We are afraid we bring very sad news. Daffyduck1’s beloved husband died recently, he had been suffering from cancer. Such devastating news, we are so sorry that life has been so cruel. Our love and thoughts are with her, their beautiful children and family. Love and strength to them all X

We have offered to make Daffy a blanket to show our love and support and to offer what comfort we can, and we are delighted to say she has accepted.

So we are asking for help once again Sad Thanks

We will need crocheters, knitters and donors (of funds or wool) please post on this thread and PM with your offers too.

Thank you so much Thanks

I don't know how I managed to miss this thread!! I'm absolutely gobsmacked for want of a better word at the kindness of you all and it has given me a real boost after a horrible week.

After selling my house following Paul's illness to move near to family and friends, there are serious issues with the house I was buying and I've had to pull out. I'm now in the predicament of having sold mine but having no house to buy.

However this thread has reminded me that the house will sort. People are what matter and I'm so lucky to have such lovely people thinking of my family. Xxxxx

Daffyduck1 · 09/06/2016 22:43

My littlest one loves his wooly hug.x

Daffyduck1 · 09/06/2016 23:00

Would any of you clever ladies be able to make a square with a lake district type hill on it please? Paul adored hill walking. I talked to the children about things that reminded them of daddy and the extras they thought of are- swings/cream and jam scones/Yorkshire puddings (he was very proud of these when we had a roast! )/stars/northern lights (he always wanted to see these but never did), American stars and stripes ( he drove around the whole of the USA before we met)/ guitar (this is now a treasure to the children), his wedding ring - white gold with a thin gold rim top and bottom.

Thank you again so much for thinking of us.xxx

Daffyduck1 · 09/06/2016 23:08

He also loved building snowmen and igloos with the children and sitting watching the snow come down. It's brought back the memory of being stuck on blocked roads in thick snow desperately needing a wee for four hours!!xx

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 10/06/2016 06:48

Morning daffy. Can I recommend not having a sporty BMW for snow driving.

I think my journey home was 7 miles. But my back wheels did about 50!

I also remember being stuck on the m6 where there was a serious crash. I had to finish a bottle of coke so ds could wee in it.

My uncle did an amazing Yorkshire pudding. Even into his 80s, when his eyes were failing. We used to drive a 300 mile round trip for those.

Fingers crossed for your house.

Have you considered renting for a few months until you can buy one you like?

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 10/06/2016 06:55

I spent last night the same as your littlest.
Naked under one blanket with my quilt shoved out of the way.

I will be having a go at a map later.

Then a Dino for baby William.

Then a lightening flash

If there Is time after those, an igloo will be easy.

I'm guessing stars and stripes will have a pattern. I will look later.

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 10/06/2016 06:56

One last thing.

Have you a picture of a nice hill?

Marcipex · 10/06/2016 14:51

Hello Daffy
I made you a snowy tree :)

PS my knitting is like a pudding but I don't think you would really want it.

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 10/06/2016 15:00

Snow tree is beautiful.
I have planned the map.
Not sure how mappy it will turn out to be...
But the lakes are on. With towns. And some roads and rivers.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 13/06/2016 04:41

Hi Daffy

I will try to do a Northern Lights for you - what colours shall I use?

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 13/06/2016 08:16

Good luck zing!

And the map has been started!

Daffyduck1 · 13/06/2016 17:08

Marciepex, the snowy tree is stunning. Thank you so much for your kindness and time. Why can't I, wow!! I can't wait to see the map. You are so clever and thoughtful. Zing, I've looked at some photos and the northern lights seem to be greens/blues/pinks/purples mixed together. Can I add that my husband also adored watching fireworks and standing around the fire on bonfire night. On a roll now with ideas. It's wonderful that each picture will bring back a memory for us.xxx

Daffyduck1 · 13/06/2016 17:09

Just forgot to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who is helping with this blanket. It will be priceless to us.xxx

Daffy

I looked at some truly stunning photos, I have yet to figure out how I could possibly capture such a wonder of nature in wool! Grin
I will use just a touch of pink & purple (hope that's ok Pistey!) and all the other colours you mentioned.

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 14/06/2016 11:18

Daffy

Have you got a photo of a nice hill/fell?

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 14/06/2016 11:19

Come on zing...
If I can make something that almost resembles a map and lightning, you can do the northern lights.

KnittingPearl · 14/06/2016 16:53

Attached going in the post tomorrow - all the very best to you, Daffy.

KnottyAndPistey · 15/06/2016 13:52
