I am afraid we bring very sad news. There are no words really to describe her shattering loss, the wonderful Mumsnetter GoJetterGirl’s beautiful seven year old son has died following two years suffering with cancer. Life has been so utterly cruel to him, to his family and friends, to all who love and will miss him. We are so so sorry. GoJetterGirl’s thread is here and we know many of you supported her on there through until his devastating death on February 25th. We are so very sorry and send so much love Thanks

We are so pleased that the lovely GoJetterGirl accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, there will be love in every stitch and we hope lots of warmth, comfort and memories for his little brother too. We hope that many of you who have already supported on her thread will be able to help make this blanket. Many thanks to @NoWordForFluffy for all her help.

We shall need donors of yarn, funds and crafters. Can you help us? We know that many are away or on summer breaks, so provisionally we are setting a last posting date of Monday 21st September

Here’s the crafting info…

Ordered some yarn but did it based on the colours on screen so hope it is ok when it appears. If not will try again.
The first post said pinks are good but the magenta's are more purple to me. Is it still ok to add a pink in?
Trying to pick a design too.

@KnottyAndPistey - the yarn has arrived today so the crocheting will begin shortly. Smile

Also I'd like to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who kindly donates funds/wool for these projects. I have provided wool in the past but, due to current furlough and wage restrictions, finances are a bit tighter than they used to be so I'm very grateful to be provided with yarn courtesy of another MNer.

It just shows that Woolly Hugs can incorporate non-crafters as well as knitters and crocheters.
So THANK YOU again to everyone who has contributed financially.

@KnottyAndPistey My crochet skills are not up to granny squares yet. This is as far as I've got. I'm happy to purchase yarn for someone though Smile

You could make a solid stripe like this for the blanket?

The wool I’d hoped would be silver is more school-uniform grey, which is disappointing.

Are the other colours ok? Just planning to make a couple of basic squares as I’m not very experienced.

@KnottyAndPistey sorry I can't access my pollywobble messages as I can't remember the password and it's a defunct email so can't reset. Would you mind resending the pm to pollywollydoodle please

Here are my squares, made with love for the GoJetter family.

I hope the purple is not too pale - not sure how, but I thought it was pink when I was crocheting it!

I'll try and make more in blues and greens as well.

PS @KnottyAndPistey, if the traditional granny has too much yellow and cream in it, just let me know and I can do another.

I'm really impressed with how neat your crochet skills are, @AnneShirleysNewDress! I'm practising working in rows rather than rounds at the moment and my squares are coming out anything but square!

I've only been crocheting for less than a year, I used to donate yarn to crafters for Woolly Hugs before. It's great to be part of this community,

@Zhx3 I'm only 8 weeks in so definitely need a bit more practise before I can make squares for a blanket. Circles seem to be much easier.
