‘ You have had your time ‘ ... WTF

Hello!

Back story

When I met my now husband in 2013 I had a dark plum red hair colour ( will try to attach a pic ) around 2017 I dropped it to black then brown and now with the new year coming in feeling inspired to lose some weight and bring back that colour ..

I told him this morning over breakfast and he responded with ‘ you have had your time ‘ ... I’m 37.

Is there some kind of unsaid fashion rule regarding hair colours and age //.

Is that how he sees me ?! As someone who has had their time !!! I’m
Younger than him !

‘ You have had your time ‘ ... WTF

I'm 37 with bright red hair. Like I've had for the past 12 years. No intention of changing it. :)

I think he’s got some very strange ideas. Had your time indeed.

Need to start calling him “grandad”.

Seriously- there is no age limit. Do what makes you happy. Looks a lovely colour btw.

Fuck that for a game of soldiers. Do not let anybody make you feel you've had your time. You are having it. Do it your way.

I remember my DF telling me I was "no spring chicken". I was 32.

I’m 37, I often dye my hair pink and my husband likes it. The dark plum is lovely, get it done!

I don’t think you’ve had your time but perhaps that colour has had its? It’s very 2013Grin

Maybe he thinks it will look unprofessional at work or amongst your friends as it’s a fun fashion colour? But that isn’t a reason not to do it, especially as life isn't currently normal. It’s dark enough that in some lighting it will look brown, it’s not like you’re after bright green hair! (Not that there’s anything wrong with that!)

Eh. I'm 42 and have a similar shade.

That says more about him than you.

If he doesn’t feel able to express himself and enjoy fashion that’s his problem, don’t let him stop you or pull you down.

Fun fashion brightens the day of anyone who sees you!

Reckon a nearly 40 year old (pale brows and lashes and freckles) natural redhead could get away with Ariel bright red? Always wanted it and never had the guts.

Why would that hair colour look unprofessional? Genuine question. I don’t see anything wrong with it. And I work in a very conservative work environment.

Is he for real? Ignore! I have been purple most of the year, then bright red. Currently light auburn. FWIW I am older than you op and in a senior responsible job. My time is now - and so is yours op!

My husband is 54 with waist-length hair with red, pink and purple streaks. He used to have a green and blue Mohawk until recently. I’m almost 47 and my hair is blue. Has not been my natural colour since I was early 20s.

It depends really....if it goes with your overall "style" then fine...otherwise it might look a bit trying too hard/trying to relive your youth which can just come across as a bit sad sorry

51 with bright red hair here. I've had it some shade of red or another since I was 17!
I think your hair looks lovely in the pic. Honestly, do what makes YOU happy.
