Here's a link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness lovingly managed by @ouchmyfeet.

I've added a couple of names that I've spotted this evening, but they're at the bottom of the list not alphabetised - if your name isn't on the list, add yours at the bottom, and we'll re-alphabetise it once we get going.

Thank you BIWI. I'm ready to go.
(I don't know why my tagging isn't working.)

BIWI · 16/01/2022 17:26

Before we get going, here's the all-important disclaimer:

I'm not a medic. I'm not a scientist, nutritionist or dietician. Everything that I write here is based on the reading I've done over the last 15 or so years. You sign up and take part in Bootcamp at your own risk - although I fervently hope there are no risks!

Please note, if you're taking any long-term medication, especially for hypertension or diabetes or high cholesterol, you should consult your GP; low carbing (for most people) will bring high blood pressure and cholesterol levels down, and will help regulate your blood sugar levels - so the dosage of your medication may need to be reviewed, if not reduced

A note about weighing

Each Monday I'll re-post the spreadsheet for you to add your weight. Weight is the most conventional way that we monitor progress, but it isn't the only way, and actually isn't always the most accurate way. It's not unknown for people to see no change on the scales, yet to know that they've lost weight as their clothes are fitting better.

You don't have to weigh (and nor do you need to be on the spreadsheet), but it is always helpful to know how you're progressing, as this helps to keep you focused. There are two other important ways to do this:

1 - take your measurements. Hips, waist and bust, as well as upper thigh and upper arms.

2 - find an article of clothing that currently just a little too tight - a pair of jeans, or a blouse - and try them on each week. This is the most tangible way to see how things are working for you.

You can do these as well as weighing of course!

Oooh exciting! How will I like my eggs in the morning Grin

BIWI · 16/01/2022 17:52

Also, before we really get going, a plea for good thread etiquette!

The threads will move very quickly (especially in the first couple of weeks). But please, please, please read everything that's been posted. Use the bookmark facility so that you don't lose your place. Don't just jump on the thread to post your own stuff without bothering to read what others have posted

It is very wearing when we have to keep answering the same questions, because posters haven't bothered to read what's gone before!

Hi everyone and good luck! I've been easing in gently by doing bootcamp light since around 3rd January and been absolutely loving it. Feeling leaner and more energised and loving the food. Can't wait to start bootcamp proper tomorrow and shed a bit more lard.

prettybird · 16/01/2022 17:58

Looking forward to the Boot Camp starting officially. I've been doing it a week already (in order to be off the strict first two weeks by Burns Night Grin and have already lost 6lb Smile

Shameless place mark Wink

psed · 16/01/2022 18:43

Is it too late to join? Desperately need to start looking after myself a little bit better.

PlantBasedPlatypus · 16/01/2022 18:52

Yo Team.

Can't say I will get through this for the full time, but at least I can say i will have tried.

Looking forwards to some yummy tofu and vegetable scramble for breakfast tomorrow...

OneFootintheRave · 16/01/2022 19:03

Thanks BIWI and hi everyone. This really worked for me in summer. Only difference now is that I will be in the office a lot and surrounded by treats and biscuits.

SweetPotatoDumpling · 16/01/2022 19:08

Lovely to be here at last...it feels like an AGE since the first mumblings of a 2022 Bootcamp were discussed way back in December :-)

I'm quietly confident that I've got this!

missfliss · 16/01/2022 19:13

Yo ! Ready to get healthier x

MrsTophamHat · 16/01/2022 19:19

Thank you for this BIWI. Have been shopping today and bought lots of butter and green veg to get me going!

I've only ever managed to keep LC going when i've been on mat leave. I know I can be satisfied on this WOE, but the difference this time will be the survival mode/ anything to get me through the day thought pattern.

FitnessKeepItGoing · 16/01/2022 19:27

Looking forward to this! I started just after Christmas and lost quite a few pounds, but carbed throughout the last week and I can just feel that I've put it all back on. Starting with the group tomorrow will help to keep me focused! Good luck everyone! Flowers

MercedesBenz · 16/01/2022 19:34

Looking forward to getting started
Big birthday looming and I’d like to be a bit slinkier but then
Good luck all

FinallyHere · 16/01/2022 19:40

Hello again lovely people, I'm very glad to be back. I feel so.much.better on this WOEating that I can't imagine why I even fall off the waggon. Haven't seriously been around for a while, it's good to be back and I'm glad to recognise some familiar usernames

Hattip @BIWI and her big stick, @stuntnun et al. Thank you for setting it all up & for your ongoing support, all really very much appreciated.

