that I'm doing it mostly by touch. There's a night light that I can use to peer if needs be, but I can do a granny square mostly without looking.

TQ I hope you find plenty to distract you from side effects.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 06/02/2019 18:11

Ah wow Spindelina, not a chance I can crochet without looking, at best I can sort of crochet and watch tv - although recently discovered this is nigh on impossible when its subtitled Grin

Spindelina · 07/02/2019 08:34

Granny squares are the only thing I can do - can only get hook accurately in spaces not in stitches! And joining at they end of each round is a bit dicey.

MadisonAvenue · 07/02/2019 15:34

I've mastered granny squares in semi-darkness too Spin
I've also put daylight bulbs in the two lamps we have in the main living room (I bought them by mistake and the kids hate them!) and while they don't make the room as light as day, the tone of the light given out helps.

KnottyAndPistey · 07/02/2019 18:17

I WAS LOGGED OUT!!!

Spindelina · 07/02/2019 19:00

The light is blue, so I am having to pick my colours carefully - the pinks I've got in my stash reflect very very little light in the wavelengths emitted by the gro clock and so they appear black! So my squares are, so far, mostly duck egg.

(thus endeth today's physics lesson)

Absolutely stunning! This beautiful Chernob project blanket is from the very lovely Redbrook! It’s so dark the colours aren’t being done justice. The lightest green there is actually pistachio!

Thank you so much xxx

Wow! These are amazing!

Catmint · 08/02/2019 22:35

Just popped in to say how utterly lovely the blankets and squares are. I follow on FB, and just love to see them popping up to remind me how wonderful you all are.

Sorry to be soppy - I may have had a small libation or two.

TheWoollybacksWife · 10/02/2019 11:34

I've started my Chernobs using the Attic24 hydrangea pattern. I don't know if it is the comments saying to watch for the foundation row being too tight but I'm constantly checking to see if it's out of shape.

diamantegal · 10/02/2019 13:11

I love that pattern Woolly - I've used it for a few squares and it seems to hold it's shape fairly well. Two more rows plus border on DS's ripple blanket, and then I'll start on some squares. Quite liking forward to it after the monotony of 85 rows of ripple!

TheWoollybacksWife · 10/02/2019 13:30

Thanks for the reassurance diamante. The edges look straight (so far) so I think it will be ok.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 10/02/2019 20:30

Those blankets are gorgeous! Feel the need to apologise in advance for my literally ropey seams (plus point is that they're robust), the flowers and the dots should both be the same width but had to fudge the seams with some squares 😣 Would appreciate any tips for idiot proof seaming instructions! (note - this'll be the last 12" that consists of anything more than four blocks to seam, forgot how much I hate and am rubbish at it)

TheWoollybacksWife · 10/02/2019 20:59

@thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter I can't see a problem and I admire you for joining blocks! I only do it if I can use the join as you go method. There's a good reason why my blankets are usually stripy. Grin

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 10/02/2019 22:04

Ah thank you TheWoollybacksWife, I've made a conscious effort to nake the other corners match up - I'd be rubbish at quilting!

Thanks for the tip, going to try to join as I go for other squares Smile

Okki · 13/02/2019 13:29

Looks like we're all cracking along nicely.

thatwould I like that.

Woolly I'm going to try the join as I go method with this blanket. I started by making a load of squares but am now actually trying to plan a repeat and work out how many more I have to make before I can start joining. This is how far I am.
