The lady we know and love, who has brought us 30 Days Of Yoga, is starting a new series of sessions on YouTube from 1 January called .

This just might be the incentive I've been waiting for to establish a daily practice. Does anyone want to join me? Smile

Well done, opioneers!

CoteDAzur · 20/01/2016 17:50

Congratulations Musician & cece! Smile

Headstand is a brilliant pose - my favorite. It is fantastic for upper body strength and you feel so wonderful afterwards.

I wanted to shout out in class - woohooo!! but restrained myself after my handstand. Grin

I haven't tried it at home yet but definitely still at the stage where I need the wall. I also tried handstands at the end of class last week and found them easier to do and hold.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 20/01/2016 22:11

I'm very impressed with head stands and handstands. Bit scared to try in my living room for fear of crashing into something (not a big room).

Did day 18 this morning before work good stuff! And just got back from WI where we did laughter yoga. Mixed response from the group but I quite enjoyed it Smile

MagicalHamSandwich · 20/01/2016 22:23

Thanks for the inspiration, all! I've just done the first headstand of my life (not adult life, life, full stop!). As with crow my problem is that I'm waaaaaaaay too chicken to try normally.

Turns out this is totally doable as, apparently, is a handstand (the latter against a wall. Have I mentioned that I'm a bit of a scaredy cat?). I have more than enough shoulder, arm and core strength to do it. Just need to overcome my own fear!

Off to do today's video!

cece · 21/01/2016 06:54

Well Done!

A lot of it is mental - once you just give it a go I am often surprised at what I can do.

RubberDuck · 21/01/2016 08:25

Definitely not at the head or handstand stage yet, but very admiring at those that can and do!

Day 19 done. Wasn't really feeling it today - very cold this morning downstairs again, which I'm sure impacts a lot on my willingness to yoga! Got on with it anyway.

thegiddylimit · 21/01/2016 15:46

I'm even further behind you all now, I've been in hospital with DS since Monday after he got a chest infection (he has asthma so always gets them really bad). He's now zonked out on the sofa at home after a manic steroid-fueled morning and I'm really looking forward to my yoga class this evening and then going straight to my own bed with a lovely non-plastic mattress and getting to sleep ALL NIGHT THROUGH. Not done any exercise since my pre-work swim on Monday morning. Yoga camp will start again here tomorrow on just day 8, at least you all said it was a gentle one. I may be finished by the end of February at this rate!

quirkychick · 21/01/2016 16:36

thegiddylimit I hope your ds is better soon. 2 asthmatic children here, so I know the worry with chest infections and the lack of sleep in hospitals. Dd1 used to to get really grumpy with lack of oxygen and then totally hyper with all the ventolin. Flowers

I haven't managed yoga camp yet, today. A disturbed night with dd2 and then dp and I spent the morning with our recently widowed friend. I will try to do an evening practice, but I'm usually exhausted by the time Dd1 (10) is in bed.

My twingy ankle and knee are much better today, so hopefully the massively modified yoga yesterday helped.

Hope your son's feeling better now, giddy and that you get a wonderful, blissful nights sleep.

I'm a day behind so just finished day 19 on my lovely new mat which is fabulously thick and comfortable and non slippy and massively big. Also smelling rather rubbery at the mo but hopefully that'll pass in a few days. Anyway, the difference between this and the old cheap one really is huge and I'm so happy I got it.

RubberDuck · 22/01/2016 08:40

Day 20 done. Haven't done much pranayama before and never really got into it. Wasn't unpleasant though, just not totally sold on the idea yet :)

Only 10 days left, boo :(

CoteDAzur · 22/01/2016 11:23

Well done to everyone carrying on with their daily practice Smile

I figured out the problem re my inability to go from downward dog to lunge on the left side: I do this on the right side by moving forward and putting my weight on my left hand as I move the right foot between my hands. I can't do this on my left side, because I'm instinctively protecting my right hand from too much weight (weak wrist on that side).

I hope this helps others who have said they had trouble with downdog-to-lunge.

OP posts:
quirkychick · 22/01/2016 16:30

Ah, Cote I have weak wrists, although much stronger than they were.

I have just done day 15 (halfway through). I think my knee is better for doing yoga, though I did strap it up and modify cross-legged poses, I was also super careful with the lunges and warrior poses.

As for the half moon, perfectly fine on the right leg but horribly tight hip on the left, so I had to keep stopping and putting my foot down. Shock.

20 and 21 done. 20 was... interesting. Strongly advise that you have a tissue within grabbing distance at the begining, just in case!

I pretty much got the lunge on both sides during 21 but my foot comes down with quite a loud thump so still work to do there. Had been reading an article on The X-Files just before so kept hearing the 'I believe' affirmation in a Mulder sort of way.

Still in love with my new mat Grin

RubberDuck · 23/01/2016 09:03

I loved Day 21 - was a bit nervous from the description that it would be tough, but it was really good. Hahaha, now going to say "I believe" in a Mulder voice, too.

Also, feeling the mat love - I bought a Manduka mat based on recommendations here last year and it's still lovely :)

opioneers · 23/01/2016 10:55

Yay, well done everyone. Just off to do day 21 in a minute.

I think my problem with lunge is tight hips; for some reason my right is much more flexible than my left. So at least I know what to work on now.

cece · 23/01/2016 11:23

Wish me luck. I'm just about to go to an Abs of Steel yoga class... GULP

cece · 23/01/2016 13:53

It's official I have abs of jelly Grin

quirkychick · 23/01/2016 14:37

Me too cece, but they are better since yoga camp! My waist has definitely reduced Smile.

I have done day 16, I could still feel how tight my left hip is. It was so noticeable in half moon. Still, that's one more reason to do yoga.

cece · 23/01/2016 15:23

I was the worse in the class by far. Naming it Abs of steel is definitely going to attract a certain crowd. I am determined to go back next week - hopefully I will wear a bikini this summer lives in a dream world

opioneers · 23/01/2016 15:40

I did an almost step into lunge with my left leg. Which I suppose just shows that thinking and practice makes a difference!

CoteDAzur · 23/01/2016 16:58

"abs of jelly" Grin

I'm sure you did better than you thought cece!
