You find us busily setting up a new home for our wonderful project. Will be making a special cosy corner for Soupy's poor blind cat - recently blinded by fiesta and her very bright blanket kit Gin

As has been since the first year, this has been an astonishing team effort, folk never fail to amaze. THANK YOU! x

Our first project thread is here.... That was the one where we frantically made SQUARES and some folk made whole blankets, there was a lot of gin and the word characterful was used a lot Grin

On the last thread we reached the dizzying heights of 64/100 absolutely gorgeous finished blankets, so here's hoping this thread sees us through to target...

Ooooo, and this will be the thread where we share the Early Bird 2019 info if anyone has been inspired or just wants to get ahead! Thanks

The photo is from last year, tis the wonderful group who came to Portsmouth.

Cracking on then Grin

Hmm, MrsH, I feel your next project may be more tasteful than mine. DS (8) has been wanting me to make him a ripple blanket and I made the mistake of letting him choose his own colours. This is what arrived today...

And the worst is that they're such ridiculously bright colours, I won't be able to use them for anything else. One very large blanket coming up!

Actually in the photo they don't look so bad. It's the Jaffa and Bright Green I'm most objecting to.

Is that third from the top sunshine? A friends DD wanted a red and yellow blanket and choose claret and sunshine which was an interesting combo

That's going to look fab diamante
Is the red Matador? If so, I have that. I was going to use it in a blanket but it was far too bright for what I wanted.

Lipstick
Jaffa
Sunshine
Bright Green
Turquoise
Royal
Magenta

We haven't decided on a border yet, so Fiesta may yet get a look in! He's very excited though - am trying to break it to him that a whole blanket takes a long time...

TheHatOfDoom · 15/05/2018 21:34

Wow that magenta looks much more purple on my screen then it does in real life.

I know - I think sometimes it depends what colours you put it next to. I often find the same thing when looking at other people's squares.

And I lied, it is Matador - I think I pushed for Lipstick but failed.

I quite like sunshine. Not sure what I’m going to do with my ball. I’ve got a ball of copper too, which is a lovely colour.

Report
TheHatOfDoom · 15/05/2018 22:10

I think I've got two balls of sunshine left. I'm thinking of making a little hug.

Report
MadisonAvenue · 16/05/2018 10:13

I've never used Sunshine, might have to pick up a ball for my stash.

I've made a start on my 2019 blanket. I'm doing a stripy one and can't go any further now with the colours I've already got as I need Lime once I've finished the row I'm doing. It should be here by the weekend though.
Still...2" done, 58" to go Grin

KnottyAndPistey and everyone else..

My plan is do some 12" squares with a football in the middle, specifically for the boys.

Is it OK to use white and black here, to represent footballs? I know they're not on the list of colours but as embellishments is it acceptable?

And are these both OK, or is there one ball that you prefer above the other?

Any comments / advice welcome Smile

These aren't 12" yet btw, they're only about 6".

Bloody hell Soup.

Thank you for the parcel but I thought you were kidding about the Fiesta.

At least I now know DS remembered to post it! Quite frankly, I’m surprised.

Twitter - they are great - I personally like the green one best. But I have no idea if you can use black and white in truth .
I have just had a wool delivery from Wise Badger - I am slightly sad that it didn't come in an organza bag ..

Don't know about the black and white either, but if they're not acceptable, maybe you can experiment with other colour combinations, like an orange and brown?

I think I prefer the red one! Both are great though. Do you sew the black on after or is it crocheted in?

Report
TwitterQueen1 · 17/05/2018 22:28

Thanks Book and Jux I will wait for the oracles that are @KnottyAndPistey to pass judgment on colour usage, but yes, if black & white aren't acceptable I'll try with different colour combos.

They're crocheted in. The green one is a trebles, double, then 2 rounds of clusters with random individual black clusters. The claret is simpler, with the black clusters in a pattern.

Morning. My 'I've got one more square in me' square in lovely plum is finished and will be going in the post this afternoon. Or possibly tomorrow morning if I can't get to the post office before it closes today...

Can you let me know when it's arrived safely, please?

I neglected to put a note in the package but I've written 'From BurningBright on the outside. Smile

I finally dropped my parcel off at the Hermes point yesterday.

You might want to think about sunglasses... just saying.

What do we think about:

Claret, tomato, mustard, lime, petrol, storm blue, cypress, meadow

(I’m not too sure about lime & meadow myself - substitute pistachio for one of them??)

Going to do this, I think. Lots of lovely geometric pattern in relatively muted colours.

Yes, I like those colours Spin. It's a lovely pattern too.

I have just had a shopping accident. I have bought the complete colour pegs for SSDK from ebay. Now I am wondering if I should cancel it, as I can certainly manage without them, and should really have bought wool if I were going to buy anything. Blush

Shall I cancel them? I think it should be in time if I do it within the next couple of hours?
