The lady we know and love, who has brought us 30 Days Of Yoga, is starting a new series of sessions on YouTube from 1 January called .

This just might be the incentive I've been waiting for to establish a daily practice. Does anyone want to join me? Smile

Looking forward to this - Amazon should be delivering my new yoga mat today

I'm in. I've never done it before, growing increasingly aware of my lack of flex and lower back strength (and what issues this could create as I get older), so this looks like a great intensive introduction.

Is everyone ready for tomorrow, then? Smile

I don't plan to be in great shape tomorrow morning but will try my best to get back on my feet by mid-afternoon for the 1st day of Yoga Camp!

Does anyone know how long the videos are likely to be?

Report
CoteDAzur · 31/12/2015 17:28

Her 30 Days Of Yoga videos were about 30 minutes each. I would expect this to be similar (but would welcome longer videos).

I'm hoping it is a gentle yoga for hangovers one tomorrow!

I'm hoping for a meditation session. Anything else might be cruel Grin

As long as there are no warriors or triangle poses..... my nemesis.

Oh, let's go for it.

I'm guessing as they're posted 6am US time that they won't be available here until the afternoon. So I'm planning to start the first one on the morning of the 2nd. (Realistically I won't fit yoga in if I don't do it first thing in the morning)

Is it suitable for complete beginners who are overweight and have no sense of balance

Report

Doilook Adriene is very much do what you can "find what feels good" as she says... and usually shows quite a few variations.

Is this a particular branch of yoga such as hatha?

Report
PixieChops · 01/01/2016 10:03

I do hatha yoga but only once a week, definitely want to incorporate more yoga into my life so this is perfect! Thanks for posting and I'm marking my place :)

I'm already signed up for this and pleased to see there's this thread as well.
I'm also going for Dry January- I did it last year with support from MN.

I have been yoga-Ing on and off for years but couldn't get into home practice before. Now with all the videos on YouTube I have increased my practice especially in the past year. I love Adriene and YWA "kula" - I do yoga for my mental as well as physical health and I love her approach.

I will do some yoga today but I'll start the 30day camp on the 2nd....I've got a feeling she won't start a full on session with this first day.

I've signed up for the daily email and link and have unfurled my mat. Having watched the intro video, I get the feeling this programme is aiming to replicate a retreat, rather than a course?
Sounds very interesting.

Silly question but can I ask the best way to watch the videos whole doing this? On YouTube on TV or phone? Last time I tried I pulled more muscles constantly craning at the TV to make sure I was doing it right than I did doing the actual yoga.

I'm going to try and join you all - have cfa/fibro and really miss exercising. I try and do 10 mins of yoga stretches when I can but think I'd benefit from following a course so it gets more engrained into my j daily lifestyle.

HeyMacWey · 01/01/2016 10:21

Normally I'm a morning person but since getting ill I'm so stiff in the mornings that I find stretching so much more beneficial in the evening as my body has had the day to get used to moving.

Apologies if you have time, I recommend watching each session without doing it first.
I've always had this problem with exercise videos, a dry watch helps me.

Ok, I am in! I was looking to start yoga and this lady seems well recommended. Bring it on!

First video is up, and no yoga! Just a lovely calm introduction into what she's going to be doing. Really looking forward to it now

I just watched the first video & am grateful that we won't be attempting any downward dogs today. Slightly more champagne than I'm accustomed to last night means that I'm taking care to move very slowly today Blush Grin

I'm a bit [puzzled] about the mantras, affirmations etc but I like her style and will trust her to see where this takes us.
