Thank you for setting it up :) baby had 3 nights of sleeping between 11-6 with waking up for one feed but tonight he just wouldn't sleep for DH after his feed and even putting him in the car seat for a bit which can make him settle usually, hasn't worked.
So I ve got the TV on low and trying to get him to sleep in my arms for a bit but boy do I get a dead arm quickly with how chunky he is.

Mc3209 · 14/12/2020 07:07

Unsettled night here too, mainly with straining/wind. Gripe water is not quite doing the trick. I hate seeing him strain so much, but invariably it is followed by a massive poo and the relief is satisfying. Now waiting for that poo.

@1990shopefulftm in the night I usually put a boppy pillow under my elbow when holding him in a cradle hold, that helps with my arm staying comfortable. During the day I use that My Brest Friend pillow, which is like a firm foam table strapped to your torso, and that takes the majority of baby weight.

@Mc3209 I hadn't gotten a feeding pillow as he's bottle fed but I ll see if there's something he ll fit on.

@Mc3209 for setting up the new thread.

I’m the same with post pregnancy weight, it dropped off and then has stopped too. I’m a stone heavier, so need to start doing exercise at home, but limited to what I can do because of my diastasis recti, did anyone else get that? Any tips of getting over the last hurdle?

Any tips for daytime naps? Paige will go to sleep if we go out in the car, or sometimes for a walk. But if we stay at home she won’t nap. She’s a great night sleeper al will do 9pm-9am with a feed between 5-7am most nights. I’ve tried the pram, cot, next to me, night time routine (without the bath).

@DressingGown87 my DR is pretty bad, I ve closed the gap a bit but it's very slow.
Can Paige have her pram indoors and get her sleeping in that? Or can you take her car seat out and see if she settles if you rock that

@DressingGown87 I've given up on day time naps. Some days Rafa will have a 1-2 hour nap, an odd day (like yesterday) when he has several naps, but the majority of the time I am lucky if he has a 10-20 min one. He sleeps reasonably well at night too, usually waking up twice for a feed. Now he is starting to give me longer stretches in the night with sleeping through for 7 hours.

Apparently babies will get all the sleep they need come hell or high water, so I am just going with the flow. If it ain't broke, don't fix it type of thing. It was a bit tricky to 'decouple' self care/housework from nap times and learning how to do it with baby awake..

@1990shopefulftm glad to hear your DR is closing up, are you at physio? Mine is still quite wide, but they’ve said probably about 6 months 😞 I’ve tried car seat and Pram in the house, but she just sits there waiting to go out. I would take her for a walk, but can’t get the pram inside with her in, at the back or front of the house due to steps.

@Mc3209 that’s how I feel, just go with the flow. If we go out she will have a 2/3hour sleep! But then some days I just want to stay home. She’s just going to have to learn how to Hoover 😂 or work, and hopefully workout sleep is the better option!

Out of interest. What time do your babies go to bed? I’ve always worked on 8pm bath time, with 9.30pm bottle and bed. But I would love some me time in the evening, so wondering when do you start the earlier bedtime?

Report
Mc3209 · 14/12/2020 08:33

Bed time around 10pm here too, mainly because of this whole 'baby needs to sleep in the same room as you' thing. Eventually I will shift the bed time to earlier.

@DressingGown87 forgot to say, have you tried the sling for during the day naps? I find Rafa falls asleep easier in it if he is going to sleep.

@DressingGown87 I m not at physio yet, I m going to go private for it after Christmas, Mentally I feel great most of the time but I m not too keen on going back to the hospital unless I have to at this point as I m still coming to terms with parts of what happened, so want to go to the private clinic where I feel comfortable.

My active labour I m very happy with but how they dealt with things beforehand and afterwards wasn't great at times, it's not the staffs fault there weren't enough of them so mistakes got made,I ve not made a complaint against them as I don't want to risk someone's job for something out of their control.

He doesn't really have a specific bed time, I go to bed at 9 and DH stays downstairs with baby in the moses basket so I can sleep till 2 and then DH comes up to bed and sometimes he'll settle in his crib easily but when he doesn't I bring him downstairs to make sure DH can get his solid sleep before work and then baby goes in the moses basket next to the sofa when he does sleep.

Gosh! I feel a bit behind the curve. Some of you sound like you're getting into a routine already!

