New to mumsnet, terrified.

Anyone going?

PleaseDontGoadTheToad Fri 30-Mar-18 18:07:13

When is it?

Terfragette69 Fri 30-Mar-18 18:08:17

What's to be terrified of??

Ingsoc Fri 30-Mar-18 18:10:22

Its 24th of May. I am terrified of being attacked, a little bit, but mostly losing my job.

PlonitbatPlonit Fri 30-Mar-18 18:10:26

Meeting is on 24 May. Tickets available via eventbrite All the Woman's Place UK meetings have gone ahead without any significant disruption, and really good discussion held. Please do come along!

PotteringAlong Fri 30-Mar-18 18:11:51

Why on earth would you be attacked and then loose your job?

Ingsoc Fri 30-Mar-18 18:14:07

pottering Women have been physically attacked for attending these meetings. And people have lost jobs, particularly academics or public sector employees.

Angryresister Fri 30-Mar-18 18:15:45

Because women who have attended these meetings have been targeted by TA s . In some jobs now if you say you are gender critical you could face dismissal ....

Terfragette69 Fri 30-Mar-18 18:20:35

I certainly wouldn't be afraid of getting attacked, any aggression just get the police. They are trying to intimidate us, we need to not let them. If jobs are lost, then you need to fight that. You cannot legally lose your job for going to a meeting.

Terfragette69 Fri 30-Mar-18 18:22:31

We are being bullied, personally I think we should be standing up against bullies...... Tra's on here please take note.......... You do not frighten us.

Ingsoc Fri 30-Mar-18 18:25:59

terfragette69 that isn't true in the public sector unfortunately. NHS guidelines are from Mermaids. Are you aware of what happened to Posie Parker? That was twitter. This is my work. I don't think you understand how far it has gone in the NHS

RatRolyPoly Fri 30-Mar-18 18:28:18

What happened to Posie Parker (apart from the arrest etc.)? Who's lost their job? (Genuinely asking!)

PotteringAlong Fri 30-Mar-18 18:35:31

I cannot find any link to people in the NHS loosing their job because they went to a meeting in their own free time.

HakunaDentata Fri 30-Mar-18 18:37:30

Ingsoc how far has it gone in the NHS, are you talking about censorship?

Ingsoc Fri 30-Mar-18 18:39:53

OK I'm off. I was trying to find local people to link up with but I am being grilled. Bye.

Terfragette69 Fri 30-Mar-18 18:44:07

No one that I have heard of has actually lost their job as a result of going to a meeting in their own time. People may have lost their jobs for being transphobic or for insulting a trans person. Posie has been arrested yes but no charges have yet been filed. In light of this we need to keep fighting, they cannot arrest us all and I'm sure it cannot be legal to sack people for being gender critical. We need to keep a level head and fight if and when such events happen. The general public will be very against our rights being eroded.... If this sort of thing does happen.

Terfragette69 Fri 30-Mar-18 18:46:19

You are scaremongering and we are very suspicious of new people. Tra's are trolling Mumsnet, you understand I'm sure.

vicviking Fri 30-Mar-18 18:48:17

I too wonder if the OP is scaremongering to put people off attending.

vicviking Fri 30-Mar-18 18:49:17

No-one has or will lose their jobs for attending an open meeting like this.

Terfragette69 Fri 30-Mar-18 18:51:50

That's what I was thinking. I'd go but it's too far for me. Will be going to the next one in North West.

PleaseDontGoadTheToad Fri 30-Mar-18 18:53:34

Well if the OP is scaremongering then it hasn't work as I'm probably still going to go.

Ingsoc Fri 30-Mar-18 19:06:29

No the OP isn't scaremongering. The OP is new to mumsnet. Dont't worry I am still going to the meeting, I just genuinely wanted to connect with others who were going. Never mind. This will be my last post on this thread. I wish you all well.

DaisyDrip Fri 30-Mar-18 19:09:34

OO - I'm in the NE. I wonder if I could get to Newcastle that night.

AsAProfessionalFekko Fri 30-Mar-18 19:10:27

The won't dare attack geordie lasses.

Terfragette69 Fri 30-Mar-18 19:11:42

Because you're new you probably don't yet understand just how underhand some tra's are being, Mumsnet is being targeted by these imbeciles so we are right to be wary. Go to the meeting if you want but if you are genuinely scared for your job then you need to be sure. As I and others have said, we don't yet know of anyone who has lost their job because of going to a meeting. So personally I wouldn't worry.
