We were so very sorry to hear JuanPotatoTwo’s desperately sad news that her DH had passed away last month, he had renal failure. We are so very sorry for their loss and our thoughts are with her, their children and their family. We hope that this blanket will bring some comfort at such a devastating time, we were so glad they accepted our offer. Juan’s original thread is here… second here.. we see lots of you lovely folk are supporting her there, bless you.

We shall need crocheters, knitters and donors. If you would like to donate wool or funds, we shall need both and we can match you up. If you would like to join in but need donated wool, we can help there too.We have part balls if any hookers need yarn, please say. Please PM us with your offers of help THANK YOU SO MUCH.

We take our ideas from a beautiful piece written by his daughter

  • He was a keen rugby player, clearly enjoying much success before his illness started, playing for amongst others Leicester Tigers and England schools, so club and country, lots of rugby ideas there. Leicester colours are green, red and white, will attempt a link.
  • They met at a pub called The Navy for anyone who can do writing.
  • He had a red cable knit cardi he loved and wore endlessly, we do have an idea for these.
  • He loved gardening and roses
  • Cups of tea and lemon drizzle, and watching The Chase
  • They have a cat
  • And he once made Juan a Squirrel costume!

The Yarn we are Using….

Debbie Bliss Rialto DK
Drops Merino Extra Fine DK
Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK

Happy - I will be sending mine to the Teddington address, with some other squares and stuff. Do you need me to pm you the address?
I think I saw K&P were having problems with messaging ...

HappyAxolotyl · 13/05/2017 14:16

bookbook, is that the same address as Candy's Hugs? If so I'm sorted!

Spindelina · 13/05/2017 14:25

Yes, it is, Happy.

WitchDancer · 13/05/2017 16:58

Another one done 😁

Witch - you are cooking on gas! :)
I've done mine, just waiting for DD's and they can be sent off.

WitchDancer · 13/05/2017 19:27

And another......another misbehaving one 😱

That's 8 now, with enough left for another 1 or 2 I think. I want to get them in the post on Monday Book, which is why all life is on hold until they're done!

That is really pretty Witch ( well they all are!) . I tend to stop about 10, otherwise I am bound to make a mistake :)

WitchDancer · 13/05/2017 22:46

I haven't done 9 today Book, just 3.... I will add that I'm slightly yampy on painkillers though 😜

WitchDancer · 13/05/2017 22:47

Thank you, btw ☺️

DoubleR · 13/05/2017 22:49

Wow Witch you're a crochet machine tonight!
I'm doing some plainer ones whilst watching Eurovision, it's a good combo actually crochet and mindless (but v amusing) TV
I have a problem though, I've run out of red before my shell square is big enough. Any tips for a border that would look good with it? I've got white or dark green.

DoubleR · 13/05/2017 23:03

And I've also done this white c2c

WitchDancer · 13/05/2017 23:06

They're beautiful Double, shame about running out of red. Out if green and white I would go for white, which should make it pop

WitchDancer · 14/05/2017 16:10

Number 10! All done apart from some very short lengths that I really don't think will make up one last square. Time for posting them off and on to to the next of my 5 projects 😁

So many nice squares!

I had a Shock moment today. I've done a red cable knit cardigan. The back piece is surrounded by crochet, then the front pieces are being sewn on. I unpicked a bit of the sewing, pulled the thread, and a load of knitting (which is embedded in crochet) unravelled Shock Shock Shock !!!

I've re-knitted it using a crochet hook column by column but my goodness I wish I hadn't pulled that thread Shock

WitchDancer · 14/05/2017 19:33

Oh no Spin, that's gutting! I know that horrible sinking feeling well 😔

Spindelina · 14/05/2017 20:16

Post reravelling!

clairethewitch70 · 14/05/2017 20:34

Spidelina that is amazing

Does anyone know the date these squares are required by?

Thanks

WitchDancer · 14/05/2017 21:17

I don't know Claire, but I would think sooner rather than later so assembly can start. Juan needs this blanket now, which is why I prioritised these over everything else

bookbook · 14/05/2017 21:25

Spin - that is wonderful! I had been mulling over something like that , and chickened out , well done for pulling it back from disaster.
Claire - its usually about a month after the OP , but with a bit of leeway :)

Spindelina · 14/05/2017 21:31

book I was thinking of doing either this or a cable square like yours. I figured as you'd done one, I'd do the other! Bit of variety and all that.

bookbook · 14/05/2017 22:25

great minds Spin Grin

Iwantacampervan · 15/05/2017 08:38

Squares are done (photo taken last week)- just need to sew in ends and then they'll be on their way. I was going to make some for Kinship Hugs and send as well but I'll get these off. Ther's a lot of really talented knitters/crocheters here.

Morning all!
Now having a crisis of confidence... does this look like a pub sign or not? Ran out of rows to get "The" in, must have another go ...
