Dedicate: 30 days of Yoga with Adriene

Gumpendorf · 30/12/2018 11:00

Anyone else doing the 2019 Yoga with Adriene 30 day programme?

The details are here

do.yogawithadriene.com/p/dedicate

It's free and the videos are posted on YT each day. You can sign up via the above link and you get a daily e-mail or via her YT channel.

I joined in for the first time in 2018 and loved it. The community of MNers to share experiences and provide encouragement kept me going to the end.

And I'm ...err ..not young! I'd only done a couple of yoga classes before but have continued an ad hoc basis since. I remember stiffly lowering myself to the floor on day 1 and feeling extraordinarily flexible about 14 days later. I'm hoping I can recover some of that this year!

Enjoyed day 20 but I am finding them too short so I am still adding a short resistance band workout to each session.

It's very cold here today so I need to keep busy but that shouldn't be hard as I have lots of housework to do.

Doing well everyone, 10 days to go!

quirkychick · 21/01/2019 12:58

AugustRose I often do some kind of weights/resistance bands later in the day. I find the yoga complements it.

Mrsr8 any of Adriene's back /spine ones are good.

DeadBod · 21/01/2019 17:10

Day 20 done. I enjoyed the continuous flow once she got going. It was a good session after I'd gone for a short jog.

whitershadeofpale · 21/01/2019 19:35

Day 20 done. My legs were a bit sore after yesterday but I enjoyed the leaning back pose a lot. I felt that it went really quickly too.

Talisin · 21/01/2019 20:07

Days eighteen and nineteen done. I found eighteen absolute wizzed by - I was so supprised when it ended. Nineteen paired well with eighteen I think, I was in the zone so found it easy to concentrate but not sure I would’ve been able to if I’d done it as a stand alone. Anyway I’m back to just one behind but as the chances of me being able to do any yoga tomorrow is around zero, I’ll be playing catch-up later in the week again. I am determined to finish on the 31st though.

Talisin · 21/01/2019 20:35

And yow. Walking upstairs just now and I suddenly really felt it in the tops of my thighs and lower stomach.

Spudlet · 21/01/2019 20:48

Day 20 done. I enjoyed that. I'm finding it easier to lower down from plank - I always had to drop my knees but I'm getting more and more control without needing to do that. Really nice to be feeling the benefits!

coffeecow · 21/01/2019 21:05

Enjoyed today despite having to share my mat with a very fluffy golden retriever! Can't believe it's day 20 and I'm still here. Really proud of myself for that alone if nothing else.

chutneypig · 21/01/2019 21:07

I was thinking the same Spudlet, so pleased I actually managed to lower with control, twice! The leg work felt good today. It felt like more of a workout than some have recently.

Spudlet · 21/01/2019 21:11

Haha coffeecow, I had to deal with ddog observing me from the sofa and farting at intervals. I am trying not to take this as a comment on my mad skillz Grin

chutneypig It's so nice isn't it! I nearly did a HIIT video today but saved myself for the vinyasas tonight... going to start throwing some of that in once the 30 days are done I think, and do yoga on the other days. Seeing the tangible benefits like this is great motivation.

Gumpendorf · 21/01/2019 21:11

Day 20 done. I really enjoyed the pace and the stretches. I'd been feeling Blue Mondayish but I was quite disappointed when it finished.

I've been thinking of how to,continue at the end of the month. Adriene continues to provide a monthly calendar but, after January, the momentum is missing. And I'd quite like to keep get better at some of the moves. So today's thought is that I might choose a couple of videos each week and do them several times over. That way I might finally manage hipdips, and improve my transitions and balance. Grin

Would anyone be up for a new thread in Feb? Maybe just a daily or at least regular Adriene practice. We can all do our own thing but encourage each other/ recommend videos etc?

Spudlet · 21/01/2019 21:21

I would be Smile

GreenHatHacker · 21/01/2019 21:23

Good idea on the repeating sessions gumpendorf. I'd been thinking I might go through the 30 days again, to see if it was any easier second time around.

Day 20 done here - I really liked the leaning back pose, could instantly feel the quads working. I wish I was less unstable in the lunges though - I wobble all over the place still. Anyone got tips for becoming more better balanced? (!)

daisychain01 · 21/01/2019 21:24

Day 18 and 20 done today. I am glad I kept Day 18 until today, it went really well with 20.

I've finally got the hang of transitioning from plank to down dog to lunge. It has taken years, hopefully I won't lose it after 30 Days ends! Grin

GreenHatHacker · 21/01/2019 21:25

whitershadeofpale absolutely - enjoying the community feel and would be interested in recommendations too.

coffeecow · 21/01/2019 21:38

@whitershadeofpale I would definitely be up for that!

whitershadeofpale · 21/01/2019 21:59

Great- something to look forward to in February 😃.

cheminotte · 21/01/2019 22:05

Just done day 17. Didn’t take my jumper off.
I’d definitely like this thread to continue in some form as reading your comments is motivating me to keep doing it.

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 21/01/2019 22:47

I got halfway through day 17 and had to take a phone call. I'll probably start it again on the morning but skip some of the meditation.

Yes I'd be up for continuing. I've fallen behind this weekend because I've had visitors but I'm hoping to catch up this week.

Habadabadoo · 21/01/2019 23:01

Day 20 done!
I would love for this to continue into Feb. Sounds like lots are starting to feel the benefits Smile

noodlezoodle · 21/01/2019 23:41

I'd be up for a new thread, whether that's us following the monthly calendar, or recommending our favourites, or a bit of both!

Talisin · 22/01/2019 05:50

I’d planned to follow the Feb calendar - although probably not trying to catch up on missed days - so I’d love a February thread to keep me going. And actually it looks like we’re going to need another Dedicate thread first.

Ietthemeatcake · 22/01/2019 07:25

@Talisin I had a similar thought. I'll go back to my Zumba and Pilates classes that I've been skipping whist doing this and do Adrienne's Feb calendar on this other days or as an extra if I have the time and energy.

Redpriestandmozart · 22/01/2019 09:06

In February I'm planning to do her other 30 days of Yoga, I started it in December but only made it to day 17 before I was overcome with Christmas preparations.
