With heavy hearts we bring the desperately sad news that My5boysandme has lost her precious baby son Dexter. We have offered to make the family a blanket, and hope it may give whatever comfort it can to them. We are so pleased that they have accepted. My5boysandme sends thanks to all and is very touched by everyone's kindness and compassion. Here is her original thread Sad

We send My5boysandme all our love and are so sorry for her loss. We are keeping her family close in our thoughts. X

So once again we are calling on the Blanketeers for help - whether it be donating, knitting or crocheting. Will you join us?

If you would like to help in anyway, please post on this thread but also PM me so we know. If you are able to donate, I can match you up with a crafter, or give you our donating information. I will co ordinate, match and deal with any admin. Knotty is here to answer any questions you may have. Sincere heartfelt thanks once again Thanks

As in the past, for consistency, the wools we are using are:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)
  • Rowan Cashsoft DK
  • Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK
  • Artesano Superwash Merino DK

4mm knitting needles or hooks
6" squares, as simple or as complex as you like.

The Colours
Greens, blues, silvers, dark/warm purple and cream.
If choosing cream, we ask that you go for the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK 013

Here is our website Do use the Crafting Guide on it to help you with practical info, and if interested there are a lot of linked suggestions for squares.

Previous blankets can also be seen on the website. We also have a Facebook page: MNWoollyHugs and are on Twitter @MNWoollyHugs. If you 'like' our FB page then you will get all our updates on our progress via your newsfeed.

So sad that another blanket is needed. Sending much love to My5boysandme and her family, and thinking of baby Dexter.

Sent my squares yesterday, hope they arrive soon!

droitwichmummy · 06/11/2012 20:56

Pistey that fab 2 tone grey one was the ballband dishcloth I found on Ravelry. It was really easy and sooooo fab I think I might do it again!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 06/11/2012 21:00

Ah, fab! I can upload that to the website, it looks like smocking, and looks very difficult, don't say it is easy!!

Primrose - they will come tomorrow

droitwichmummy · 06/11/2012 21:12

Even a hooker could do it!

PiggyPlumPie · 06/11/2012 21:42

Glad they got there and you like them!! I always feel that they are bit boring compared to some of the ones I've seen but it's the best I can manage!!

Am trying some coloured ones now but not having much success!

ManifestingMingeHooHoosAgain · 06/11/2012 21:58

Posted mine today, only 1 day late Smile My parcel contains calories too, as always

KnottyLocks · 06/11/2012 22:24

Pistey will beat those calories into smithereens.

OpheliaBumps · 06/11/2012 22:51

My lovely DH posted mine today, bless him, even though he was already a bit late for work Grin

I need to get cracking with cup's squares and my almost completed mini hug, see if I can get them in before the deadline for once!

SoupDragon · 07/11/2012 07:24

Pistey will make the calories vanish as if they never existed.

KnottyLocks · 07/11/2012 07:29

Oh she will.

Fantastic that so many squares are being sent out for My5's blanket. Can't wait to see a pic of the finished item. I bet its going to be gorgeous!

(Incidently, today is day no4 of being overdue for me and I feel awful. Sad Feel like crying to be honest. In so much pain with SPD and bad hip alignment, I just want this little one to hurry up and arrive already!!!! Smile)

Have a good day all.
