Still waiting for my little man to arrive but starting a thread ready. Can't wait to catch up with all the other May 20 mums.

Huge congratulations to those who have already met their little ones. It's been quite a scary time to face giving birth recently and you've all done amazingly.

@Sunshine8888 yes just to mirror what @olivesandpecans said... you can't wipe thrush away. So you might see little spots on the lips or a white tounge. But also concentrate on your own symptoms as Caroline May just not be showing them. Soar, irritated, itchy nipples are what I remember of breast thrush!

Delbelleber · 22/05/2020 08:06

My baby's got a sticky eye! Woke up and the poor wee eye was crusted shut with gunge. I've cleaned it with boiled water. I know people say use breast milk but does that really work? My poor baby!

mrsf1204 · 22/05/2020 08:46

@Delbelleber yes 100%!! Oliver had an awful eye and breast milk cleared it up in a matter of days!! Amazing stuff!! I just dropped a single drop in at each feed and left it xx

May2311 · 22/05/2020 09:06

@Delbelleber aw poor baba! That's soo interesting though about the breast milk! My little one had a bad eye about a week ago and I just used boiled water to clean it and it cleared in a couple of days- breast milk trick is good to know for next time though!! Xx

Emmacb82 · 22/05/2020 09:08

Yes Noah has had a sticky eye on and off too and I used cool boiled water and some breast milk too! Works a treat. Hoping for a better day today, Noah was so unsettled all day yesterday, hardly slept, wanted feeding all the time and just cried if he wasn’t. Not sure if it was the heat or what. Was horrible seeing him like that.

Delbelleber · 22/05/2020 09:18

Thanks guys.

Delbelleber · 23/05/2020 00:42

The breast milk is definitely better than water for the eye!
He's very unsettled tonight. He pretty much slept all day with me feeding him whilst asleep . Woke up about 7pm and now is struggling to settle.

Courtney2020 · 23/05/2020 08:52

@november90 I delivered my little boy through emergency Csection yesterday at 31 weeks and 2 days weighing 3lbs 5oz he's so perfect xx

Delbelleber · 23/05/2020 10:10

Congratulations @Courtney2020 is he doing well? Flowers

Sunshine8888 · 23/05/2020 10:24

Congrats @Courtney2020 💙 my baby was premature also x

I’ve checked Coralie’s mouth and still not convinced she has thrush, I feel like it would be more obvious if she had it.

@May2311 I had an episiotomy, no idea if it’s healed, I’m too scared to look down there! I bled for about 6 weeks then stopped but now bleeding again. I’m a bit confused and wondering if this could be my period? Haven’t had a proper period for over 15 years as I fell pregnant very quickly after coming off the pill. I’m going to monitor and mention at my 8 week check on 2 June

Emmacb82 · 23/05/2020 11:08

Congratulations @Courtney2020 hope your little one is doing well and you are recovering. Sending lots of love.

I had an episiotomy with my first, it took probably a good 8 weeks to heal as it was quite big and got infected at one point. It’s harder for women at the moment as you don’t have enough face to face appointments for them to check it for you. If you’re worried then try and get someone to look at it. But don’t panic if it’s taking time to heal, it’s normal x

Babymamma192 · 23/05/2020 14:14

So glad this thread has been made and very happy to see the pictures and hear about how your all getting on!
I'm on my way to the hospital to be induced now so hopefully won't be long until my little girl is here 😬

AlmostAlwyn · 23/05/2020 14:31

Good luck @Babymamma192! Hope it all goes smoothly for you!

Emmacb82 · 23/05/2020 15:36

Good luck @Babymamma192!! Hope it goes well and look forward to hearing about your little girl x

May2311 · 23/05/2020 15:49

@Courtney2020- congratulations! Hope you and baby are doing well and look after yourself!

@Emmacb82 @Sunshine8888 - thanks both! Perhaps I'm being too impatient🙄😂 I just want to be back to normal and feel ok!! From what I have read it's quite common to bleed for a while, stop and then have another bleed sunshine8888 but I would defo mention it at your postnatal check. That's what I've found hard because of the limited face to face contact no one is checking and I have no idea if things are normal or not! Xxx

Babymamma192 · 23/05/2020 15:58

@AlmostAlwyn Thanks I'm feeling really nervous but trying to stay calm and just think about the baby being here Smile

GinUnicorn · 23/05/2020 21:24

Thanks for starting the thread. Unfortunately PND has been colouring my newborn days massively. I’m trying to take it by day and bond with the poor little man. Hopefully this fog will clear soon.

