Anyone else doing the 2019 Yoga with Adriene 30 day programme?

The details are here

do.yogawithadriene.com/p/dedicate

It's free and the videos are posted on YT each day. You can sign up via the above link and you get a daily e-mail or via her YT channel.

I joined in for the first time in 2018 and loved it. The community of MNers to share experiences and provide encouragement kept me going to the end.

And I'm ...err ..not young! I'd only done a couple of yoga classes before but have continued an ad hoc basis since. I remember stiffly lowering myself to the floor on day 1 and feeling extraordinarily flexible about 14 days later. I'm hoping I can recover some of that this year!

Day 17 done. I still really like doing this everyday (including the meditation elements). It's unusual for me to do exercise which I enjoy rather than endure.

Gumpendorf · 18/01/2019 20:48

Day 17 ✔️
The time went very quickly but it didn't seem to have any big moves. I understand those who say the meditative/ talky bits are frustrating. Sometimes they really get to me too. I think I'm in the market for some calm atm so they are more welcome.

I'm looking forward to some faster flows now though.

Benjy seems to really enjoy the view.

Carrie74. what a rotten time for you and your family. ThanksThanks

Day 17 in the books! I enjoyed today, it was at the right speed for my. My wrists are feeling quite sore so a low practise was welcome. I have a feeling it will ramp up over the next few days!

noodlezoodle · 19/01/2019 01:40

quirkychick I did end up skipping the massage and just sitting quietly for that part of it. Enjoyed today's much more although I've tweaked my back slightly.

Becky I'm in the same boat as you, I have problems with my lower back so I need to strengthen my core, but if I'm not careful, I hurt my back doing core exercises Hmm. I really like Adriene's Yoga for Lower Back Pain video and there's a good sciatica one as well - I do those when my back is sore but starting to feel better.

chutneypig · 19/01/2019 06:59

I’ve just finished Day 18. It’s much more active than recent sessions, lots of lunges, warrior and triangle. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Ulysses · 19/01/2019 07:27

Me to chutneypig. It was a nice return to the more traditional vinyasa routines, with lots of stretches and good breathing prompts to go a bit deeper into them. I did think at one point something in my shoulder had pulled while doing one of the triangles but it recovered well. It was a good routine to start the day with.

The lower back pain routine is delicious isn't noodlezoodle? I think I might do it later on as my back is still delicate.

I hope things pick up for carrie74. I always have a mindset that when things are going awry yoga will be the thing that sort it out in my head but I rarely make it to the mat under these circumstances. Poor DH and poor puss. And poor you! You have my sympathies.

daisychain01 · 19/01/2019 09:04

Hi all, I'm lagging a day behind atm, just did Day 17 this am, as DH and I travelled over to see my DM for the weekend. I've snuck to the local gym near DM leaving DH gently snoring lol. Found a quiet spot to do my Day 17 which was nice and uncomplex.

Thanks for the heads up re today's Day 18 being back to our beloved Vinyasas, I didn't travel over with my mat so although Day 17 was fine I could survive without the grippy mat, trying to do any reasonable rendition of down dog and plank would be tricky. So I've decided to not struggle to do it today but wait til I'm home again tom Sunday and do 18 and 19

I must must must do Adriene's Lower Back vid !! Happy Saturday all x

daisychain01 · 19/01/2019 09:06

Love to you and your family Carrie Flowers deeeeeep yoga breathing if nothing else xxx

quirkychick · 19/01/2019 09:13

Flowers for you carrie and your dh.

I needed today's, as my legs are stiff from walking a lot this week. The triangle and lizard (good with a block for those with stiff hips) were a good stretch.

I will look up Five Park's Yoga, thanks. I flit between Adriene and Shiva Rea (vinyasa flow, very hippy but you are working hard and quite fast at the same time), especially her 20mins daily energy ones, I have old dvds but I think they're on YouTube too.

GreenHatHacker · 19/01/2019 09:52

Was a day behind and couldn't decide whether to do 17 or 18. Your posts all made me decide to do energetic 18 this morning (& maybe relax with 17 this evening). Ended up doing it in my underwear with the bedroom window open - certainly got a hot flush going!

Habadabadoo · 19/01/2019 10:06

Day 18 done.have a great Saturday everyone

AugustRose · 19/01/2019 11:04

Day 18 done, it was short but I really felt it so that's good. Did anyone else have sore legs at the top off those little pulses yesterday? I'm really starting to feel the difference now doing it every day.

