Bloody hell if that's true, that's fantastic!

OP posts:
ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 22/02/2020 08:28

I really really want this to be true - but please please fill out the Scottish consultation!

NonnyMouse1337 · 22/02/2020 08:37

There were 858 non-crime incidents uploaded to Scottish police systems last year, the equivalent of more than two a day. In England and Wales almost 120,000 cases were logged by 34 police forces over the same period.

Last year James Mooney, a film and philosophy lecturer at Edinburgh University, was reported to police after quoting an “anti-English” speech from Trainspotting.

Omg I know this guy!! Well, I don't really know him but I've gone to his Filmosophy events. ShockShockShock

Howzaboutye · 22/02/2020 08:41

Schools. That is my focus on protecting. Get any gender ideology out of primary schools.

NonnyMouse1337 · 22/02/2020 08:44

The Times article about GRA reforms being scrapped seems too good to be true. Until the consultation results are published and the government gives a statement, it all seems like speculation.

The Scottish government is determined to barrel through. Everyone please fill out the consultation before the deadline on March 17th. The more detailed the submission, the better, although there are fairly quick and easy guidelines available.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 22/02/2020 08:45

So wait, does that mean Irvine Welsh needs to have a hate incident recorded against him too? I mean, he wrote it. What about Ewan McGregor for saying it aloud? Maybe they could record hate incidents against every single person who worked in the film for not preventing it!

Or, you know, they could just stop this shit now. That would be another option.

SusieSusieSoo · 22/02/2020 08:45

Just reading the articles in The Times today. I blooming luffs Janice Turner - her 2 page article is absolutely spot on and oh I so so hope these reports are accurate.

DP sometimes wonders why I get so "het up" by all of this but I think he mostly gets it. This article will really help (this plus when I remind him about the girl guides sleeping arrangements rules).

I have a ds7 but I also have a dniece7. She needs protecting (as do all the other girls & women) and the vulnerable children who will be sterile & will never have the chance to enjoy sex or any of the great stuff that comes with those feelings.

I feel so sad and scared for all these children but slightly more optimistic for the future. Thanks again Janice Turner xx

What Apollo said.

It's no good them abandoning GRC changes if the police, public sector, charitable sector and many private institutions aren't actually following the law to begin with, but some ludicrously inappropriate 'guidlines' that effectively enforce GRC changes in a de facto sense anyway.

Time for the left hand to figure out what the right hand is doing; the tail to stop wagging the dog etc etc. Angry

Lordfrontpaw · 22/02/2020 08:55

I shall enjoy reading the paper over a late breakfast today.

BovaryX · 22/02/2020 08:56

That is a great point. It's also a very serious problem because politicians can be voted out. But how do you challenge or remove the army of state employees who are advancing this radical agenda irrespective of the law? This is regulatory and institutional capture. It is totally undemocratic.

Lordfrontpaw · 22/02/2020 09:10

I am seeing so many public institutions and organisations with rainbow logos and LGBetc groups/unions etc and it makes me feel uneasy and even a bit unsafe.

I don’t want police rocking up in a rainbow panda car with rain or ribbons on their shoulders. I’d wonder if I would be allowed to describe the mugger as a man or would I spend 20 mins pussy footing around as they ran away?

I don’t want to see lectures given to them by Tatchell and lobby groups focussing solely on the T - do they have lecturers on the rising numbers of women being murdered? On the child abuse and pedophile rings that they ignored and how this must never be allowed to happen again?

Cwenthryth · 22/02/2020 09:25

Mimmymum popped up on my Twitter feed (👋🏻! I know you lurk here!) saying the article is making it up, basically. One of her followers was complaining about it being behind a paywall so I posted a share token for them to read the article for themselves.

ThePurported · 22/02/2020 09:27

There's very little to get excited about here. A single quote from an anonymous source, the rest of it is rehashed from an Independent article last month.
Victoria Atkins has never been the minister for women and equalities - no mention of Liz Truss?
Oddly, the Times political editors always seem to struggle with this topic.

Lordfrontpaw · 22/02/2020 09:27

Well they’d know all about fantasy and make believe.

Barracker · 22/02/2020 09:58

Brace for Impact, everyone.

You know how this goes. A gain is made. An enormous backlash follows within days. A possibly dreadful concession is offered to TRAs, by the government, one which they probably have pre-prepared in their pocket right now. The opposition respond with bigger, more stupid promises.

And the TRA machine diverts onto the next tactic., which will be funded and planned better.

Get out on social media, make some positive noise about this if you can. Give fence sitters the confidence to say they agree this is a good move. This is the most dangerous time to down tools and be complacent. There will be a major TRA regrouping exercise taking place right now that began before this announcement, knowing it was coming.

Eyes open, brace for impact. We'll see what's about to happen now.

NearlyGranny · 22/02/2020 10:03

This news, as the old joke says, is like a stream of bat piss: a shaft of gold when all around is darkness!

Mockersisrightasusual · 22/02/2020 10:13

Would that be....

"It's Shite Being Scottish!"

...or was that John Hodge who wrote the screenplay.

Hodge also stole this line from Gregory's Girl (1980)

Times are changing. People are changing. Soon there'll be no men and no women, just wankers.

Beamur · 22/02/2020 10:22

If reform of the GRA is shelved, does that effectively mean self ID is dead in the water?

Lordfrontpaw · 22/02/2020 10:23

There will be a hole lot of Pushback from the lobby groups. I Await to see their next move.

ThinEndoftheWedge · 22/02/2020 10:24

This.

The law is still on our side - sex exemptions exist. We need to hold the Tories to account to uphold them.

They are going to be in power for the foreseeable future.

All of us need to push this with Tory MPs

Violetparis · 22/02/2020 10:24

I wonder if Labour will oppose this and open themselves up to more scutiny and ridicule. If this is true there is going to be huge pressure on Labour from the trans lobby.

Lordfrontpaw · 22/02/2020 10:25

Law on our side but the police on theirs? Didn’t one person brag of her connections with their local police and was funnily never questioned about taking child/teen abroad for a ‘sex change op’ that is illegal here (and now there) at that age.

WrathofFaeKlopp · 22/02/2020 10:25

Brace for impact
But even if it goes quiet for a while, it won't mean they've gone away.

Watch how different TRA's will be coming to the front in the media.

The popular, 'attractive' ones will be telling us how HRT makes them so more attractive.

The benign panellist on a gameshow playing the gentle feminine game.

The Labour leadership hustings showing us how woke and progressive they are.

Any change of tactic is deliberate.

As Barracker said Eyes open
Stay awake people.

Lordfrontpaw · 22/02/2020 10:26

Also watch out for advert wording and themes.

Languishingfemale · 22/02/2020 10:26

An insightful warning Barracker.

teawamutu · 22/02/2020 10:50

The 'backlash/concession' theory sounds right - what I'm hoping is that the last few weeks have taken away a lot of the political capital from pandering to TRAs.

The general public response seems to be very much on the side of reason, so arguably government gets more support from standing firm and letting Labour look mad?
