Still waiting for my little man to arrive but starting a thread ready. Can't wait to catch up with all the other May 20 mums.

Huge congratulations to those who have already met their little ones. It's been quite a scary time to face giving birth recently and you've all done amazingly.

So happy to see this thread! I've loved chatting with all the May mummy's during my pregnancy :)

My little boy, Marley Robin was born 14/5/20 weighing 9lbs13oz! Currently on the special baby ward as he's got strep b/sepsis symptoms, but I'm so lucky to have him here and being looking after by lots of caring doctors! Hopefully he will have a quick recovery and I can cuddle him soon :)
I went 3 days over.

Having to hand express milk at the moment as I really want to breast feed so I've just done my first 2ml and spilt it 🤦🏼‍♀️ never mind!

How's everyone finding feeding, sleeping.... and everything in between?

For any new new mums worried about breastfeeding, Ds barely fed the first 2-3 days in hospital. Just couldn't latch well, then ate 5 mins at a time. Midwife kept ramming boob in his face and he just seemed stressed.
However from day 4 ish once we were home he has got better and better and now after 2 weeks is feeding well and no problems so far.

I'm glad I didn't panic too much about lack of feeding first few days, but had read many babies are just worn out from birth and so need a little time. ie boob forced at him at 3 hours old didn't need to be (he had fed straight after birth anyway)

Hi everyone, thanks for starting the thread @MarshmallowsOnToast ☺️

Baby George was born on Tuesday at 41+1 weighing 8 lbs 7 Oz. We had the 3 day check today which went well, he has lost 3% of his birth weight so I'm pleased with that!

@november30 Currently giving a mixture of formula and expressed breast milk/colostrum, and he feeds every 2-2.5 hours. The nights feel loooong 😂 I am hand expressing too but going to get my electric pump out tomorrow and see how much I can get as I think my milk is transitioning

Still waiting for my girl to arrive, due the 20th. We have just been to the midwife and have to have a scan on Monday if she hasn't arrived as the bump measurement seems to have lost a few weeks! Midwife is sure it's because she's gone from not being engaged at all to being fully engaged. Otherwise she has shrunk 😂😂

Hi all😊 we are starting to trickle into postnatal now as more May babies arrive!

I breastfed for the first 4 days but then got mastsis so decided for my sanity I would go to formula( As long as baby is happy & healthy I didn't have a massive preference on breast or bottle so I am ok with this). Been on antibiotics for nearly a week now so feeling much better in myself! It's typical I got it just as I hit the "hormonal 3-5day period!". Baby Ada is much more content on the bottle and I'm happier as not in as much pain and starting to feel a bit more normal!! She sleeps quite well at the moment- every 3-4 hours for a feed. Those that aren't FTM how long would you say it takes to recover from the birth? I expect to be tired but i am ok one minute and then have spells of complete lack of energy. 🙄 Labour for me was quite quick but I was cut & needed forseps due to her position so wondering if it will take me longer. Xxx

I’m breastfeeding, during the daytime he’s an angel and then at night he wants feeding all the time. Has got me frustrated at times where I’m so tired and I never feel like I have enough milk but we’ve done so well to establish feeding that I’m determined to carry on.

@May2311 I think it depends on what kind of birth you have to be honest. My first was a long labour and ended up in forceps and episiotomy and had a blood transfusion. It took my a good 2-3 weeks to feel anywhere near myself. This time round the birth was very quick and straightforward apart from some stitches. I’ve felt completely myself from a couple of days afterwards, tiredness aside!

@Emmacb82 the midwife I spoke to yesterday said between approx 10pm and 4pm your breasts produce more pheromones to increase milk production/supply and babies pick up on this making them more awake and want to feed more - crazy!

@May2311 oooo that's great, I hope George starts having a 3-4 hour gap soon! I also had a really long first birth, I didn't have an instrumental delivery but I did have a 2b tear. I didn't sleep for approx 70 hours due to labour and then being on a noisy post natal ward so it took me far longer than I anticipated to recover physically and emotionally. I would say I started to feel more myself/ normal after about 6 weeks, emotional side of things took much longer though.

This time round much more straight forward, still a 2b tear and some grazestoo but I think it will start to feel normal down there in another week or so and emotionally feeling ok.

Look after yourself and get as much rest as you can!

Not been on for a while.

Currently still waiting for bump to arrive - he was 'due' on the 9th May.

Got an induction booked for Tuesday if he hasn't come on his own by then (really wanted to avoid that if possible this time as I didn't have a great induction with my first. However, it seems my body is good at the pregnancy part ... less so at the labour part)

MarshmallowsOnToast · 16/05/2020 08:15

@lornz

I have an induction booked for Tuesday too (I'll be 41w) but really hoping things happen naturally before then. If not we can be induction buddies.

Hoping you go into labour over the weekend 🤞

Today I shall be bouncing on my birthing ball all day 😌

@MarshmallowsOnToast

I'll be 40 +10 so the latest they like to offer at our trust unless you turn down induction and opt for monitoring (which I was offered :))

I've spent the past week since my birthday on Monday on the ball and going for walks ha (had a failed sweep on Thursday too) he evidently doesn't want to come out 🙈

Here's hoping babies make their arrival soon!

MarshmallowsOnToast · 16/05/2020 09:03

@lornz

I also had a sweep on Thursday.

Midwife said she had a really good go at it & that she thought she'd perhaps broke my waters. But nada since!

I was all raring to go on Thursday night & brought all my bags down but now they are just sat there. 👎🏻

Fingers crossed for you.

@Emmacb82 & @Lu1u - thanks both I feel much better knowing it's normal for it to take a while now!! I am obviously super pleased with current feeding routine but keep thinking when will it change as it seems too early for it to be a routine haha 😂

Hi all 😊 Lucas is now 4 days old and doing really well! We had a rough night Friday, the teats on his bottles were too fast so he had terrible wind and was up most of the night. Swapped to variflow teats and started on infacol and hes like a different baby! Feeling much more rested today. How is everyone?

@sao81 - he is absolutely gorgeous 😍 Glad you have got sorted with the teats. I feel I am rubbish at winding- she gets some wind up with me but all my hubby has to do is pick her up and she burps 😂😂

@november90 - massively in love. Feel like she has been here forever. She is 2 weeks old today - this time 2 weeks ago my waters had just gone 💕❤️😍

@May2311 thank you! He hates being winded, he spends the whole time mooching for the bottle teat pulling angry faces at us 😂
