LifelongVaginaOwner · 21/03/2018 08:46

Go Lucy

Teenytinyvoice · 21/03/2018 08:47

I’m yelling at the radio...

Its not transphobic to ask questions!!!

BlackeyedSusan · 21/03/2018 08:47

Snap

PencilsInSpace · 21/03/2018 08:48

She was fantastic!

niceberg · 21/03/2018 08:48

And she got in another "it's not transphobic you just don't agree with me" as the interview finished. Nicely done!

There are some things I think Lucy could have expressed better at the start of the interview but I'm just very pleased that this debate is actually happening in the mainstream.

LifelongVaginaOwner · 21/03/2018 08:48

After I saw Lucy at the London meeting I thought she should be used more. She doesn't half screw with the 'it's all middle-class, straight white feminists complaining' narrative. And she's very, very good.

Loved her last word slightly off mic "It's not transphobic, you just don't agree with it"

OldBlueStitches · 21/03/2018 08:50

First time I've heard Women-experienced-trans (think that's what it was). Great twist of words. Doesn't change the reality!!

Lunch was brill.

LizzieSiddal · 21/03/2018 08:50

Emily said they had never seen evidence of any abuse towards Wimen in the Labour Party and asked for evidence.

I’m sure many people have already written to UKLabour with evidence and it’s been dismissed!

terryleather · 21/03/2018 08:50

Just caught the last seconds of this, Lucy sounded brilliant.

Snorted at the transphobic comment by what I'm presuming was a TIM at the end.

Cuntysnark · 21/03/2018 08:51

She was brilliant!

BahHumbygge · 21/03/2018 08:51

Came downstairs half way through this, will have to listen again to the beginning. Lucy was awesome, I gave the radio a standing ovation at the end.

Me too. Both speeches she made were inspirational.

Pratchet · 21/03/2018 08:52

Emily was dreadful did you mean Emily or Lucy. Emily was the TIM.

Sorry I meant Lucy!

I’ll ask for my last post to be deleted.

She was great but sometimes I wish we could just tell the truth. It doesn't matter how you feel inside, or how you dress, or what hormones you take, or what surgeries you have or what name you chose- a trans woman is just that. Men cannot become women (and vice versa). I know that's not the ground we're fighting for now but really that's at the root of it all.

Cuntysnark · 21/03/2018 08:52

LizzieSiddal But had seen it TO them... strange

Pratchet · 21/03/2018 08:52

Also (shallow) Lucy has the nicest voice and accent. Is that just me.

Bugger I was too late and there was some Greek bloke talking instead.

Lucy Masoud was terrific just now on the Radio 4 Today programme. It was a short piece but she managed to lay out some of the harassment that's been directed at women. Emily Brothers tried to pour cold water on it and in response Masoud then asked her to condemn the actions against women and Brothers refused to do this. She said she hadn't seen any evidence. Brothers had little to say other than to complain about "transphobia" throughout the piece.

However, one interesting thing was Brothers introduced the new (to me) concept of "women with a trans experience". As ever, it could cover everyone or only transsexuals as the context might demand.

Melamin · 21/03/2018 08:54

On one of my rare forays onto the today programme Lucy masoud came on. She is pure gold. I am blown away. She brushed away the cries of trans phobia and offence and got everything she could across.

Complete denial of offensive behaviour by the trans activist as usual as there is apparently a lack of evidence Hmm. Well worth listening again on i player.
