With heavy hearts we bring the desperately sad news that My5boysandme has lost her precious baby son Dexter. We have offered to make the family a blanket, and hope it may give whatever comfort it can to them. We are so pleased that they have accepted. My5boysandme sends thanks to all and is very touched by everyone's kindness and compassion. Here is her original thread Sad

We send My5boysandme all our love and are so sorry for her loss. We are keeping her family close in our thoughts. X

So once again we are calling on the Blanketeers for help - whether it be donating, knitting or crocheting. Will you join us?

If you would like to help in anyway, please post on this thread but also PM me so we know. If you are able to donate, I can match you up with a crafter, or give you our donating information. I will co ordinate, match and deal with any admin. Knotty is here to answer any questions you may have. Sincere heartfelt thanks once again Thanks

As in the past, for consistency, the wools we are using are:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)
  • Rowan Cashsoft DK
  • Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK
  • Artesano Superwash Merino DK

4mm knitting needles or hooks
6" squares, as simple or as complex as you like.

The Colours
Greens, blues, silvers, dark/warm purple and cream.
If choosing cream, we ask that you go for the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK 013

Here is our website Do use the Crafting Guide on it to help you with practical info, and if interested there are a lot of linked suggestions for squares.

Previous blankets can also be seen on the website. We also have a Facebook page: MNWoollyHugs and are on Twitter @MNWoollyHugs. If you 'like' our FB page then you will get all our updates on our progress via your newsfeed.

So sad that another blanket is needed. Sending much love to My5boysandme and her family, and thinking of baby Dexter.

Cucumberpatch are usually v quick. Often have the right sort of wool in their yarn bargains section.

There's an ebay seller called Aileen's Wool Shop who posts super fast as well.

GlaikitFizZombie · 12/10/2012 18:24

I was just about to recommend aileen on eBay! I thinkn she is aileen57 or something like that!

Flojo1979 · 12/10/2012 18:27

Ah ok, my local shop has sirdar but not the ones specified.

BarbaraWoodlouse · 12/10/2012 19:03

No John Lewis Shock.

Agree Cucumberpatch is usually super speedy.

Somersaults · 12/10/2012 19:16

Had a look at Aileens wool shop, she's slightly cheaper than cucumberpatch and seemed to have a better selection of colours in the blues, greens and purple.
But as I've ordered my 2 different balls i'll just have to wait!

HaveToWearHeels · 12/10/2012 22:39

I have just been lead to this thread and would love to do a couple of squares. I have just read My5's heart wrenching thread about Dexter and was so sad to hear she was on the "Due in July" thread. I was also due in July but sadly had an MMC at 12 weeks. Let me know if I can help.

tribpot · 12/10/2012 22:43

HaveTo - welcome aboard and very sorry to hear of your loss also.

Do you have needles/yarn? Are you planning to knit or to crochet? We have a support thread for each mentioned by Pistey above.

Skoggy · 12/10/2012 23:38

I'm just waiting for a few funds to come in and then I'm off to get my yarn. I've got patterns picked out already... and colours. I love making squares. Smile

AuntieShirley · 13/10/2012 09:47

My donor wool arrived this morning, a lovely green. Thank you so much xx Work will begin tonight Grin

Flojo1979 · 13/10/2012 10:28

Oh I didn't see a support thread thingy, I thought this was it!
Can someone kindly link my the knitting one when they have a moment?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 13/10/2012 10:32

Flo - tis here

Don't worry about Fizzy. She is harmless really. Smile

Huh? Whadidido? Eh?

tribpot · 13/10/2012 10:52

I think Pistey is referring to your bee flashing, Glaikit.

GlaikitFizZombie · 13/10/2012 10:53

Oh! Right! I think I took a double dose of my pills yesterday! I'll be on my best behaviour from now on!

Chulita · 13/10/2012 11:26

Thank you to my lovely donor, a very soft ball of Ecru tumbled through the letterbox just now. I'll do my best to make up a couple of decent squares on behalf of the two of us.

bobkate · 13/10/2012 11:27

Thanks to my lovely donor whoever it may be Smile A lovely plummy purple ball of softness landed on the doorstep just now, along with the gas bill. Which do you think I was more delighted to receive? ConfusedGrin.

Primrose123 · 13/10/2012 11:44

Thank you to my donor, who has initials KQH. I have just received two lovely balls of wool, purple and cream. Thanks