Emmacb82 · 23/05/2020 21:40

Sorry to hear that @GinUnicorn. I had it with my first baby and I struggled on for months before I got any help. With everything going on at the moment and the lack of services please make sure you are talking to someone. Be in contact with your health visitor and if necessary your GP. I put off any treatment for a long time and I didn’t realise quite how bad I felt until I was on medication and feeling a lot better. Took me a long time to bond properly with baby. You can always talk on here and there will be someone to listen. Be kind to yourself and don’t put any pressure on yourself to feel a certain way. Big hugs x

Delbelleber · 23/05/2020 21:49

Aaw @GinUnicorn sorry to hear that Sad

@Babymamma192 i hope your induction is going well and looking forward to baby news Grin

Had a good day today, lots of feeding which is good because he still hasn't gained any lost birth weight which I'm feeling abit crap about. Latch is better on left side now so that is a relief! We also had our first outing in the pram today, walked to tesco. Almost turned back because he was crying and not taking the dummy but I ended up taking him out in the howling wind with 3 blankets wrapped round him and giving him a 5 min feed which was enough to settle him :)

november90 · 23/05/2020 22:47

@GinUnicorn oh bless you, it is so tough isn't it! I've had some baby blues but I do remember feeling much worse first time round. I never sought help and was thankfully fine after a week or two. Just remember you're not alone and how you feel doesn't define you as a Mummy ❤️ I hope they disappear on their own but please chat on here of you need to lovely xxx

@Courtney2020 so pleased to hear of the safe arrival of your little one! How are you feeling? ❤️

mrsf1204 · 24/05/2020 04:00

@ginunicorn I hear you, I'm also struggling with PND. Be kind to yourself, I've found so many paint the newborn days as this 'happy rosey glow' and that isn't how I'm feeling at all. I got myself in a right state over it last week and thought something was really wrong with me and felt like a failure for feeling the way I did and not how I was 'supposed to.' But with my Midwife's help I understand that it's my hormones, and together we are working through it. So be kind to yourself, the fog will lift xxx

november90 · 24/05/2020 06:29

Oh @mrsf1204 I'm sorry that you're struggling too. I remember Ewing my first it would always happen at the same time of day, around 4pm. I used to go to shower just so I could cry really loudly without anyone hearing me because I felt ashamaed.... which is ridiculous! Sending lots of positive thoughts to you and @GinUnicorn and always here to chat if you need it ❤️❤️❤️

Is anyone else getting night sweats? The past couple nights I wake up and I'm boiling and sweating! I've read online it's normal but I've never actually heard of it linked to having a baby before!
Midwife is coming round today and I'll probably be discharged all being well! Ok feeling a bit strange down there though... it just feels itchy and soar... I do have stitches so I imagine they will be checked... is it ridiculous that after having a baby a week ago I'm embarrassed to have it checked 🙈

May2311 · 24/05/2020 08:39

@GinUnicorn & @mrsf1204 Make sure you look after yourself and keep talking to midwives for support. It will pass. Xx

@november90 me! They are awful. I am 3 weeks in now and they have started to ease but I think they can last a couple of months from what I've read.

Anyone have any suggestions on why my Little one would be making grunting/snorting noises whilst sleeping? She has only started doing it the last few nights. She seems to be more or less asleep when doing it. I originally thought wind but I make sure I wind her loads and she also seems to be regular with bowel movements. She sleeps brilliantly at night but then I'm not sleeping because the noises keep me up 🙄😂 xxx

AlmostAlwyn · 24/05/2020 11:41

@May2311 newborn grunting! Really annoying, but definitely normal Smile It's also keeping me awake! With my first, I was questioning it the same as you and my mum said, "oh yes, he'll do that for the first 18 months or so" Shock But it was only 6 or 8 weeks I think and it quietened down Smile

May2311 · 24/05/2020 13:08

@AlmostAlwyn ah thanks! Relief to know it's normal. I was thinking something is wrong. I guess we just have to get used to sleeping through it 😂😂 xx
