I'm usually open minded about these things but it appears that they've admitted that she doesn't have fertility issues but her schedule was too "hectic" to fit in conceiving a baby.Wtaf.
Sorry but this seems very wrong

Nick Jonas and Priyanka welcome baby girl 12 weeks early mol.im/a/10428475 via dailym.ai/android

Sorry for the dm article

That's shocking, it's not like she is a heart surgeon or anyone else important or saving lives/making the world a better place, she is a c-lister so how could she not take 9 months out of her 'busy' schedule, I doubt anyone would have noticed!

“A source claims” well it must be true then 🙄

I'm very surprised that they haven't made up some bullshit excuse about health or fertility tbh.Being so honest as a celebrity is surprising.

Rich couple pay poor woman to rent her uterus and risk injury or even death.

Scumbags. Commercial surrogacy should be banned.

I'm sure I read a few years ago that she has endometriosis.

I have stage 3 Endo, can't get pregnant and IVF has so far failed. I don't have any strong view towards surrogacy as long as all parties are willing participants. But I can understand why they would go down this route if she physically can't carry, but they can make decent embryos/blastocysts. If I had the money I might consider it myself.

It's all very well when "a source" tells a paper that they know that they're are no fertility issues, but how do we know? I've haven't advertised my issues to random people, because it's not their business. For all we know SHE might not have issues, but HE might. No mention of that though....

Obviously it goes without saying that it's sad how early this baby was born and I hope she gets stronger and stronger everyday.

Jesus.

What happens in a surrogacy situation if a baby is born very early and dies? Does the mother still get paid?

Does she get paid if she does actually become pregnant but then miscarried at say, 10 weeks? Is there some sort of cut off for payment written into the contract?

Define 'willing participant'.

If surrogacy is so great, then why is it never rich women that do it?

From the article

^According to the insider, the A-list couple had been wanting to have a baby together for 'quite sometime,' but their schedules had gotten in the way of their family planning.

They eventually contacted an agency to explore their options and were connected them with a woman in SoCal who they believed was a good match.

'Priyanka doesn't have any fertility issues preventing her from having a baby, but she is 39 now so it's not getting any easier,' the source said.

'Their busy work schedules also mean that it's difficult for them to physically be together to conceive when she is ovulating, so some time ago they went down the surrogacy route.

'This is the woman's fifth surrogacy. They met her and really liked her.

'The baby had been due in April but the surrogate ended up giving birth on Sunday, so she was very premature,' the insider added.

The baby girl and the surrogate are currently in hospital and Nick and Priyanka are waiting for the baby to be healthy enough to move to a hospital in Los Angeles.

The source continued: 'Priyanka had been trying to get her filming all done before the baby was due in April - but obviously this has completely thrown her plans^

I'm surprised that the focus is on the surrogacy and congratulations on them becoming parents when the baby was born so early? That baby has a big fight ahead

For starters she's not 'a poor woman', she's part of an agency and has been a surrogate 5 times before. You're talking like they just dragged a random woman off the street and impregnated her against her wishes, which is not only nowhere even close to what surrogacy is but also pretty vile. Surrogates know the risks of pregnancy just like any woman who carries a baby and births it does. It's fully consented to and the best health care is provided when it's all done properly.

As for Priyanka, tbh I was a bit WTF about her being too busy to be pregnant, but also bear in mind she's 39 now, and just because we're told there's no fertility issues, it doesn't mean it's true.

How about.. just for a change.. we let people live their lives without thinking we have a right to trash their very reasonable life choices.

“ SHE might not have issues but HE might”

The difference being that if he is the one with fertility issues then using another mans sperm is a pretty straightforward procedure with little or no time scale and risk to the donating man. Whereas using another woman's womb, possibly another woman’s eggs is a complicated, long term procedure involving unpleasant preparation with drugs followed by serious potential health risks during egg extraction, implantation, pregnancy and birth.

Surrogacy is one of those issues where the top end of the market, the one where rich people and celebrities show off their perfect healthy babies and lovely nurseries , is a cover for the bottom end of the market where desperately poor women in third world countries are treated like shit and risk their future health and wellbeing for a relatively small amount of money..

In the past, she has been economical with the truth (re : extensive cosmetic surgery) on a similar scale to her well-known friend MM. It is annoying that she is re-stigmatising infertility to avoid people knowing about it. Her fertility struggles are well known in certain circles.

Personally, I have lost all respect for her for going out of her way to make things up rather than simply stating that she used a surrogate. There is a complete emotional detachment in the way the news of the very premature baby has been broken. Very strange

And yes, I am aware that this particular baby is very premature and might not be the healthiest. And I hope it thrives.

I never said it was great.

I'm just coming at it from my own position which is: unable to have my own through natural conception, 2 failed IVF cycles. So if the opportunity came along where someone was willing to carry a child for me, I'd think about it if I had the money. And obviously I am well aware of the procedures involved because of my own history. Yes obviously sperm donation is easier, but the story seems to be putting most of this on her, so do a lot of the comments.

She's not been dragged in though has she? She's with an agency and it's her 5th time so I'm assuming she knows the risks and has given consent. Nobody forced her and nobody is picking apart the previous 4 times either...

We don't know if either of them has fertility issues. Just that "an insider" from the DM says so, so it must be true.
If neither of them has issues, then the "no time to conceive naturally at the time she's ovulating" does seem a bit WTF.

IMO the focus should be on the poor little girl in hospital.

We will never know the full details of the surrogate but acting as a professional brood mare in back-to-back pregnancies CAN lead to premature birth so all those involved here are potentially guilty of bringing about this sad situation. There are parts of Socal which resemble the third world so it is naive to assume that the surrogate had much more of a choice than a third world surrogate

She has endometriosis leave them alone. It’s so hard to conceive with endo most people can’t. Fair play to them for having the option. I hope the baby girl recovers and they have a beautiful family.

Report
Whelmed · 22/01/2022 11:03

Maybe they don't want to make fertility issues known at this time, though using a surrogate seems to indicate that.
