Hello!

Back story

When I met my now husband in 2013 I had a dark plum red hair colour ( will try to attach a pic ) around 2017 I dropped it to black then brown and now with the new year coming in feeling inspired to lose some weight and bring back that colour ..

I told him this morning over breakfast and he responded with ‘ you have had your time ‘ ... I’m 37.

Is there some kind of unsaid fashion rule regarding hair colours and age //.

Is that how he sees me ?! As someone who has had their time !!! I’m
Younger than him !

‘ You have had your time ‘ ... WTF

@NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace

I mean, to each their own but I don’t think people over the age of maybe 25 should have crazy hair colours.

Seriously? You are joking, right? Is there anything else that I should have given up at 25?

Still living in a world full of age reservations Hmm

I can understand the sentiment tbh. After your early 20s typically having some attention grabbing peacock feature (face tattoo, super bright hair, heavy piercings/stretches) does indicate you've not really succeeded, by normal standards.

Its usualy unemployed/low skilled out of sight labour that gets away with itso you get judged a being part of that group

Sure there's bunch of media types who pull it off but let's face it if your posting about it here you don't fit into that catagory.

@Sinful8 all I can say is lol! I had always wanted to be brave with my hair and because I always felt the need to conform I didn't do it. Certainly not anything to do with being a peacock or not! I finally took the plunge about 18 months ago and have never looked back.

For the record, I work in a top flight law firm and have moved on further in my career in my current firm since I dyed my hair than in the previous 5+ years so I think you need to take your judgy and narrow minded opinions elsewhere.

Cant actually believe people
Think those with attention grabbing hair colours or god forbid a tattoo cannot do well, hold higher up positions and so on... without revealing what it is I do for my living ... yes we can !

Oh awesome, what face tattoo do you have?
squeekums · 23/12/2020 15:28

low skilled out of sight labour

Customer facing retail thanks, i work in a 24 hour service station, shifts by myself, in control of essentially a giant underground bomb and thousands of dollars go through my hands in an 8 hour shift
but yeah low skilled and out of site lol
im well paid too.... in 4 8 hour shifts i earn what many do over a 6 day working week

customers love my hair, i get many comments on it actually, especially the older women, they love it

Chesneyhawkes1 · 23/12/2020 15:54

@Sinful8 you said or. Not that people had to have a facial tattoo.

I've managed ok with my red hair. Which is now pinky silver. Ok enough to pay higher rate tax.

My SIL managed to get a high up role within a blue chip company with bright purple hair.

Thankfully not everyone judges intelligence or capability on hair colour.

You should check out Mykey O'Halloran , he's an aussie hairdresser known for doing rainbow hair styles - love his instagram. The video i linked is him doing his grans hair and she looks fabulous, ignore anyone who says your too old to dye your hair.

LilQueenie · 27/12/2020 19:09

@glitterzzz if you don't already know the dailyfail have picked up your story from here and its also on the Facebook Take a Break's magazine page. I've just noticed it.

Pah, the woman with the brightest (purple too!) hair I know is late 50s and she still looks amazing tbh.
