Do you think that a lot of the other WAGS are very insecure? If there are women flinging themselves at these players all the time, is there a constant fear of being traded in for a younger model? That might explain the prevalence of fillers, lipo etc.

No we don't really get many! Have had a couple of quite obvious scam messages through social media. There's one that masquerades as a children's charity but it's well known that it's a scam. Disgusting!

  • Did your DH's parents push him or was he self motivated? Do pushy parents actually make any difference to a footballer's career?*

He was pretty self motivated and picked up by a scout from a young age. I don't think pushy parents would have any positive affect. The only thing I can think they will do is eventually turn their child off football!

Gosh, I hope so. But you never know until you're in that situation. I'm not naive enough to think it'll never happen to me but I can't think about it too much I will send myself mad.
I also have a wag friend who is in a similar situation to your friend. She says she's happy and i think she's become numb to it, it's sad.

Loving this thread, fascinating insight and you sound so nice!

How much longer do you expect your DHs playing career to last? Do you think he’ll retire from a premier league club or would he just want to carry on playing so play for lower league clubs?

torthecatlady · 11/07/2018 21:25

Love this thread and feeling jealous as hell!

All my questions have pretty much been asked and answered!

What was your wedding dress like?

Yes, some of the most gorgeous women I've met are the most insecure.
If DH tried to trade me in I've made it very clear I will kneecap him Grin

He'll play until his knees can't take anymore! Maybe after this club he will take a 'money move' overseas

Tasteful amount of sparkles, V neckline, long sleeves, longish train... dreamy.

Money move abroad sounds good. I hope it’s somewhere sunny OP!

iamawagama · 11/07/2018 21:31

Yep someone washes them, checks them for any rips and they wear them again. If a player gives a shirt away after a match they have it deducted from their wages Hmm DH is always bloody giving his away lol
