Dedicate: 30 days of Yoga with Adriene

Gumpendorf · 30/12/2018 11:00

Anyone else doing the 2019 Yoga with Adriene 30 day programme?

The details are here

do.yogawithadriene.com/p/dedicate

It's free and the videos are posted on YT each day. You can sign up via the above link and you get a daily e-mail or via her YT channel.

I joined in for the first time in 2018 and loved it. The community of MNers to share experiences and provide encouragement kept me going to the end.

And I'm ...err ..not young! I'd only done a couple of yoga classes before but have continued an ad hoc basis since. I remember stiffly lowering myself to the floor on day 1 and feeling extraordinarily flexible about 14 days later. I'm hoping I can recover some of that this year!

Was it just a 5 minute video today?

I've never tried yoga before but I've done quite a lot of Pilates.

Interested to see what it's like.

Gumpendorf · 01/01/2019 12:19

habadab. I felt much more toned doing the yoga and I get motivated to do a short video that feeling comes back. We're all different but I think it does help. Smile

It was a short rally video today Kick Bishop. The programme starts for real - day 1 - tomorrow.

If anyone wants to have a taster today there are lots of short videos on her YT channel and they are sorted under playlists.

This one is a nice easy routine.

I don't know what a rally video is. I may have meant introductory but Confused

@Gumpendorf great - I want to see a bit of toning and be able to touch my toes!
@PollyFlinderz don't worry you aren't behind already - there is a day zero 'hello' video. All you had to do was take a breath and contemplate! No yoga yet!

Lefty99 · 01/01/2019 12:28

Happy New Year! Thanks for starting this thread! I did TRUE last year and loved it, so had signed up for this, really hoping I can follow along as much as possible (although with a clingy 8week old and toddler I'm not too sure). Will be great to follow along this group for motivation!

Spudlet · 01/01/2019 12:55

My posture definitely improved from doing the 30 days, and DH said he could see a difference so hoping for a change again here. I struggle to exercise as much as I'd like so I'm hoping this will give me a bit of a kickstart to better habits.

whitershadeofpale · 01/01/2019 13:07

I’m in! I got some blocks and a strap for Christmas and need to get back into yoga. I feel so much better when I do it regularly.

Crocky · 01/01/2019 13:30

I’ve just signed up.

PollyFlinderz · 01/01/2019 15:21

Thank you. I had seen the video but thought I’d missed something else.

StarJazmin · 01/01/2019 17:06

Signing in for day1 tomorrow. I’ve done a lot of yoga but not doing a regular practice at the moment, Adriene is fab for a reboot, I love her videos.

Long work day tomorrow so am going to have to set alarm for half an hour earlier to have enough time for 50mins tho. Showing up is half the battle.

itssquidstella · 01/01/2019 17:43

I'm in! I did it last year and really enjoyed it; I go to a class once a week anyway but it's great to get into the habit of practising every day - I usually do it in the evenings after I've been to the gym and it's a really nice way to stretch and wind down.

JustKeepSwimmingJustKeepSwimmi · 01/01/2019 17:44

Anyone else whispers obese?

AugustRose · 01/01/2019 17:51

I'm in too, did it for the first time in 'live' time last year ( had done other Adriene videos before that), can't wait to start. DH bought me a yoga block as I have been having trouble bending so far so think I'll need it this time. I have put on over 10lbs in the last 6 months and feel pretty awful so just need a boost and hoping this will help.

PollyFlinderz · 01/01/2019 18:14

Anyone else whispers obese?

I’ve been losing weight for a year but I still have parts of me that are going to get it in the way of me. I’m just going to do what I can for now.

BonBonVoyage · 01/01/2019 18:16

I just did day zero. Adrienne is so lovely and kind! Then I did an unrelated yoga flow. I'm looking forward to getting going tomorrow

PurpleDaisies · 01/01/2019 18:17

I’m in too. I really enjoyed last year’s one.

calamariqueen · 01/01/2019 18:21

@JustKeepSwimmingJustKeepSwimmi I'm not your usual yoga class bunny shape 😳 maybe by the end of this year eh??!!

Talisin · 01/01/2019 18:47

I’m in. Have really slacked off yoga in the last 6 months and I can feel the lack of flexibility. Didn’t manage to get through True last year as I was just too busy and too tired in January so this year I am setting my intention (per Adriene!) to get it done. The longest ones seem to be at the begining which suits me very well as I’ll still be on leave so have plenty of time. Glad she’s put all the timings up in advance this year rather than in dribs and drabs as previously - really useful.

LoreleiGilmore · 01/01/2019 19:09

I’m in too!

Littlechocola · 01/01/2019 19:19

I’m working a long shift tomorrow so bit worried about fitting it in and failing on the first day.

daisychain01 · 01/01/2019 19:21

Nice start to the new series, just a few gentle reminders and intro tips if you're new.

As I was sitting down on my mat, to get into the zone, I did Day 23 Freedom and Foregiveness from Adrienne's first 30 Days series.

I can recommend it. Only 21 mins. It was lovely and gentle, just a few down dogs, half warrior, wrists and ankle stretches to begin - nothing too taxing after the festive season!

Looking forward to Day 1 proper of Dedicate tomorrow.

ladybranstonpickle · 01/01/2019 19:30

I'm in! I watched Day zero before making dinner tonight and have printed the calendar out to leave on my kitchen counter as a motivator.

Onemorefireball · 01/01/2019 20:20

I'm in, but not sure I'll manage every day. I've also signed up for race at your pace 25 mile challenge and want to do 30 day shred. People who have done it before do you think you would be ok doing it after a run or 30 mins of hard exercise?

SylvanianFamiliesNurserySet · 01/01/2019 20:41

I think it’ll be evening before I get a chance to do tomorrow’s, but I’ll just see how it all goes.

Anyone else whispers obese?

I’m not but I can promise you I’ve seen people of all shapes and sizes enjoy yoga classes over the years. It’s not about being flexible or super-fit Smile
