We were so very sorry to hear JuanPotatoTwo’s desperately sad news that her DH had passed away last month, he had renal failure. We are so very sorry for their loss and our thoughts are with her, their children and their family. We hope that this blanket will bring some comfort at such a devastating time, we were so glad they accepted our offer. Juan’s original thread is here… second here.. we see lots of you lovely folk are supporting her there, bless you.

We shall need crocheters, knitters and donors. If you would like to donate wool or funds, we shall need both and we can match you up. If you would like to join in but need donated wool, we can help there too.We have part balls if any hookers need yarn, please say. Please PM us with your offers of help THANK YOU SO MUCH.

We take our ideas from a beautiful piece written by his daughter

  • He was a keen rugby player, clearly enjoying much success before his illness started, playing for amongst others Leicester Tigers and England schools, so club and country, lots of rugby ideas there. Leicester colours are green, red and white, will attempt a link.
  • They met at a pub called The Navy for anyone who can do writing.
  • He had a red cable knit cardi he loved and wore endlessly, we do have an idea for these.
  • He loved gardening and roses
  • Cups of tea and lemon drizzle, and watching The Chase
  • They have a cat
  • And he once made Juan a Squirrel costume!

Double I agree with the others - it's fantastic as it is!

DoubleR · 09/05/2017 23:18

Thanks everyone Blush this is such a lovely encouraging place to be, much nicer than other parts of the Internet that's for sure.

So square three of my green/red/white set is supposed to be just a general reference to a garden.

And lovely it is too, RR.

WitchDancer · 10/05/2017 08:01

Again, another beautiful square Double.

I sat down last night to start a square and ended up frogging it because I read double instead of triple doubles 😔. Lesson learned, don't hook when you're tired!

bookbook · 10/05/2017 09:58

Mistakes are so easy to do when its late, no doubting it Witch
Double - thats lovely!

MadisonAvenue · 10/05/2017 10:59

Witch I'm about to frog a few rows off a square I thought I'd finished late last night. About two rows back I'd hooked three trebles into one of the previous row's trebles when there should have just been one..

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 10/05/2017 11:49

Lovely squares everybody Smile

I love the chase one RR so clever

Here are my last three (not the best photo), they're all wrapped up and ready to post now Smile

I've just finished the troublesome square. It's not lying very flat and the picture doesn't reflect the actual colours but here it is....

SpiralArchitect · 11/05/2017 11:02

Witch I think I did that square for Chernobyl - is it a Jan Eaton one? If it's the same one, it was an absolute bugger for not lying flat...

Look at everyone's lovely squares! I haven't even started yet... Blush

I will be attempting a squirrel applique this afternoon though.

WitchDancer · 11/05/2017 13:13

It is one of hers, yes. I've got a book sitting on it in the hope that it flattens while I'm at work....

SpiralArchitect · 11/05/2017 15:20

Hello. My name is Squirrey the Squirrel and Spiral I can't decide whether I want to be stuck on a solid granny square in forest (left) or basil (right) for all eternity! Please help me decide!!!

(Please excuse all my pesky ends - Spiral is a lazy arse who couldn't be bothered to sew them all in! Wink )

WitchDancer · 11/05/2017 15:51

Forest

DoubleR · 11/05/2017 16:06

Spiral that squirrel is so cute Grin both would be good, but surely squirrels should be in the forest...
Lovely square Witch looks very difficult!
I love your colour combo Raptor the blues really pop.

Spindelina · 11/05/2017 16:35

Spiral I vote forest too.

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 11/05/2017 17:11

Witch Lovely square Smile I often stick my troublesome squares in the Jan Eaton book to flatten them a bit Wink

I love that squirl Spin deffo Forest I think Smile

DramaAlpaca · 11/05/2017 17:26

That's a lovely squirrel. I agree with the others, he needs to be on forest Smile

MadisonAvenue · 11/05/2017 18:59

The gorgeous squirrel needs to go on forest.

Witch I sorted my problematic square too. I'd already sewn in the peskies, and I'd sewn them in rather too well so had to cut a fair bit of it out. As I came along the last side of the last row I could be found muttering "don't run out, don't run out". I ended up with 9 inches of that colour left when I'd finished it.
