AIBU?

To ban this man from my cafe?

Have NC as I've spoken to people in RL about this.

I promise I'm not the poo troll.

There's a man that's been coming in to my cafe every morning for a few weeks now.

He orders a coffee and sits doing work on his laptop at 8.30 when I open up.

Every FUCKING DAY he does a massive shit in the toilet and leaves a mess everywhere. It's utterly disgusting and I obviously have to deal with it. I'm normally there on my own as I don't get many customers at that time of day, but today a lovely woman was in with her baby and went to use the toilet after him.

She obviously didn't use it and I had to profusely apologise. He was the only other person there so it was obviously him. He could hear me talking to her and just sat there, not an ounce of embarrassment. I'm actually getting really anxious about this now and I don't know what to do. It's horrible. It's a horrible way to have to start my day, every day.

I want to ban him but I'm too "nice" and REALLY don't want the confrontation. It feels so awkward.

Help! I don't know what to do.

Hand him a bottle of bleach on his way to the loo. No more rude than his abuse of your facilities!

How long does he stay for? Could you maybe lock the door and put a sign saying to ask management for access? Or out of order until he leaves? That way you can just prevent him from using the loos?

Maybe stick an "out of order" sign on it, make him hold it, he might feck off elsewhere for a shit

If you’re bold, and it feels safe. Acknowledge the mess he leaves and ask he tidy before he depart
If you think it’s potentially dodgy you hang a out of order sign til he leaves

Put an out of order sign on the toilet door during the time he usually visits. Do it everyday for a week & hopefully he’ll find somewhere else to go.

Sounds like the office pooper from a few months back.
Some people have no shame. Bar him.

Go for the out of order sign every morning.

I would put a big sign behind the toilet

‘Someone has been leaving a disgusting mess in this toilet.
There is bleach and a toilet brush in this cubicle.
Customers who do not clean up after themselves will not be welcome back.’

The thing is he does stay for quite a while.

I get lots of customers just after 9am so I can't really put an out of order sign up. It's so infuriating!!

Omg OP just thought what if yours is the cafe from the shitting man saga?!

Report

Not a bad idea winky I might try that. Although he obviously must Be aware that he's doing this. And he must know that I have to clean up after him every day. He just doesn't care.

It's really getting me down.

An out of order sign is a great idea. If he questions it, tell him some dirty fucker has blocked the toilet leaving their shit everywhere. It’s blocked the toilet and you now need a cleaning team and plumber to sort it out. It’s cost you loads of money too op Wink

Oh god it’s the office shitter, he’s moved on from the office to your cafe!

There was a similar thread on here recently. A young member of staff was brought to work by her father and he did the same! He used the facilities. I cannot remember what they did though!

I think I would hang an out of order sign on the door every morning until after he leaves. Not sure how you can broach the subject ‘ok mate, your shit is disgusting fuck off home to poo’.

Haha yes I remember that thread! Don't remember a cafe though? I'll try to find it.

What do you mean by he makes a massive mess? Are things ahem...not in the toilet? Or is it just a bad stink?

Applesandpears23 · 09/05/2018 21:19

Do you have wifi? You could turn off the wifi and see if that deters him. Or open at 9 for a couple of days?

On the other thread, they had to put a door lock with a code. The thing is, I don't think you can refuse him the toilet because you are serving food. You need to refuse to serve him at all.

Queenio I didn't want to go in to too much detail but there's huge skidmarks all down the back of the toilet, right to the top - I don't even know how that is possible unless he's doing it on purpose!!! And obviously the smell.

I have cleaning spray and air freshener that I leave in there but he doesn't bother with either.

Is he portly with thinning hair? Actually, I can't remember how he was described but have you read the shitting man thread?
I wonder if that's where he spends the weekdays.
