Dedicate: 30 days of Yoga with Adriene

Gumpendorf · 30/12/2018 11:00

Anyone else doing the 2019 Yoga with Adriene 30 day programme?

The details are here

do.yogawithadriene.com/p/dedicate

It's free and the videos are posted on YT each day. You can sign up via the above link and you get a daily e-mail or via her YT channel.

I joined in for the first time in 2018 and loved it. The community of MNers to share experiences and provide encouragement kept me going to the end.

And I'm ...err ..not young! I'd only done a couple of yoga classes before but have continued an ad hoc basis since. I remember stiffly lowering myself to the floor on day 1 and feeling extraordinarily flexible about 14 days later. I'm hoping I can recover some of that this year!

@Mrsr8 they are not that hard Wink

Spudlet · 23/01/2019 20:05

Just done it! Knees fine, arms wobbling a bit. Managed the full side plank on the left but fell on the right. Definitely wasn't a graceful descent to the ground afterwards either Grin

Mrsr8 They aren't unfeasinly hard, but you definitely know you've done them... in a good way though Smile

Spudlet · 23/01/2019 20:06

unfeasibly that should say!

Ulysses · 23/01/2019 20:11

I was really tired before doing Day 22 and was going to give it a miss but I'm so glad it's out of the way. I found it hard going with the side planks and finished with a sweat! It's definitely one of the more challenging practices so far. My shins were aching during the planks and are even twinging now. But hey, it's done!

I really really couldn't be arsed today but I dragged myself into the mat anyway. It was a good practise although tough on my wrists which are a bit sore - especially the right hand side. Managed the side planks but struggled ALOT with that forearm plank near the start!!

Destiel · 23/01/2019 21:16

It's mrs8...
I'm trying out my new nn!
Whaddya think?

Very nice Destiel Smile

Well those side planks were never ending weren’t they. Barely managed half the time on the second set. My legs were juddering in the final pose even though they were on the ground!

carrie74 · 23/01/2019 22:35

Espoleta hope your mum is feeling better soon. Thanks

DH starting to feel better, managed a couple of hours at work today, and when I came home from work he was on the exercise bike (but hadn't managed to put the washing away or think about anything for dinner Hmm). Was feeling very annoyed already (my kids and the ones I give a lift to kept me waiting at the school gates for 20 mins, ignored my texts and calls, and didn't have the manners to apologise or explain. Had stern words with my 2 about their time not being more valuable than mine, and I could have spent that extra time much more helpfully at work. Grr.). Then to come home to 'ill' DH on the exercise bike fanned the flames some more. They all quickly started pulling their weight...

Still very behind, but did 18, 19 and 20 tonight, which was quite a nice combo, and brought me nicely to an hour's workout. Got a circuits class tomorrow evening, so likely to be another day missed, but hopefully I'll get caught up at the weekend.

Oops meant to say hi and give my update. I was all set to do Day 21 and 22 unfortunately ran short on time due to my manager returning from an extended leave and us chatting on Skype for ages, and me not wanting to say, sorry boss must dash, time for my 30 Days! Although he does know I'm a yoga nut so wouldn't be surprised.

Decided on Day 22 to see if those planks were tough... yup they certainly were. Plenty of trembling. I do prefer the forearms on the ground supported version, much less punishing on wrists. Hey did anyone else find that adaptation of side plank (1 leg over the other) really good, didn't 'arf stretch across the old bum-cheeks, oops I mean glutes Grin. Mustn't forget to do Day21, maybe at the w/end...

Hope your 1:1 goes well @whitershadeofpale would be great to get your impressions of having personal attention. My teacher offers them, but I haven't decided if it's worth it, they aren't cheap but could be a gr8 investment.

Feeling really grotty so may not a session today - or I might do the poorly one 😷

quirkychick · 24/01/2019 07:23

destriel me too, I have dd2's cough Sad. I did her 10 mins meditation from the December calendar (it comes up on YouTube as December 2018 Hope), as I thought some slow, deep breathing would be good for me.

Espoleta · 24/01/2019 08:44

Oh thanks ladies.
@Habadabadoo mum is ok. I did a 14 hour flight solo with the 14month old so was a bit shattered when I arrived. They have postponed her op until next Friday now as they have found more tumors so they need the entire day free to operate. Unfortunately we’re due to leave on Sunday so all round things are a bit shit.

Two more day done, I’m catching up and it’s really improving my mood!

quirkychick · 24/01/2019 09:02

Flowers Esopleta.

quirkychick · 25/01/2019 12:11

I'm giving it a miss again today, as I've got a cold and cough. I might do the Yoga for when you're sick, if I feel up to it.

certainlymerry · 25/01/2019 22:22

I am really enjoying this. Just done two days so far. I love her voice and the pace of the segments each day, they are just right for me. I haven't done yoga in a while, so this is reigniting my enthusiasm!

quirkychick · 26/01/2019 11:37

I've managed the Yoga for when you're sick, today.
