Woolly Hugs. A Blanket for GoJetterGirl, a tribute to her beautiful GoJetterBoy

I am afraid we bring very sad news. There are no words really to describe her shattering loss, the wonderful Mumsnetter GoJetterGirl’s beautiful seven year old son has died following two years suffering with cancer. Life has been so utterly cruel to him, to his family and friends, to all who love and will miss him. We are so so sorry. GoJetterGirl’s thread is here and we know many of you supported her on there through until his devastating death on February 25th. We are so very sorry and send so much love

We are so pleased that the lovely GoJetterGirl accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, there will be love in every stitch and we hope lots of warmth, comfort and memories for his little brother too. We hope that many of you who have already supported on her thread will be able to help make this blanket. Many thanks to @NoWordForFluffy for all her help.

We shall need donors of yarn, funds and crafters. Can you help us? We know that many are away or on summer breaks, so provisionally we are setting a last posting date of Monday 21st September

Important
Squares to be six inches, using 4mm needles or hook. Please knot off VERY carefully when finishing or changing colour and sew your ends in, thank you! No blocking please, makes it much easier to join squares.

When posting, it will be the Teddington address, please make sure you add your name and who the squares are for, and if you would like to include a card for the GoJetters family, please do, we will pass it on.

@Zhx3 I did the whole square using half trebles. My foundation chain was 30 stitches long = 2ch + 28 half trebels per row. This gave me 6" square exactly. I've also done a slightly smaller one with a foundation row of 26 stitches = 2ch and 24 half trebles per row and then had a half treble border to bring me up to 6".

I find that doing half trebles gives a sturdy enough square to work on. Doubles are good too, but takes me longer

After much procrastination I have completed a creeper! It is a little wonky but made with love to the GoJetter family .

My two squares look very different sizes but the smaller will block to 6 inches, is that OK? (The larger is pretty much dead on 6 inches without blocking.)
