Still waiting for my little man to arrive but starting a thread ready. Can't wait to catch up with all the other May 20 mums.

Huge congratulations to those who have already met their little ones. It's been quite a scary time to face giving birth recently and you've all done amazingly.

So I’m furious - I received a letter yesterday from the HV saying since I didn’t bother making a appointment for her 8 month check one has been made for me. It was written very condescending and as if I’m not bothered if she’s ok or not... baring in mind I’ve never seen the HV.... may be me being over sensitive but I was fuming 🤬

@Emmacb82 🤣🤣🤣 hubby and I have decided to start trying. We always wanted them close together so now feels like a good time. Hopefully we will fall fairly quickly and I can start counting down to my next mat leave 🤣. Hopefully you will be able to get a few hours sleep on a morning to keep you ticking over during the day! I agree it is so frustrating having so a different mat leave to what we all had planned!

@CharlieB93 that's so annoying!!! I've never had to "make" an appointment they have always contacted me with the appt. although I didn't know they had to have 8 month check?! Are you in uK? Xx

That’s terrible!! Not over sensitive at all, it’s not up to you to make appointments, they are supposed to send them to you! I would phone them tomorrow and complain.

@May2311 yep I’m in the U.K.!! You’ll be getting a shirty letter soon no doubt 😂

@Emmacb82 I know! I didn’t know whether I was over reacting but now I’ve had time to stew I’m even more angry! I’ve tried to contact them when she was younger and they were useless/didn’t ring me back 🤬

Back to work tomorrow after 13 months off. I feel so teary and heartbroken. Wish I could go back in time! How is everyone doing?

I go back end of May but have just found out we are expecting No.2 in early December so won't be back for long!

DD started walking a couple of weeks ago and she is ALL over!! I need eyes everywhere 🤣 I can't believe how quickly they seem to pick it up- she tries "running" away from me now and finds it a game ❤️

I'm not going back full time, I've actually reduced my hours down to 18 over 3 days and he's staying with my mum the whole time, so I know that I'm extremely lucky and it could be so much worse! But as a single parent to 2, I just feel we're not going to get our sleepy cuddly naps or much 1 on 1 time together :( I know I need to accept he's getting older, but these baby days have been amazing and made me so happy! I know I'm not letting him down but part of me feels like I am as hell wake up tomorrow and not know why I'm away part of the day :(

Feeling fine at the moment! Just have to be mindful with what I eat or I feel little sickly after but not too bad! Hopefully it will stay that way! Awww thats lovely- at least you know he will be very well looked after!! I don't really have many comforting words as that's my biggest dread that A doesn't know where I am when I go back but everyone says they will get used to it ❤️ also try and think at least it's only 3 days so for the other 4 you can have snuggles all the time!! Xx

I went back to work 3 weeks ago. Only doing 2 shifts a week but am working nights and then staying awake to look after baby so not easy. But wanted to avoid childcare costs and didn’t fancy putting him in a nursery when he hasn’t spent any time away from us at all. Still in thoughts about having another one, life would be much easier sticking with 2, but I just can’t get a third out of my head! Hope everyone else doing ok.

How is everyone getting on?

It’s Ds 1st birthday tomorrow! Getting a little teary thinking about it, it’s gone so fast.

This year had absolutely flown by hasn't it, I just cannot believe it. I don't think I'll ever be W to accept called him a toddler and not a baby 🙈

@november90 - no major plans. Most things still closed here, but our neighbours will pop over for some cake and champagne in the afternoon. Local farm opening in a few weeks so we will head that way then. FaceTime family.

Dh says Ds is already a toddler as has been walking and now running for months. I think he’s a baby until he’s at least 12 years old

@Caspianberg awww Happy Birthday LO! My DD is 1 tomorrow and I keep thinking "ah this time last year we were doing this XYZ" It's bank holiday in England which worked out really well as it means Hubby is off work as well 🙌 xxx

@May2311 awwww happy birthday for tomorrow to yours ❤️ work was a massive shock tk the system as so much has changed, my whole job role has changed and not sure I like it :( but I'm just gonna remain optimistic as not sure it's wise to be job hunting right now. So happy for the bank holiday though and spending it with my little darling! Thank you for asking 🥰

Ps hope nobody minds me asking but what gift have you bought? I am so stuck for ideas! I have a 4 year old and I remember pretty much everything I bought him was a waste of money/space for the first 2 years 😅

@november90 - we bought him a trike. Family members between them have bought various bits for the garden as we had nothing yet. So small sand pit, little mud kitchen and small seesaw. Hopefully keep him entertained throughout the summer

Aww happy birthday babies! My baby turned 1 at the end of April. My older one enjoyed opening the presents and playing with them. Baby wasn't that bothered She did like the cake though! We just got a few small things as we have so much from her brother! Some stickle bricks, a stacking toy and a soft ball. We also got out her brother's Pukylino trike so I'm sure she'll get going on that in no time

How's everyone doing? I got my little girls one year check today. Totally new to me as didn't have one with my first. She is walking now and I need to go and get her feet measured for her first shoes.

@Raindancer411 awww how did the check go? M turned one last Friday and we had a such a lovely day! Felt so emotional going back in time to last year and suddenly wishing I could do it all over again! ❤️
I need to book my Clarke's trip soon too! I don't really like the boys first Walker shoes from Clarke's but I feel like it's a coming of age thing to get their first pair from there 🙈
We are in 12 month sleep regression HELL naps are all over the shop since going back to work and he's in a horrendous habit of waking up for 1/2/3 hours once or twice every night and then my 4 year old gets up at 5 😰 been like this a couple weeks so hoping things settle down soon

How has everyone found getting out and about with a pandemic born baby?

Hey!!! As if they will be 2 in May!!!! I was crazy enough to add another one to my gang in October so currently surviving having 3 children under 4. Pandemic baby is by far my hardest, completely different breed hahaha!!! Loving taking him out though, he’s finally getting to properly experience farms and zoos and days out and he bloomin loves it! How’s everyone doing?

@Raindancer411 - good thank you. Crazy how the times past.
Ds is 2 beginning of May, just ordered him a Running bike. A bike already!
He’s turning into a kind and adventurous soul. Loves climbing. Hates sleeping.

Pandemic has meant little contact with family/ Friends as we are overseas so travel restrictions on and off. But all in all he doesn’t seem to have been affected by it, is now making toddler age local friends, and will start kindergarten in Autumn

Wow, kindergarten already?!? My little girl will start nursery September 2023, so a little while yet. She is a cheeky thing, total chalk and cheese between her and her much older brother. She is into everything, loves to climb and tries foods when on your plant. Although weaning was a bit of a nightmare 😂

She will be due a 2.5 year check around Christmas time (if they are back to doing them by then)

She has only just decided to get out of her buggy and join in a toddler singing group at the local library the last week. Before that she would bawl her eyes out and had taken a while to warm to people. Not long actually started to allow her grand parents to pick her up and have cuddles. We are getting there!!