Been bootcamping for a week now and already notice my appetite waning a bit.

Using bootcamp to treat sugar the way alcoholics treat their poison really works for me. Trying to limit my sugar intake to 'in moderation' just takes up too much headspace and never works. It's easier for me to just abstain and stick to LCHF

Tried shoogled sprouts for the first time and delighted by just how delicious they are. Just love being five mins max away from deliciousness at any time. The only trouble I have ever had with bootcamp has been not taking the FTGV seriously enough , overdosing on meat and needing desperate remedies for constipation.

Shoogled sprouts and lamb chop, shoogled sprouts & cauliflower and Nigella's 40 cloves of garlic chicken and i am safe from vampires, too.

What is not to like.

Oh, sorry, this is beginning to sound like my Oscar's speech. Weighing myself seems to trigger a madness which I can do without. I shall use fitting into my white Levi's shorts from back in 1990 (before Lycra was introduced to let me think things still fitted) as my benchmark.

Today, lovely boot campers, the waistband can go no further than the top of my tights. If I ever fit into them again ( with the button fly done up ) I shall post a pic here in thanks and celebration.

Shorter term, my motivation from meal to meal is to feel so much better: reduced indigestion, reduced lethargy, reduced congestion in my sinuses and generally more get up and go.

Looking forward to hearing from everyone, in solidarity.

DonNotKeith · 16/01/2022 19:43

New to low carbing and biggest I've ever been. Thank you for this. (have added myself to spreadsheet) X

AllTheBlackCoffee · 16/01/2022 20:09

Have been back bootcamping since Jan 1 and am already feeling so much better. Today I wore the jeans I wore on NYE and could really feel a difference. I've not weighed yet, as I know it's going to be awful, but I am going to face the music tomorrow morning.

I've got an underachiever thyroid, which was only diagnosed last year and is still not under control so I'm interested to see how LC affects my weight and symptoms etc.

Good luck to everyone starting tomorrow Flowers

AllTheBlackCoffee · 16/01/2022 20:10

FFS underactive thyroid. Although it does seem like it's often underachieving too!!

Zonder · 16/01/2022 20:23

I'm checking in but I've had covid for a few days so might need to start later in the week because dh is in charge of the kitchen at the moment. Not sure I can put the extra pressure of low carb on him!

ZiggZagg · 16/01/2022 20:41

Checking in, motivated for tomorrow so I will start with being honest and accountable, I've had a last hurrah this evening but I am so ready for tomorrow.

7 weeks and 2 days until I got to Rome so I will be hoping to be at least one stone down by then!

Good luck to everyone, remember to ask for help if you are struggling and drink your bloody water!!

Onwards and downwards Grin

venusandmars · 16/01/2022 20:52

Great to see everyone so motivated. Today I ate a mini cheese and almond muffin with peanut butter (I have a mini-muffin tray so the mixture makes 12-14). Then I put the rest of the muffins in the freezer to re-emerge in 2 weeks time.

Lunch was left-over veg with fried egg
Dinner - salmon wrapped in parma ham with sauteed leeks and cavelonero, buttered cabbage, radishes baked in olive oil.
And a glass of wine. My last for a while.

pinknsparkly · 16/01/2022 21:09

@Zonder - in previous bootcamp, when my husband was doing the cooking I would eat the meat part of whatever he'd made, skip the carb and ask him to make me a ton of extra veg. Not ideal as the veggies often contained carrots etc but the best I could do! Depending on what your husband cooks, you might be able to do the same?

I've made my lunch and am ready for tomorrow! In preparation for bootcamp, I've been eating up the Christmas chocolate Blush and trying start fasting. I'm aiming for 16:8. I've not lost any weight, and have actually put on 0.5kg since starting the fasting, but hope that by combining it with low carb and lots of water it'll start heading downwards. Some days are definitely easier the others though when it comes to fasting!

I had a hb1Ac done a week ago and I'm still firmly in the non diabetic range which is amazing as I've been mindful of carbs but definitely not hard-core low carbing. I got back into non diabetic territory in September in the middle of that bootcamp, after having been pre diabetic a couple of month earlier.
