what's the best quality your DH has? Aside from being a footballer lol?

He's kind. So so kind. Will stop to help anyone with anything. He's also very generous but this can be taken advantage of unfortunately.
Oh and his thighs. Goodness yes, the thighs 😍

Do you try to give your kids as normal and grounded a life as possible?

Yes we try to keep I as normal as possible as neither of us grew up with money

Hand me downs,

Absolutely

supermarket clothes,

Yup especially for the youngest. The elder two don't like designs on tshirts etc so they'll have stuff from river island, Zara, etc. For bdays the kids will get Hollister or something like that. I can't warrant spending £££ on designer for kids like Gucci etc, no matter how much DH earns!

fish fingers for dinner and sharing?

We've been known to have a fish finger butty occasionally (has to be with salad cream though!) but DH isn't a fan. Grin most meals are cooked from scratch though unless I'm feeling lazy/have had a boozy lunch lol

Or is it all new, best of everything?

No no no. Hand me down phones etc. No TVs in bedrooms (much to the despair of fortnite playing boys) and they work for their pocket money - max £10 a week if they e done all their jobs (very rare!)

You sound like a great mum 😊

iamawagama · 12/07/2018 11:44

Do you find yourself struggling to relate to people at times?

Not really as my friends all know where I came from. They knew me when I was a poor student and I know what it's like to have money troubles from growing up with little so I can still relate. And we will help our friends out sometimes if it's needed

Or ever feel that you have to keep quiet about certain problems in front of certain people to not appear insensitive?

Yes. For example. I'm going to an event this weekend and I'm wearing gold shoes and a red dress but I don't have a handbag that's matches it well enough. I have a red bag with silver hardware and it's a problem I have to keep to myself as I know how fucking obscene it sounds 🤣🤣😭😭🤣

Seriously though, we all have our issues at some point. Relationship, money issues (when the incoming is huge the outgoings tend to be huge too), family troubles... we've all been through it so it's always open conversation with my friends.

Have you ever had any friends betray you to the press or media?

No thank goodness - they have loads of ammunition on me so I'm going to keep these friends close forever! 🤣

Thanks Johnny I'm trying!

It's crazy when we are out as a group to see single girls come over and do their very best to get the players attention. Sometimes it's so cringeworthy, 'sexy' dancing with their friends, purposely bumping into you, etc. We don't go out much nowadays thank goodness

You've admitted that girls are throwing themselves at the players, constantly.
What happens when groups of girls approach the players when the partners aren't around? Hmm
Doesnt it worry you that girls could be approaching the players at their hotels? (you would be non the wiser. )

Do a lot of the player's wives and girlfriends turn a blind eye to that side of things? (because they like the lifestyle) and money

BipolarSunset · 12/07/2018 12:14

Loved reading this OP! Very interesting and honest of you. X

hairnightmare17 · 12/07/2018 12:14

Has he bought his mum a house?

iamawagama · 12/07/2018 12:21

No idea

Absolutely!! But you have to at least ATTEMPT to trust..... (and also insist on FaceTime every half hour)

Do a lot of the player's wives and girlfriends turn a blind eye to that side of things? (because they like the lifestyle) and money

Probably Sad. I know of a couple... it's never straight forward. I also know a 'normal job' man who cheats on his lovely wife and the wife knows.... it's not solely footballers of course.

What is a scandalous story you know involving a famous footballer? (not mentioning any names, of course)

mishfish · 12/07/2018 12:39

Thank you OP

one more, just one I promise!!!!

You volunteer with the homeless and that is lovely. If there was anything you could really throw yourself into to make a difference to others lives, what would it be? Say the powers that be said “right, whatever IAMAWAG says we need to do to change this, we will do, she is in charge” what would you change? And how?

iamawagama · 12/07/2018 12:40

What is a scandalous story you know involving a famous footballer?

Hmmmm....

A married footballer was holed up in a posh European hotel with a glam sexy lady (not his wife). Sexy lady's husband found out. Sexy lady's husband happens to be big European gangster. Arrives at hotel with his goons and creates all kind of merry hell. Footballer refuses to leave room and has to ship in his own security to diffuse the situation.

OP posts:
iamawagama · 12/07/2018 12:43

Oh! And apparently footballer paid 6 figures to gangster for the situation to be forgotten about 🤣

expatinspain · 12/07/2018 12:46

I wish you could name names GrinGrin

expatinspain · 12/07/2018 12:47

One more, do footballers ever hit on other WAGS, who they aren't married to??

Mortallie · 12/07/2018 12:48

Does your DH have any single footballer friends Wink

But a serious question, what measures do you have to take to protect your children from the publicity, and how do they feel about their Dad being famous?

halfwitpicker · 12/07/2018 12:54

I think this has been asked already but: how did you meet? Love at first sight?

iamawagama · 12/07/2018 13:05

Not in my experience but I do know of a certain (gorgeous) lady who has caused a few arguments between players on the same national team. She's now married to the third one she chose. She held a lot of power over that team and it's safe to say they didn't play very well that year 🤣.

If he had any SERIOUS single footballer friends I'd be so busy setting them up with my girlfriends! But alas, no.

But a serious question, what measures do you have to take to protect your children from the publicity, and how do they feel about their Dad being famous?

Because he's not recognisable to the average non-football fan person on the street we don't take any measures over the standard sensible ones. No photos on SM apart from my super locked down FBook, no mention of which schools they attend, etc.

We were set up on a date by a mutual friend who was, in his words, "tired of seeing me working and single" lol. I wouldn't say it was love at first sight for me, he grew on me as he was so shy to begin with. It was for him though apparently - he reported back to mutual friend after our date that night that he was going to marry me! Grin

halfwitpicker · 12/07/2018 13:13

Crikey, Iam, he obviously spotted a good one and knew it Grin

Did you date for a while before marrying?

(Thanks for keeping this thread going, BTW, very entertaining en route to my dull office job!)

Devilishpyjamas · 12/07/2018 13:18

A footballer’s wife I met a few years ago was one of the loveliest (& down to earth) people I have met in recent(ish) years. They had a very normal family car, lovely kids, was as bad at surfing as me & was always really sweet with severely disabled ds1. They used to holiday near where I live and we used to bump into each other a lot.

I think you’re probably a bit young to be her OP - as it was a while ago - although you sound lovely too. Must admit before meeting her I had all sorts of assumptions about footballers and WAGS Confused

iamawagama · 12/07/2018 13:26

GrinGrin

Did you date for a while before marrying?

We were engaged within 6 months but married after 3 years