I feel really tied to Alfie during the day. He won't nap anywhere else other than on me so I feel glued to the sofa.

Maybe I should try getting him to nap in his bed upstairs?

Re bedtime, anywhere between 10pm and 11:30pm.

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt they are still in 4th trimester, it's not really possible getting them into a proper routine, I'll start trying to set up some resemblance of a routine at 3 months. I'd say enjoy the cuddles!

Hello 👋
We aren’t in a routine here at all really... just go with the flow, with a three year old too I think it would be soul destroying trying to stick to one - would constantly feel like a failure! We are in London so absolutely gutted just gone into tier 3... so much lovely Christmas stuff next week cancelled.

FirstSurprise001 · 14/12/2020 18:16

@DressingGown87 we’re working on a 5:30/6pm bath time as my DH doesn’t get home until 7:30pm every night so he can get a nap in then be awake around then for a couple of hours. Normally goes down at 9:30/10pm. We’re also finally getting some longer stints at night, only waking for a feed at 2/3am and then 6am. Difficult to put him back down at 6am though so I’m starting my days super early now 😩😂

Report
Sls668 · 14/12/2020 19:03

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt we’ve no routine (well not that I have chosen 😂) and don’t expect to for a while. I think a lot of the babies here are a lot older than Zuri though as she was so late. She’s only 5 weeks tomorrow.
Night times are pretty good. We go up to bed about 11.30 - there’s no point trying before then as 9-11 seems to be here wide awake time! Then she co-sleeps with us as we feed while I/she sleeps so usually she wakes up for a nappy change and to swap sides around 5am. I don’t really like having her between us so I usually stay awake for that one then I put her back on the left side and we sleep from about 5.30-9.30am.
During the day though anything goes, sometimes she is awake practically all day, other days she sleeps most of the days. There’s no guessing how it’ll go!

@Mc3209 thanks for the new thread. have you tried colief drops I didn't find gripe water done anything but the colief drops were better. they are expensive but can get them on prescription.

we have no real routine either had been doing bath at half 8 then bottle and bed but thinking thats too early because he woke up at 12for another bottle

I think I need to make a dental appointment.. I'm hoping it's just sensitivity. How I am going to do that logistically with a frequently feeding baby who is a bottle refuser I do not know.

@Mc3209 I’ve just accepted I have to get my boobs out everywhere I go. I had my hair cut whilst feeding the other day, just covered her with the apron when we were cutting near her so she didn’t end up covered in hair!

Hi ladies! Haven’t been on here for a while tried to catch up with the last thread!

The twins are 12 weeks this week and it’s gone so quickly I can’t believe it. We are still going strong on breastfeeding and it’s my favourite thing to do to sit down with them and cuddle.

For the past couple of weeks they have been having their last feed at around 9pm and waking around 7am - so proud of them, during the day we feed every 3 hrs.

Big sisters love their new roles and the girls have settled in so well, I was so scared I couldn’t spread my love between all 4 of them!

Hope everyone is ok! 💗

@EmmaA96 great to hear from you! So pleased your little ones settled into such wonderful routine 🥰
May I ask a silly question? What are the logistics of breastfeeding both babies at the same time? One on each boob type of thing?

Thanks ladies, I will stick to the later bedtime for now. I suppose if it’s working, as she sleeps through 9/10-7.30, then not to change it. It’s just she gets grumpy in the evenings. The last two days I’ve had work / appointments so have dropped Paige off with a friend. She napped 4.5hours straight Monday, from me dropping her off, to 5 minutes before I collected her. Yesterday she had a 2&3 hour naps too. So I assume it’s just being at home / with me that makes her not want to nap 😂.

With routine, pretty much anything goes in the day. It’s just bedtime I try and do every night at the same time, and in the same order. But she is 9weeks now, so nearing the end of the 4th trimester.

@1990shopefulftm Fingers crossed it gets easier for you, and atleast you have the option to go private which makes you feel more comfortable. With the DV the physio just gets me to do pilate exercises.

@Mc3209 I was advised not to use a carrier / sling as my collar bone is pinned together. Otherwise I thought it would be a godsend. Oh no about the dentist, I think with most you wait in your car until your appointment, so Atleast your only in for a short time.

@EmmaA96 so nice to hear your update. Glad your girls are doing well (big and small). That’s is amazing, that both of them are doing so well with their sleeping.
