With heavy hearts we bring the desperately sad news that My5boysandme has lost her precious baby son Dexter. We have offered to make the family a blanket, and hope it may give whatever comfort it can to them. We are so pleased that they have accepted. My5boysandme sends thanks to all and is very touched by everyone's kindness and compassion. Here is her original thread Sad

We send My5boysandme all our love and are so sorry for her loss. We are keeping her family close in our thoughts. X

So once again we are calling on the Blanketeers for help - whether it be donating, knitting or crocheting. Will you join us?

If you would like to help in anyway, please post on this thread but also PM me so we know. If you are able to donate, I can match you up with a crafter, or give you our donating information. I will co ordinate, match and deal with any admin. Knotty is here to answer any questions you may have. Sincere heartfelt thanks once again Thanks

As in the past, for consistency, the wools we are using are:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)
  • Rowan Cashsoft DK
  • Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK
  • Artesano Superwash Merino DK

4mm knitting needles or hooks
6" squares, as simple or as complex as you like.

The Colours
Greens, blues, silvers, dark/warm purple and cream.
If choosing cream, we ask that you go for the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK 013

Here is our website Do use the Crafting Guide on it to help you with practical info, and if interested there are a lot of linked suggestions for squares.

Previous blankets can also be seen on the website. We also have a Facebook page: MNWoollyHugs and are on Twitter @MNWoollyHugs. If you 'like' our FB page then you will get all our updates on our progress via your newsfeed.

So sad that another blanket is needed. Sending much love to My5boysandme and her family, and thinking of baby Dexter.

Oh, how dreadful, poor My5, thinking of you.

I will of course knit a couple of squares, and can provide my own wool, pming you now pistey.

whattodoo · 10/10/2012 17:03

I'll knit a couple of squares.

Read Dexter's thread and could 'feel' my5boys' heartbreak. So sad, wish there was something I could do to take away the hurt.

God bless Dexter.

KnottyLocks · 10/10/2012 17:06

If you have any questions, please post them on this thread and we'll do our best to answer them

Thanks

So very sad. Sad

I can knit a couple of squares. Will pm you now.

whattodoo · 10/10/2012 17:22

Can anyone tell me how to 'sew in my ends'? Is it as simple as just threading the ends into the border of the square?

Thinking of My5boys and family at this very sad time.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 10/10/2012 17:26

There have been no particular themes given, although we shall be asking some of our knitters for some initials. So whatever you would like to make for her would be lovely. Thank you Thanks

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 10/10/2012 17:41

I will PM you Pistey when I've dug out my blanket wool stash and seen whether I need any new. Sad that another blanket is needed.

KnottyLocks · 10/10/2012 17:41

Frontpaw, in the OP there is a link to a crafting guide, if that helps.

DancesWithWoolsEnPointe · 10/10/2012 17:41

I'm in Sad

KnottyLocks · 10/10/2012 17:42

Simple squares are good, simple squares are essential Smile

A simple knitted garter stitch made with love is as valued as fancier squares.
