Are you friendly with any other celebs not related to football - pop stars, actors etc?

I've met a few actors and have a couple of pop stars as friends but my closest friends are my hometown girls Smile

Have you got a swimming pool?

Yes! I was forever in it at first but the no left has worn off now

What regular beauty treatments do you get?

Mani, pedi, laser hair removal. Regular hair colour (to hide my greys booo hooo) and trim. If I'm going out I get a nice bouncy blow dry. Considering Botox but I'm scared I'll get a shiny forehead haha

What's the best holiday you've ever had?

Bora Bora.... out of this world!

No left = novelty.

Thanks OP. You are entertaining. I have searched and searched for no 76 wearing a pink top and I think you fed us a red herring. Shock

iamawagama · 11/07/2018 20:12

who are the nicest celebs you've met? Have you particularly disliked any?

Ooh I met a popular actor a couple of years ago and it was one of the few times I've actually been star struck until I asked for a photo and he said no because he had taken a load of mdma so his face was funny Confused

Damn I was hoping for Becky Vardy. She looks like a mner

iamawagama · 11/07/2018 20:16

Where are you watching the match tonight? At home? With friends/family? At a function at DP’s club? Do you wear an England shirt? Do you have lucky pants?

"Watching" mumsnetting at home tonight while the rest of the house is engrossed. Quiet night in. I have an England shirt but not wearing it now. Lucky pants?? That's reminded me I have a lucky undie set that I used to wear to home games, haven't worn it for ages perhaps this is why DH hasn't won the league?!

Also - who is the best looking footballer in the premier league? (apart from your DP, obviously).

Trippier is looking better and better as the night goes on lol. Tbh there aren't many PL players I find that handsome at the mo. Bring back Victor Valdes!!

Op do be careful about how much personal info you give here Smile

Here is my random question that wouldn’t require personal info - do the players have help from the clubs in responding to fan mail?

Floradoranora · 11/07/2018 20:18

Ooh loads to catch up on and I'm intrigued as to what the deleted posts said

I asked for them to be removed because someone speculated on who you might be according to her husband. It was then repeated in the post underneath.

iamawagama · 11/07/2018 20:19

Putting aside how much you like your lifestyle, do you think footballers are paid too much to basically entertain folk?

Yes, I think so. Some of the wages are just obscene. But I guess the money generated from matches has to go somewhere and if it's not to the players it'll just be lining the pockets of the owners... clubs should do more community outreach work though imo

JesusDontWantMeForASunbeam · 11/07/2018 20:19

Trippier is lush!!!

Cheesymonster · 11/07/2018 20:22

I would totally buy your tell-all book. Just saying.

You're right, I'm trying to be vague but still give honest answers. It's harder than I thought ha!

Perhaps the biggest players in the biggest clubs may have help with fan mail. DH only has my help and I'm extra nosey and love reading them

This tell all book is getting more and more tempting Grin

Hi iamawagama.

This is a fascinating thread, thank you.

I'd like to ask how 'connected' your husband feels to his club's fans.
The (Premier League) team I support had until recently a much loved player who we think of as "one of our own". He's the man who has as much passion for the club as we do, a man who's still a working class down to earth person. He comes across as someone who 'gets' how we feel about our team.

Does your DH identify with us fans or does he think that fans in general are too over-invested in the club and its players?

TheCatFromOuterSpace · 11/07/2018 20:28

Does your dh take part in penalty shoot outs? If so, can you watch? I don't think I could Grin

ablessingtome · 11/07/2018 20:30

The book?
What would be the title?

iamawagama · 11/07/2018 20:31

Yes I think he does identify with fans. He often says he was a fan long before he was a player and he remembers what it was like to wait outside his hometown club in the rain when he was a wee boy only for his favourite player to walk past him and ignore him. For this reason he always takes time to stop, chat with fans, take photos etc. The only time it gets frustrating is when we are out with the kids and sometimes the fans can be a bit obnoxious, pushing the kids out the way so they can get close to him - that's a bit much. Thankfully hasn't happened too often. 99% of the time the fans are great

The Secret World of WAGs??

Ah shite, I'm not too good at this. I quit already

You sound lovely OP. V down to earth, head screwed on and your husband sounds kind. Just one plea rather than a question. Please could you ask him and all his friends to stop shouting and swearing at the referee - I’m afraid until that happens I will not change my view that they are poor role models. One of the reasons I’d much rather my children play rugby than football.

halfwitpicker · 11/07/2018 20:34

What are the perks of being a WAG? Do you get great service, freebies etc.

TheCatFromOuterSpace · 11/07/2018 20:35

Thanks for replying - I can't bear to watch and I don't even know the players!
