Redshoeblueshoe · 22/02/2020 00:37

Thanks x posted there

GeordieTerf · 22/02/2020 00:40

The Times is pretty spot on with their scoops usually. This is great news is true! Smile

OvaHere · 22/02/2020 00:44

Wow. I'm assuming they have sources on this otherwise they probably wouldn't have run it.

Apollo440 · 22/02/2020 00:48

If true, then good. Now to stop the Scottish GRA, get Stonewall out of schools and roll back the guidance being misrepresented as law. Lots still to do!

Thank you for sharing.

The share token didn't work for me unfortunately. Does anyone have another.

Thingybob · 22/02/2020 00:57

Amazing if true, well done women

Redshoeblueshoe · 22/02/2020 01:01

Ova I can't see past the first few paragraphs

OccasionalKite · 22/02/2020 01:01

Doesn't matter what the bloody Times says.

Are the Conservatives, or Tories, going to recognise the word "Woman" as being "Adult human female"? And are the Conservatives going to take child safeguarding seriously?

I would like more evidence.

StuckBetweenDarknessAndLight · 22/02/2020 01:02

Oh god really? I hope this is true! The tide is turning! Well done to everyone here who has pushed back, this is amazing news.

Languishingfemale · 22/02/2020 01:06

The Times are on fire this weekend. Janice Turner's great article, one about the labour party having a hissy fit because they've been found out for kicking women out of the party and now this. Share token:

HandsOffMyRights · 22/02/2020 01:06

The GRA reform was meant to be swept under the carpet.

I'm sure advocates thought it was a fait accompli.

It it hadn't been for those pesky women. Just a few mind, those phobes on bloody Mumsnet.

Thingybob · 22/02/2020 01:07

I wonder how much we need to thank Nandy et al. for the airing they have given this?

AtrociousCircumstance · 22/02/2020 01:11

Languishingfemale · 22/02/2020 01:15

There's bloody sunlight everywhere at the moment. It's such a relief. And yes - we must thank those complacent fools in the labour party for so unselfishly sharing with us all their delusional thoughts on beliefs and the rights of child rapists. So enlightening.

OvaHere · 22/02/2020 01:23

Thanks for the share Languishingfemale

If this turns out to be correct the next battle is to tackle the policy capture across organisations that don't uphold the EA re single sex. Yes I think it's unlikely the Tories will go all out to do that and it's probably means continued challenges and litigation.

BitOfFun · 22/02/2020 01:55

Good news, keep shining that sunlight!

Fallingirl · 22/02/2020 01:55

Sounds like they are planning to remove the spousal right to consent, though, and it is unclear what they are actually planning re women only spaces.

This, from Penny Mordaunt:

There are some outdated barriers facing people wanting to change their gender, such as having to get your spouse’s consent, and government should have a ‘tell us once’ service so we end the nonsense of people having different documents in different genders. The law on women-only spaces also needs clarity. Some of this will take time — you can’t grow healthcare and support capacity overnight, but I think all sides of the debate will be reassured when the consultation results are published.”

I don’t think it is time to celebrate just yet.
