It's only minus 3 I'm not wearing a jacket! (She says snuggled into her oodie dressing gown with her thermal socks)

I find the oodie too much personally so brought myself a oodie dressing gown it's snuggly but easier not to get too hot in for me.

Ooh, I've recently bought Oodie dressing gowns for all of us! It was the cuffed sleeve that did it for me - last year, I did not appreciate the cold draft coming up my sleeve in our arctic temperatures...the cuff eliminates that! I'm not a massive fan of the patterns, but I can overlook that in the search for draft free cosiness.

Our verdict

Mumsnet users, their teens and tweens absolutely love an Oodie. They're buttery soft, pleasingly oversized and so gosh darn warm you can even turn your central heating down. However, not everyone wants to wear an enormous hoodie, even just around the house, so we put the Oodie Dressing Gown through its paces, to see if it's a viable and, dare we say it, more grown-up alternative to the iconic blanket hoodie.

Having been a dedicated dressing gown fan for my whole life, I really liked the length and warmth of the Oodie robe. It has lots of thoughtful touches, like stretchy cuffs to keep draughts out, and a button to keep the belt centred. There's a generous hood and the same soft, sherpa lining you'll find in an Original Oodie.

Worn over my WFH clothes or my pyjamas, the dressing gown is very warm - comparable to a winter coat - and warmer than the cotton towelling men's dressing gown I usually wear at home.

One thing I didn't love about the Oodie dressing gown is the polyester fabric. While it's extremely soft and warm, it's not as absorbent or as pleasant against my skin as natural fabrics like the M&S Pure Cotton Towelling Dressing Gown I have.

When compared to the Original Oodie, the fabric on the dressing gown is less structured and thinner - which to me is a good thing, as I find blanket hoodies to be too warm and restrictive.

How we tested

Mumsnet editor Poppy O'Neill tested the Oodie Dressing Gown over the course of 3 cold winter months at her home in Sussex. Taking detailed notes on quality, warmth and style, she cross-compared it with both other dressing gowns and a Kids' Original Oodie. Her 14-year-old also tested out the dressing gown, giving her honest opinion on the Oodie from a teen's point of view.

How does the Oodie Dressing Gown fit?

I'm 5'8" and a UK size 10-12, wearing a size S/M. As you can see in the photos, the dressing gown is nice and long, without being overly so - it fits just like a regular dressing gown. If you're looking for a more oversized fit, in the style of an Original Oodie, there's an 'Oodie fit' version available which offers a roomier fit all round.

My hands get quite cold so I like to wear fingerless gloves at my laptop, and they fit pretty snugly under the cuffs of the Oodie dressing gown. As it's a traditional wrap design, it'll fit easily over your outfit, no matter how many layers to pile on. What's more, I can quickly pop it off for a virtual meeting.

How warm is the Oodie Dressing Gown?

When compared to my cotton towelling robe from M&S, the Oodie dressing gown is noticeably warmer. This isn't surprising, as the Oodie robe is built for warmth, thanks to its sherpa fleece lining, fluffy outer and thick, elasticated cuffs. It also has a hood, which adds extra fabric around your neck, even when it's down.

Does the Oodie Dressing Gown offer good value for money?

The Oodie dressing gown is just a shade more expensive than the Oodie Original, which has an RRP of £65.

Let's compare the Oodie dressing gown to Mumsnet's undisputed queen of the dressing gowns, M&S's Rosie Fleece Hooded Dressing Gown. At £45, the M&S is a whopping £30 cheaper than the Oodie, and Mumsnet users say it's "thick and very warm."

While the M&S comes in muted colours, it can't beat Oodie's range of bright prints, plain and pastel shades. Both styles are made from 100% polyester fleece.

However, the Oodie dressing gown's draught-busting cuffs and uniquely cosy fabric mean it just pips the M&S in the warmth stakes. I think the Oodie dressing gown is the winter WFH hero.