@whitershadeofpale thanks for that, I've had a look at the fabletics site but do you have to sign up before you can see any of the clothes? I had a quick look on M&S but the only thing I could see that has different leg lengths was the baggy yoga pants not leggings.

whitershadeofpale · 19/01/2019 14:34

Sorry not sure about the Fabletics site as I signed up.

These are the kind of things I mean though here

I think swetty Betty are the best but I never pay full price for them. They do reversible yoga leggings that I like a lot too. They’re not short but tight and structured enough that you can pull or turn them up and they don’t come down.

Talisin · 19/01/2019 14:57

Aren’t Fabletics one of those sites that make you buy something every month?

whitershadeofpale · 19/01/2019 16:02

You have the choice to do that @Talisin and get it cheaper. I need a few bits so I’ve signed up but will cancel after a month.

cheminotte · 19/01/2019 17:25

Just done days 15 and 16 together.

DeadBod · 19/01/2019 18:06

Day 18 done. I've been for a long walk today so the session was a nice stretch for the legs, much better than yesterdays.
Carrie a colleague had this and it wasn't pleasant Flowers

Hockneypool · 19/01/2019 19:02

Running a bit behind after a busy week. But have completed days 13, 14 and 15 this afternoon - really enjoyed it apart from the dippy hips. I’m not even close to being able to do them. More tomorrow

Spudlet · 19/01/2019 19:51

Day 18 done. Foind it surprisingly heat-inducing to hold those lunges and warriors, clearly my legs are feeling it at the moment! Feeling nicely stretched now though.

whitershadeofpale · 19/01/2019 20:13

Day 18 done. One of my favourites, I felt that I’d got stronger today and was doing less modifications.

Onemorefireball · 19/01/2019 20:53

Today I learnt go to is a lot more comfortable in leggings than jeans. I couldn't be bothered to change and I got so hot and felt restricted.

I got ahead at points today, but I filled the time waiting for the video with some movements I enjoy and was impressed at how my transitions have improved.

I did topple over when trying to bring my heels to the floor at the end, but I just laughed and carried on.

I has a go at crow at the end and I can get about a second off the floor now, which doesn't sound like much, but I never thought I'd ever get anywhere with it!

Onemorefireball · 19/01/2019 20:54

Go to = yoga!

carrie74 · 20/01/2019 09:33

Thank you all so much! You're very very kind. DH still in quite a lot of pain, back of his throat looks grim, and one side is completely blocked, making eating quite challenging (especially as he needs to eat to stop the anti-biopics from making him feel sick), but I'm hopeful he'll get better...eventually 😂. Puss-cat also on the antibiotics for his abscess, it's all about the fun in the 74 household!!

Slowly catching up, did 16 and 17 this morning, didn't like either of them, and felt a twinge in my back in the crescents that was a bit worrying. Glad to hear 18 is a bit stronger, much prefer those. I did like her leggings in day 17 though.

I've always shied away from Fabletics due to the monthly purchase thing, are they good quality though? I'm a bit of a Sweaty Betty fiend (sales only), and also really like the reversible ones, although they're quite thick. Their leggings are long though, so if you're shorter, I'd definitely look at their 7/8 lengths.

Namaste bitches, see you later!

quirkychick · 20/01/2019 09:56

Oh, nice to hear your update, carrie. Fingers crossed for your dh and dcat.

Day 19 done, the first bit is Pranayama (breathing) and I felt a bit cold lying still on the floor. Lots of hip opening moves, though. I usually do a longer yoga session on a Sunday, so thought I'd try the Five Parks Yoga. I did a 25 min Rise & Shine. I really enjoyed it it's much more factual with less chat, but there were not many modifications certainly this session was not for beginners, lots of sun salutations, standing splits, half moon and eagle pose. It was quite fast and I've definitely had a workout! I'm not sure if the longer sessions are similar? It's good to add something new, though and I'm not cold anymore...

chutneypig · 20/01/2019 09:59

That does sound miserable for you DH Carrie74, I hope him and the cat pick up soon. I’m with you on Sweaty Betty and the sales.

I snuck Day 19 in first thing. A bit different but I felt with the pranayama I was beginning to get it, so that was very good. My hips feel very loose and open after too, so great all round.
